Hey everyone! Congrats to those who already interviewed and good luck to those with future interviews and/or waiting to hear from schools! I'm a current 1st year dental student and I started making dental vlogs and pre-dent videos in my spare time. A recent one that I made is all about preparing for dental school interviews (one-on-one, group, and MMI). My whole class contributed tips that I've included in my video and thought you guys might find it useful!
 
Thanks for sharing everyone. This board and thread have been encouraging and helpful.
Now that the cycle is winding down for what it's worth I applied to 10 schools.
I got 9 interviews to date - and accepted 7 of those.
My DAT AA/PAT is a 23/23 and my GPA is 4.0 in Biochemistry.

I don't remember if I ever said, but with my 2 (Roseman and IU) interviews I've already had 3 rejections (ASDOH, UNLV, and Washington). With 13 applications I'm still waiting to hear back from 8... but hopefully this Friday goes well!!

Really? That's a relief to hear. I genuinely am happy for everyone getting so many interviews, but good to know that I'm not completely alone. I interviewed at USC. I initially hoped to apply to 10+ schools but after getting into a car accident, death of a family, etc., I just couldn't afford to. :/

Too soon to tell.. I would wait until the bulk of post-dec interviews are given out before preparing for next cycle.

I agree too soon to tell, but a higher DAT will give you better chance since the sGPA is slightly on the low side

I would say don't expect to be rejected, but planning ahead is never a bad idea. The AADSAS app asks 'what has changed since your last application?' and if you haven't been taking classes or volunteering or working or something to enhance your app, it might be detrimental. Maybe consider retaking the DAT, especially focusing on your PAT.

With that being said, it isn't over yet!! You still have a chance for this year, good luck!

I applied to UNLV and Washington as well I haven't heard anything back from them did they email you?

I wouldn't be too worried I only got one interview as well and only two rejections so far (loma linda and Nova) from out of 10+ schools, also I had a couple of friends last cycle who only got post December interviews and all of them got accepted.

Yes; both were actually quick to send rejections, I got them in August.

That gives me hope! I got rejected from Loma Linda as well. The lady I spoke to on the phone said it was because of the 19 on RC. Hoping we both hear good news soon 🙂 Best of luck to you!

Loma Linda heavily favors SDA students from what I hear when I asked why I got rejected they basically sent me a copy and pasted response listing every reason possible lol

Echoing what everyone else has said in that it never hurts to prepare.
But also, when did you apply?
 
Are there alot of post-dec interviews and are they only offered during December? I'm just confused on how they give out interviews after dec 1st after giving out seats.
 
Should I call the offices if something is wrong with my application or is that pushing it? I did get the confirmation emails and sent in the money, but never heard back since.

I wouldn't call right now, they're swamped right now with dec 1 right around the corner. There will be plenty of post-december interviews, you just have to be patient

Post-December interviews go until all spots are filled, usually through the spring. They don't fill every spot on december 1st and people will decline acceptances for other schools, so just sit tight.

Hey, did you ever receive the supplemental application from Maryland? If you did I would say wait and see what happens (usually means an interview). NYU and USC interviews well into the spring and with your stats you have a shot!

Very nervous for December 1st, just hope I hear something on that day...
Have had 3 interviews, and have 2 more lined up post December 1st, so hoping it all works out for the best. I remember when I took the DAT, I had a countdown app on my phone and I willed that each day would pass slowly. Now I just want Friday to come and for this anticipation to be over.

Nope, the last communication I had from them was when I submitted my app in June and then just randomly this morning I got an "Application Denied" email from them. Best of luck!
 
Might as well post these since Dec 1st is right around the corner. Perhaps my low GPA can inspire other low GPA applicants in the future. I know I definitely looked in past threads for others in a similar situation as myself.
