Does stony brook send acceptances through email or mail on Dec 1st?
 
Hey guys check your ADEA portal mine for the school I applied to and had an interview at now says "under review" so some schools are starting to make decisions already! However we don't get that info until Dec. 1st but schools are starting to take a closer look at those who interviewed!

What school?
 
It would be cool, but more stressful, if they updated to "decision made" for the schools that have made a decision before dec 1.
 
Oh nice, any ideas on which one you will choose and do think the earlier date means a better chance of acceptance?

I got an email from them. Portal didn't change status.

I scheduled my interview for November 22, just bc I had pretty short notice for Nov 17th interview. I don't think it would make much difference since it's still pre-dec.

They said AADSAS is supposed to email out information about how to do it when the period begins...🙁.

Yes. But in the adea website it says they'll email us 30 days prior it starts. Weird.

ACADEMIC UPDATE STARTED. I just went to my coursework section and I was able to change "planned" stuff to "completed".

During my NYU interview, they said it doesn't matter for pre dec interviews. Because your semester won't end until mid December and by then you'll have already been accepted/rejected

Nice! check that it isn't 12/9. I know MUSC usually interviews on Fridays, unless this year is different for some reason.

Yeah, it is 12/9. I think in all my excitement I posted 12/8 on every post I made, just forgot to correct this one. oops!
 
Can we submit the academic update more than once? I have summer grades but I'm not done with the fall semester so I was wondering if I can submit it now for the summer and then do another academic update in mid December

I'm in the same situation. I decided to just wait until final grades for this semester.

It is an extremely relaxed day, with a short, laid-back interview with two very friendly faculty members. I wouldn't worry about it at all. We got the opportunity to ask dozens of questions to students, faculty, and administration so anything you want to know about the school will be addressed that day. When is your interview day?

I'm glad it worked out! They were pleased to see that I am a re-applicant, so I'm sure you'll have a good story for them. Hopefully this will be the one :xf:

As far as last year goes, we were only allowed to update it once as far as I remember. This means that if you want your fall semester grades included in the update, I believe you are better off waiting until you can get them on a transcript. If you are willing to use your one update just for summer grades before your fall grades, just know that you probably wont get to update later on for your fall grades. At least that's as far as I can tell. I suppose you could try to call and sweet talk them into a second academic update but I don't know if they'll budge for you in that case. I've never tried.

Wait sorry to drag this on, but if my GPA for this semester will be lower than th previous can I choose not to do the academic update ??
 
I think you have to participate in the academic update if you are currently in classes or are planning to take courses prior to matriculation. Upon acceptance into a dental school they will request all transcripts sent to them directly anyways, at that point they will see all your grades from your current and planned semesters. So I think its best to complete the academic update so AADSAS can update your GPA. I don't think schools will like it if you choose not to do the academic update and try and hide grades.

The timeline works out where schools accept you or reject you before the semester ends. There's no hiding involved. Unless you were taking classes at the time of your app that you've now finished.

So you're saying that courses taken in the winter 2017 semester do not have to be in the academic update? I don't think thats right. Schools will request transcripts from the winter 2017 semester.
