I guess I just don't understand why some schools consciously decide to leave us so profoundly in the dark. I know they're holding all the cards, but I feel like it would be respectful to at least let us know where we stand after working so long on the application and spending that much money. I didn't apply to Michigan, but someone who did told me that on their portal they say exactly how many interviews are left. I think that's a good system. Or maybe just an email once in a while that lets you know where you stand. If I were running the show at some medical school, I would try to have some measure of transparency.
 
Same! And wouldn't make it easier on the adcom offices too, if applicants weren't blowing up their phones and emails asking for status updates all the day long?? Maybe some places just don't have the time/staff to make it happen. Who knows...
 
Maybe they actually haven't decided on our applications as yet and we really all do still have a shot! In my fantasy world, the new MCAT has thrown all these schools off by months and what appears to be February is actually November in adcom world o.o

I do think there's a kernel of truth to that, but it's probably not that extreme 🙁 But the cycle is far from over.

They don't seem to be extending out their interview schedules based on that. They seem shorter for a couple of schools.

I'm hanging on silence from Quinnipiac, Buffalo, NYMC rejected me already, Downstate (I am still holding on here but they told me they won't look at my new MCAT score, and when I previously applied with my old MCAT they had rejected me, so as much as I want to hold hope here, I am being realistic but I do know that Downstate does definitely extend late interviews - my friend was accepted on June 1st to downstate so def. keep the faith there!) Cooper is still silent (praying I get interviewed at Cooper, Quinnipiac, and Buffalo). VTC I think I basically got rejected from there since I haven't heard anything.

I am not giving up but as each day passes with each rejection, I am now really really worried.

nope it's not sad. What state are you from? Remember it doesn't matter. As long as you get into a US MD or DO school in ANY state, you will be a doctor so getting rejected from your state school, I am so over it because god only knows what they want, and at the end of the day, no matter what happens, you'll be a doctor from a great school!
 
Just rejected from Sinai. Pretty expected.

@chocolate23 maybe bananafish's sixth sense is tingling for us at Quinnipiac.

As a reapplicant, this cycle has been very weird in that I haven't heard anything from anywhere save for Upstate and Albany (if you're reading this AMC, I'm still mad at you). No other rejections and the one interview ->HPA, everywhere else just limbo. Frustrating but also makes me wonder if there is some truth to the new MCAT stirring things up.
 
Waiting for my Sinai rejection as well!

People keep telling me I have time, but I think they are understanding the crappiness more as the rejections roll in. It's easy to say "Oh, you have X left!!" without understanding Y of those (such as Sinai) were my long-shots to begin with.

Oh I know! when people ask me how many I have left, before I would say the actual amount and they were like it's plenty and I'm like uh no, half of them are reach schools. Now, I literally don't even talk about the schools that were long shots to begin with. There's no point.

Exactly what I did. Haha I haven't been on this site for over a month. Rooting for everyone though. I think the next time I post on this thread will be when I get an acceptance, whether it be this year or next year when I reapply. I'll find this exact thread. That's a promise. As they say, tough times don't last but tough people do.
 
As much as I want to get away from this site, I can't help but check it to see how my friends are faring on here and to just vent here cuz I mean truth be told, we are the only ones who actually get it, what it means to be rejected, what it means to be interview less, what it means to have gone through this whole grueling process, so yeah, I'm probably still going to be checking this place out lol
 
Dont worry about it, I'm also constantly checking this site. My first choice school sends out decisions via fedex and it has been really windy lately and my screen door doesnt stay closed. I have this paranoid fear that my decision has been or will be dropped off while I am not home or sleeping(I usually work nights-early morning so I am sleeping when the mail is delivered) and end up blowing away in the wind and by the time I realize what has happened the two week deadline to put in the seat deposit will have passed. So I constantly check this website to see if anyone has received their decision from that school. I am a crazy person.

nah you're not. If it makes you feel better, I would do the same thing in your situation. To make it worse, I would probably contact Fedex like OD because I am crazy like that.

UPS has a free membership program thing where you make an account, link an address to that account (there are some steps to verify the address - you'll get a letter with unique code that you'll need to enter), and thereafter, you'll get a email notification for every package/letter they scan that are heading to your address. I'm pretty sure FedEx has a membership program thing like that too. Check it out!

Yup. Complete at Ohio back in October and rejected early January.
 
Not sure what to think of this but dr Brooks from Jefferson asked me to set up a phone appt to discuss my app..really hoping I don't call to just get rejected

i think it was 7/14, that's when i paid the fee at least so i'm guessing that's around when i completed the secondary as well

I don't think it's a reject. If they wanted to reject you, they would have done so already.

They rejected me via portal (didn't even get the rejection email till months later) and I emailed them to ask them why and Dr. C actually got back to me and told me why. I think them calling you is literally what @Lannister said. It may be an II! Good Luck, we are all rooting for you!

thanks so much!! i love the support in this thread so much! i'm rooting for you as well, there are definitely schools still giving out interviews so i don't think it's over for us!

Did you email the admissions office email or did you email Dr. C directly? I'm getting all my ducks in order for a reapplication. Sigh.

I emailed Dr. C and I had CC'ed Dr. B on the email. I know I got rejected pre-II but through the SKMC threads I have read and the email response I have received, they actually do care about the medical school applicant. So definitely email them.

@cmo217 what are you waiting for, call them already and let us know what's going on! (I feel like the older sister pestering you right now to get to it - come on now! lol) -> I just realized you have to set up a phone appt --> haha oops! (clearly got too excited)

haha i called as soon as i thought they were open this morning.. my appt with dr. brooks isn't till next week
