Official 2019-2020 Endocrinology fellowship match

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just noticed that fellowship match doesn’t open until August 28?

Yeah, that's normal I believe. We don't need to be able to rank programs until we get and go on interviews... Rank deadline is in November and Match in December this year for fellowships.

Used to be July 15th when the match opened. ROL lists were due in November and match day was in 1st week of December as well...seem to be a much shorter season...does that mean interview will just be in sept and October?

Last year, fellowship rank lists were due mid-November and Match was the last week of November, so it was an even shorter interview cycle, so this year's cycle is actually longer than last year's. We can go on interviews before NRMP opens, I don't know why that would limit that?

I’m a dufus:oops:...should have looked at ERAS opening date.

I already applied 2 days ago 3 LoRs but my last final 4th LoR is processing and will be ready sometime this week
If I send in that letter later this week, do I have to notify each program about this or do they automatically know I updated it? Thanks.

I think you have to let them know

I think you just assign it to the program and it will get sent over. Of note, I was reading an old thread a year or two back and some people were getting interviews without all the LOR in. I think someone had two in there at the time of the interview email.

It's automatic in the web interface. Programs no longer have to manually download components for a few years.

Not applying this year and just an intern.

I have 1 elective this year and my program allows us to go do endocrine. I already have an endocrine rotation last year I loved it. Should I use this elective to expand my medical knowledge by doing something else?

Also how important and or invasive are auditions/ away rotations at endocrine programs? I have 3 programs I want to, will doing rotations with them be helpful for consideration?

There is really no need to do away rotations

Is there a good way to make your chances at a program higher?
Great letters, publications, abstract presentations at meetings...the usual stuff.
Endocrinology is a small world and going to national meetings can give you a chance to meet PDs...usually free for med students and residents...programs will usually let you go if you have an abstract to present.

Anybody heard anything? I'm wondering if I'm just underqualified

Last year's thread showed invites ranging from 7/17 to 9/10, from the people on the forum, with more going out in August than in July. Just gotta wait!

Not a thing either. I wonder if anyone gets interviews between 5pm and 11pm. For residency interviews I had invites at odd hours of the night. I would bet tomorrow one of us hears something.

No activity in my eras so far. Did anyone receive invitations? The endocrine fellow in my program told me that he received his first invitation on July 15th last year,he is an AMG though. I am wondering if I didn’t get any yet because I am IMG. I am not sure if this matters.

Haven't received anything but a friend told me they got an IV for University of Wisconsin today

As soon as I posted I got an IV for U Washington

Oh wow, congrats on UWash! I haven't heard of a rejection yet, so there's still a chance.

Is it not out of the question to get interviews this weekend?

Some programs in at least some specialties send out invites and rejections on weekends.

Invites should continue for 3-4 more weeks.

Then interviews from the second half of August through end of Oct, concentrated in September and early Oct

Nothing here. I applied to a few NYC programs in Manhattan but that's it.

I see that people got invites to places I applied to but I didn't get invites... =/
Does that mean I was effectively screened out and rejected?
