So you're saying that courses taken in the winter 2017 semester do not have to be in the academic update? I don't think thats right. Schools will request transcripts from the winter 2017 semester.

They will request transcripts in May or whenever. How are you going to do an academic update for winter 2017 if the academic update period ends in February?

The semester starts in Jan, you designate courses as 'in progress'.

You can't esubmit in progress courses, they need to be completed with grades on AADSAS.
This is off the academic update FAQ, they haven't updated the proper dates/year...

Q: How do I use Academic Update?
A: If you are eligible for Academic Update, navigate to the “Coursework” section. Change any Planned/In Progress terms that now have grades to a Completed Session by clicking on the “Switch to Completed Session” button. Then enter the grade for each course. At this time, you may also enter any new Planned courses for the winter, spring, or summer 2016 terms. Once you are finished adding all of your new courses, you must go back to the Checklist window and click on the “E-Submit Academic Update” button.

Yes but what if you don't have any grades?

The only grades you need to input are from the fall 2016 semester, this will change your AADSAS GPA.

You still have to put in planned courses for the winter, spring and summer 2017 terms in the academic update. The grades from these terms will not factor into your AADSAS GPA but schools will look at the transcripts once the courses are complete, they will make sure you have maintained acceptable performance, if they are pre-requisite courses then you will have to meet a minimum grade set by the school.

Well of course... That's what I basically said. You can't enter 2017 winter grades. I wasn't talking about fall grades.

Has anyone worked for Scribe America and is applying this cycle? I just got an interview with them and they have a dentist on site at the family medical practice. I wanted to see if anyone had done something like this so I can pick your brain a little about the whole process.

Haha I have no idea. I'm just lucky. But i remember the dean of admissions Dr. Mejia telling me that students who do SMDEP are almost guaranteed an interview.
I wish you the best of luck as well.

you were notified before you mailed out and on the same day you completed you application?

I think the worst part is when you know if you don't get a call from a certain school on Dec 1, you know you haven't gotten in yet.

What day??

This 2016-2017 thread is a whole other animal compared to the 2015-2016 thread.
And the 2014-2015 thread was a whole different animal than this cycle and last. Every year is a bit different. Having gone through two cycles and watched this cycle every year can vary a lot. Also it took you guys until November 23rd to make it to page 47. Last year they were at page 47 on October 15th. That could mean many people aren't reporting things and potentially more people are choosing to abstain from posting and instead lurking.

Agreed. There will always be 90% lurking and 10% posting.

Edit: There'a a wiki on this very thing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%_rule_(Internet_culture)

Shows how little people contribute online versus those that read.
