are you a CA resident? UCSF only offers 9/90 spots for oos.

I submitted my AADSAS on June 7, then waited a while for my last letter :shy:, and got my UCSF application complete email on June 25. I'm a California resident, and USC, UCLA and UCSF are my top choice schools.

Dang you got complete five days before me. I wonder when they’ll send the next round of interviews I like freaked out yesterday because i didn’t hear anything

After an unsuccessful cycle last year (no interviews), this is SO exciting to have the interviews rolling in! The big improvements I made from last year were:
  • DAT from 15 TS ---> 18 TS, 16AA --->20 AA
  • Worked in a dental office as a treatment coordinator
  • Completed many of the pre-requisite classes
If you're hearing crickets from schools, this is still super early in the cycle! Keep improving yourself and the schools will take notice.

Hey where are you getting your statistics from? I heard UCSF doesn't release how many interviews offered and accepted from OOS. From last year's interview thread, FeralisExtreme said on there that they accepted around 50, and matriculated 25? Would you mind citing the source of this information? thanks so much!

Not sure how many they send out in a week, but each interview day only has about 6-8 students, and only 2 dates have been confirmed (8/20 & 8/24), and so far about 6 people have gotten invites- 2 here, 3 on the school thread and 1 person that PM'd me. There might be more, because not everyone uses SDN- they might've posted on fb or haven't even posted at all anywhere. Not sure if that helps, but the interview days are really small and that's why invites are few and far between.

Thank you!!! Yes, I have tried calling UCSF, but keep getting the answering machine, and am waiting to hear back through email. It would be nice to know what they were looking for.

I spoke to an admissions coordinator who visited my school and they even tried to emphasize that they do not prefer in state vs out of state, its just that most of the people who enroll are CA residents because they want to be here. I personally think they should show preference for in state residents because it is a state school and residents pay taxes to them, but that's what they told me. They could have also been saying that because my school is in NC and they could have wanted to convince us to apply regardless of residency.

It's so weird that they say this then have 80 in-state students out of 90 spots every year. I feel like if they didnt favor in-staters then this number wouldnt be so lopsided.

I thought the community service letter was just optional.

"Applicants are required to provide a minimum of TWO (2) letters of recommendation. ONE letter must be from a Science Faculty OR Predental Committee Member and ONE from a Dentist."

Anyone worrying about their chances post interview?

Just had mine at VCU, I was a nervous wreck. At the end of my interview I think I rambled some incoherent gibberish and made my exit without shaking any of my interviewers' hands, definitively left quite the impression haha.

You should probably just remain positive! Haha

Edit: On the real though, I was there as well and definitely do not feel extremely confident but I guess our only option is to wait for now until December.

I just wanted to say for those who are still applying to keep up the good work! When I first checked this thread in beginning of July, I was very worried because there were so many people getting interviews and I began to have a bit of self-doubt. Don't worry many schools are just taking their time to holistically review your application, so they will see that you put alot of effort into the application process. On a side note, I was wondering if it's common to see others getting interviews for school that you have already applied to earlier even though the application was submitted at a later time?

same here for UDM. I got mines at 9/22 at 8 am and I am planning to go to Little Caesars Arena to see the RedWings play the Bruins after my interview.

When you say your app was complete on 8/2, is that when you submitted or did they notify you on that day that your app was considered complete?
