Official 2015-2016: Oh no, I don't have a single Interview Invite thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Jealous that you even got an interview after the hell that I went through to take the stupid spooky ghost test -_-

That test was not pleasant... it crashed on me at some point but luckily I managed to get back in.

Quinnipiac!! Also bananafish this will sound weird but just based on everything I've read from you on this thread I'm pretty positive I met you in person at an interview. (I won't say where b/c anonymity but it was mid January and it was super cold).
praying I get an interview at Quinnipiac as well! Good Luck to you! I know you'll do great!

I thought I did well on that test - clearly not well enough for NYMC [I'm sure there were other factors too but still! lol]

I want an interview there desperately. If you met me in real life it would be fairly obvious because I'm a banana with fins and I require a portable tank to swim in. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I keep getting waitlisted...

I just realized your avatar is literally a banana fish. I am not a smart man.

Haven't heard a single peep from Jefferson from the very beginning...Yet still not rejected II...would love for a late last-minute them...Also still don't know how the f*ck I haven't gotten at least a II to the state school I like 15 minutes from.

+1
My Interview Status says "Decision Pending" from day 1, but I am an OOS applicant.

I was in your shoes until I expedited the process by sending in an update. Heard back from Dr. Callahan the next day.

I get it as I am someone from NY...Hofstra reject..Stony reject...and NYMC...not to mention a post interview rejection from Upstate...I meet the GPA and MCAT...so I dont get it but I guess I do ..none of this process make sense....only other invite I have in NY is at Albany..but as a NY'er I
have no shot to get instate tuition..not at this point that I care ...I'll go anywhere..but my point is they say to apply to state schools..but in this case I wasted my money....there is no instate love in NY...I've seen way high 30's MCATs not get invites to NY schools..Its a waste...They get alot more money for an out of state applicant. This process was the same when applying to a SUNY school as an undergrad. They are known to take out of state with lower stats for the money. It is what it is.

I understand that you are hurt right now, but even in NY, your best chance as an applicant is IS. 27% matriculated IS, only 16% had to leave. Though 57% did not get admitted this is still better than many states.

Sent an update about 1.5 months ago, though didn't directly send it to Dr. Callahan, either way no II.

Thinking about sending another one next week.

Maybe they are still considering you for an II. It wouldn't hurt to send it to admissions and CC her. I got an email from her that said thanks and good luck. Checked the portal right after and almost **** a brick.

Thank you @gyngyn for even looking at my sad post. I guess it was just my bad luck this cycle..I do have a shot .. I have two more invites and I'll just give it my all for the next two!! One OOS one IS but not at a SUNY.

I think you should if you have a good update!

The problem is that NY allows students to get in-state tuition after 1 year, so OOS students are fine paying the high price for one year.

But, yeah, I understand your complaint. I got interviews at USF, UCF, FIU, and UMiami all as OOS and 4 other OOS schools, but my only SUNY interview was in mid-Feb at Downstate. Most of my IIs were to OOS public schools- don't know why my own state schools didn't give me a shot.

Edit: I guess state schools try to recruit people who will stay in the state and NY doesn't have problems with that

Where is it? I'm not a reddit user so I don't know how to how to list posts by upvotes...

NYMC was the most expensive school I applied to ($120 minus $10 because I got a partial refund on the spooky ghost test lol) and I'm not an NY resident. 🙁 I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.

Mfw class size will be only me

Happy you have an acceptance!!!! I really root for all of you guys!!!

The pen that Rosalind Franklin gave me at my interview ran out of ink exactly as I started writing a rough outline of my 2016 application. Could this be a good omen?
the school i'm waitlisted at gave us a pen, notebook, and reusable coffee-cup type thing and i can't even bring myself to use it cause i loved the school so much and just want to get off the waitlist so bad and it just makes me sad looking at it 🙁

I treasured the bottled water Wayne State gave me during my interview, and threw it in the garbage the day I found out they put me on the waitlist.

when does everyone think is a good time to apply for jobs for a gap year in case this cycle doesn't work out? (i'm mainly thinking scribe jobs) i don't want to apply too soon in case i do somehow end up getting in this cycle but i don't want to apply too late either

apply now, because sometimes it takes a while to get a job. definitely apply now!

Well, this was a truly god awful week. On top of that, it will be at least a month before I hear from anywhere, leaving me ample time to fantasize about getting accepted somewhere only to get a few waitlists. Excellent.

record of 7 rejections all pre II this week - truly agonizing.

I know this won't sound like much right now but I would kill to be in your shoes @bananafish94. I haven't had a single interview and just know that since you've had them, know that you are wanted by a medical school. Whatever happens, will happen but at least you know you have a shot. So one month isn't a whole lot plus you're in your senior year of Undergrad. Try to enjoy the month instead of worrying because this moment of you in college won't come again so enjoy it, savor it, take it from someone who really didn't have the chance to, and hopefully, you'll get that acceptance - we are all rooting for you!
