I'm interviewing on the 17th, so there might be more November dates available. And yep, I was surprised to get an email on a Sunday!Do you know how many dates they have available? I can't believe you got an invite on a Sunday.. for some reason I assumed all schools sent them out during the week only.

This is my third year applying and I have two interviews. Don't get disheartened! All it takes is one offer, just make sure you do your best at your interviews and be confident.Only grabbed 2 interviews so far, not great statistically. Im gonna start preparing for the worst and looking at a Masters or Post-bacc....yuck

No, I've been working, volunteering, and taking classes so apparently I'm on the right path!Did you have interviews your first 2 years applying?
I think you should think positive. Worst case, you have to reapply. Been there, done that. As long as you did your best at your interviews it's a waiting game. It's not the end of the whole, but don't expect to get rejected either. Stay positive, it only takes one offer. From a nervous predent... I’ve only had two interviews so far (both completed, so predecember). Am I unlikely to get any other interviews this cycle? And with only two interviews should I be worried that I won’t get in this cycle? My app was sent out in June, just a couple supplements my finished til august.
Most schools have post Dec interviews, there is still hope!I'm in the same boat. 2 interviews so far we just have to wait and hope for the best come dec 1st. Interviews may still be out there somewhere.
First of all, you should be proud of yourself for getting 2 predecember interviews. This says that you are a strong applicant. From what I've heard, lots of post december interviews are still to come. I've talked to many dental students who didn't even get any interviews until January. Just be patient, 2 interviews is very good! From a nervous predent... You can add new experiences whenever throughout the cycle this year, so you don't have to individually email schoolsHave any of you had updates since applying over the summer? I have doubled by shadow and volunteer hours (was only at 50 for both) so doubling may be worth noting. And also just got a job offer in sterilization at an ortho office. Is this enough of a change to notify schools and email them?
This time last year (September 21,2016) this thread had #1,436 posts and was on page 29. My post today will be #1,178 (September 21,2017) and we are still on page 24 as I write this.
It's only a simple observation, but perhaps interest/competition for dental school is lower this year than last year. While the post counts have leveled out some since I posted in July we are still running behind last years post count by about 20%. Any number of arbitrary reasons could be the cause for this, but the fact remains that last years thread count was a good bit higher at this point in the process.
Implications ... The number of applicants probably remains relatively constant from year to year - BUT it will fluctuate in terms of number of applicants and quality of applicants. This could be an off year for dental school applicants which bodes well for every applicant. Another possibility is that SDN attracts a high % of over achievers and there might be less of them this year - which would also bode well for every candidate in terms of admissions.
Again this is a simple observation - but it may have some degree of merit. If you are anxious about getting an interview - my musings may provide you with a small measure of solace while you wait.
I think some of it has to do with how many people are unaware of SDN. Just yesterday at an interview only a handful of people knew about it. Most of the schools I applied to have a similar or higher number of applications. I definitely invited some more people because this is such a great resource!Update ...
This time last year (11/9/16) this thread had #2,213 posts and was on page 45.
My post today will be #1,743 on page 35 (11/9/17).
It's only a simple observation, but perhaps interest/competition for dental school is lower this year than last year. The post differential has expanded considerably since I last posted in September and we are now running behind last years post count by nearly 30%. Any number of arbitrary reasons could be the cause for this, but the fact remains that last years thread count was a notably higher at this point in the process.

Yes. Some Schools like Nova or Midwestern sent out automatic rejectionsDo schools give out rejections already? Is it weird that I've neither received an interview from anywhere nor a rejection?
This is good news for all of us. It means there are fewer gunners in this year’s entering dental class 😀I think some of it has to do with how many people are unaware of SDN. Most current Dental students advise to staying off SDN. It’s just unnecessary stress during this time of year. So number of post or activity seems irrelevant.

good luck to you. Hope you hear that good news in a few weeks!Roseman and Louisville
Also this year's application through AADSAS has changed. I see a lot more overlap in the "gunners"This is good news for all of us. It means there are fewer gunners in this year’s entering dental class 😀
