Official 2020 Step 2 CK Experiences With Scores Thread

has anybody taken the new/hard free 120? i'm going through it now and could really use some discussion of some of these questions as i'm at a loss and my test is in 5 days.

also wondering why they took it down - is it because of the delayed changes in content? i.e. some of these types of questions / content will not be on the real exam?
hey I did it yesterday .. I felt it had a lot of pt safety q that are not yet being implemented in our current pool due to the covid. don't worry we ll be fine in real exam ... we can discuss.

The curve is real harsh on 7. The Reddit converter for NBME 7 puts you at a 251 so I wouldn't worry too much!

I told myself when I took it that the number was going to be a lot lower than I want but it's okay since there's a huge score discrepancy. So I made myself okay with that and took it. When I saw the score I was still bummed out lol.

How much time of dedicated time off rotations are you/did you take for Step 2?

6 weeks out from my exam date, time to crank it up. Just kinda been chilling doing a block or so of UW and anki up until now studying 3-4hrs a day, hoping to double that for the coming weeks. Not sure if I still have it in me lol

It's been so hard man. I feel like this dedicated has been way more difficult to stay focused. I have 15 days left and I'm just burnt out.

Sure, I didn't exactly do anything special but I don't mind writing a few things about it. I most definitely took the unorthodox route and do not recommend for everyone. I did not really take a dedicated period before it so take everything I say here with a grain of salt.
STEP 2 is coming up for me in a few days and I’m hoping for a 250+
NBME 7 (early February): 228
NBME 6 (early march): 239
NBME 8 (May): 248
UWSA1 (early May): 260
UWSA2 (a few days ago): 259
FREE120: taking today we will see how it goes

Level 1: 670s
Level 2: 680s
STEP1: 250s
STEP2: ??

COMLEX Level 2 feelings: As I went through the test I felt as though the medicine sections felt almost exactly like the COMBANK practice test I had taken a few days before. It was you either knew it or you didn't, but for the most part required much less brain power than any of the practice STEP2 NBMEs/UWSAs I have taken. The first four sections I flew by and felt relatively easy, then the last 4 sections hit me. I had around 5-10 legal/ethics Qs per section and these absolutely obliterated me and can be seen on my score report. Biostats was not bad just basic stuff from FA with 1 or two curve balls. Topics were very one sided and hit the same information within the same blocks. Overall if I had taken these extra weeks to study for it as I am for STEP2 I don't think I would have done any better and I also took the exam before finishing all of my shelves. I am happy to be done and to have beat my Level 1 score, but I can not say with any confidence that the exam or score shows how much I have learned over the course of M3 year. Overall I recommend that Turnup2ethics dec that was previously posted here. I did not re read the green book, I just did the OMM questions from combank and re read the notes over the course of 2-3 days before the exam.

Throughout the year I essentially did the My M3 clerkship deck along with each clerkship and kept up with my reviews all the way up until the end. I utilized UWORLD throughout and occasionally didn't finish the section along with the according COMBANK shelf specific Qs. If I could do it all over again I would utilize the COMQUEST instead as I was lent these by some friends and these were significantly more in line with the shelves than COMBANK although it will give you the occasional question here and there. I honored every shelf except two and I missed honoring those by one point each.

Well, had to reschedule my exam for various personal factors 🙄 Now I'm not taking it until August, but at least I'll have a 3 week dedicated instead of having to study and take it in the middle of a rotation. At this point I don't believe I'll ever take this thing lol

My fall schedule got so messed up by covid I actually have a few random 1-2 week spots of freedom during fall so i may be following suit. Gotta say with all the negatives going on rn, ERAS being pushed back to oct has reduced a ton of stress from my life (letters, step, etc)

Got my score today, same exact score as my Step 1 lol... totally content with that because, much like everyone else, I felt like doodoo walking out of the test center. Score predictor/practice tests were also fairly accurate, only thing was the NBME 7 which under predicted by exactly 15 points.

how far out did you take 7 from your test date?

how far out did you take 7 from your test date?

UWSA 1: 4 weeks out
NBME 7: 2 weeks out
NBME 8: 1.5 weeks out
UWSA 2: 5 days before time

NBME's under predicted by 15 and 4 points and the UWSA's over predicted by 7 and 1 points respectively.

The actual test was really weird and I'm not sure that any one practice test totally encapsulated the real thing. I thought the ethics and stats questions were really weird and I marked probably 8-12 questions per block, feeling like I guessed on about half of those that I marked. It really felt like I was just plodding along without completely thinking through each question because I felt pressed for time. Much preferred Step 1 compared to 2, although I put much more relative time studying into Step 1.

Been a while since i posted on this forum so i figured i'd update.

Pushed my step 2 exam to Aug 2nd, Level 2 is scheduled for July 31st. I may have audition for July so i couldn't risk missing a day for step.

Just finally finished my first pass of UW. Untimed in 40 blocks. Averaged 65.5 %

Dedicated starts tomorrow and it s looking to be ~8 Weeks.

I'm debating taking NBME 6 today/tomorrow so I can get a feel for where I am deficient
Edit: Changed my mind, I wanna clean up my UW notes before I take NBME 6. I'm following OME 2 month study plan so i'm gonna take NBME 6 on the weekend following completion of IM blocks (Week 3)

I just finished the old free 120 and am kinda freaking out! I told myself those were my last practice questions I was going to do. Test is Friday!!!

I'm going to do my Anki tonight and tomorrow morning, but call it good on questions. Why do I have anxiety about being 'done' studying? Its all I've done for the last 4 weeks..really only one break day. Trying to remain confident and trust that I've put in the work, and by now, nothing I'm going to do is going to have a major impact on my score. My real goal is above >250. But honestly anything >240 is fine. Anyone care to predict/give me a confidence boost/help quell my nerves?

UW First Pass: 70.6% throughout M3 year
NBME 6: 241 (4 weeks out, baseline)
NBME 7: 230 (3 weeks out)
NBME8: 254 (2 weeks out)
UWSA1: 253 (10 days out)
UWSA2: 257 (6 days out)
New Free 120: 82.5% (3 days out)
Old Free 120: 89% (2 days out)
UW Second Pass: 88% with 41% complete

There’s a really good chance you score above 250 given these practice test scores as long as you focus and try your best on the real thing

Got my score yesterday (May 22nd). Still in shock. Never expected to do better than my practice test scores. I left feeling ok about the test, but definitely not great.

UW1: 251
NBME 7: 250
NBME 8: 252
NBME 6: 250
UW2: 259
New Free 120: 79

Real thing: 266

UW1: 256
UW2: 256

Are scores coming back quicker now? If you took it May 22nd and got your score back Wed June 3rd, that's less than 2 weeks ago. I got my score back yesterday as well and I took it the week before.

Yes I was just as surprised as you are that it came back so soon!

I consider myself one of the lucky ones to have not been cancelled. Took the real deal June 1.

Study strategy:
-Did all of my reading, OME videos, review podcasts during core clerkships. Really went hard for shelf exams (>90%ile on all core so far). Tons of Anki (I chose Dorian).
-First pass of UW during clerkships alongside relevant material.
-Reset UW ~4 weeks out -- 3-4 blocks/days, with some catch-up days sprinkled in where I completed more. Spent ~30 min-1 hr reviewing my blocks... I chose to focus on test-taking strategy >>> reviewing content that I already felt solid about. No additional reading/videos/flashcards, as I already felt I built a solid foundation over the last year.
-Reviewed incorrect Q's from my second pass the 2-3 days prior.

Stats:
-Step 1: 248
-UW 1st pass: 80%
-UW 2nd pass: 86%
-NBME 6: 268 (2 weeks from test date)
-NBME 7: 240 (taken the first day of my dedicated period for a baseline, at ~4 weeks out)
-NBME 8: 265 (5 days from test date)
-USAW1: 272 (1.5 weeks out)
-USAW2: 266 (3 days out)

Goal for CK is 260+ but will be grateful to meet or beat my step 1 score in any capacity. The exam felt similar in formatting to the NBME's, with the difficulty level slightly above UW. Overall, I am caught between feeling grateful to have a score to put on my application and feeling like absolutely trash about the level of difficulty. Crossing my fingers that the experimental questions are why I felt that way, but honestly CK was a beast IMO.

Does anybody have an explanation for why UWorld makes the practice assessments have shorter time periods than Step 2 itself?

UWSA 2–> 57,57,57,54 min for forty questions in each block.

took the damn thing on friday. i have no idea how to feel. first few blocks were far more straightforward than i was expecting, but as I worked through the test it was more and more 'wtf'. i have NO idea how i did. hoping scores come back quick like they have for people above.

ugh. i know everyone says they feel like crap afterwards, but yeaaa, i really feel like crap

If your print permit disappeared and then all of a sudden you were now able to start an application for step 3 on FSMB, does this mean that you passed step 2? In past threads I thought it did, but on the top of the application it says "Acceptance of your online application is not an indication that you meet the requirements for Step 3." Is there any record of someone not passing after getting to this step of the trick?

Checking back in with all you peeps! Ready to get this exam out of the way to say the least. Unfortunately, I’ve still got 6 weeks until test day after my initial date was cancelled. Goal is 250+

UWorld 1st pass: 80%
NBME 7(today): 247

Super nervous I’m going to peak too soon and take my exam on the downslope. Any tips to stay fresh?

Anyone else seeing a lack of improvement on UW scores? Basically go between 77-82% on every single block... 41% done

I am not doing a ton of focused studying other than what is on the answer explanation.. wonder if I should start using a text book or some other resource??
I've been all over the place. Dropped some 90%+ and then some 65% ones. I honestly don't think it matters at all. You shouldn't really be improving a lot on step 2 bank compared to UW straight transforming you on step 1. It can't have the same effect.

Same boat here, but tbh even with step 1 my average score creep was minimal throughout dedicated maybe 3-4% from beginning to end at best. But yeah my step 2 UW average is the same its been since my first handful of blocks.

Yeah.. good point.. I started UW Step 1 at like 50-60% and was finishing at like 85%, you learn so much from it. It is a lot different for Step 2. I don't feel like I am learning a ton, just reviewing and trying not to forget

Had a block yesterday where I got 60 and then had 3 straight of 85%... I feel you

I felt like I jumped a lot on Step 1 UW just because I had never seen any of those... I did not mature anki decks or anything.

Step 2 I have matured dorian throughout the year and completed most of UW by February. More of a dont forget then actually learning new things

My test is in two days and I need advice on wether to postpone or not.

All exams within last two weeks. Goal is 240+
UWSA1: 246 (2 weeks ago)
UWSA2: 254 (7 days ago)
NBME8: 224 (within last week)
NBME7: 232 (1 day ago)

Low NBMEs are making me nervous.

Any advice appreciated

I'd say with a goal score of 240 go for it... The score predictor has a 224 on NBME 8 ~ 245 and 232 on NBME 7 at 252

Anybody have any insight on the new free 120 questions (2020)? I've heard that they are much harder and reddit seems to confirm this

I took them a couple days before my test. They were hard, yes, but on par with the harder and more convoluted questions on the real thing. I felt there were more gimmes on the real thing. I’d still recommend doing them — they’re questions written by the test makers, after all — but don’t dwell on your score too much especially because there are quite a few strange teamwork/professionalism questions that have been postponed from inclusion on the real CK due to covid.

I don’t have my score yet, so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I found them helpful.

I wanted to write this post to give an update after score release today. AMG and after print permit disappeared, the step 3 eligibility trick did work prior to score release (already passed step 1 and step2CS at that point), but the 1am one did not. My step 1 score was ~200, step2CK today ~230. I thought UW forms were close to style and length of questions, and uworld overall was spot on with many concepts. I used step up2 step2 textbook alongside uworld, and also rewatched some pathoma videos. For the mask you have to wear, my advice is to get a surgical one that you can tie which helps it not be so tight. It was nice to not have to sign out on breaks, and I was able to take the mask off while I ate lunch. Overall the staff were very nice at prometric. I also got cancelled several times but eventually one stuck, and I received a confirmation of appointment email a day before my test which was comforting. These are crazy times, but we can all do it!
UWForm 1: 204 (taken couple months before)
UWform 2: 211 (taken 3 weeks before)
Old Free 120: 80%
Uworld first pass: 57%
Did poorly on NBME's but used them mainly for another style of questions.
Real Step2CK: ~230.

Some updates after getting scores today. Like I said before, felt so bad after the exam. Didn't think I would come close to practice test scores. I always struggled with test anxiety and second guessing my answers all the way back from the SAT, MCAT, Step 1 which all led to significant underperformance. Luckily it worked out this time. TRUST your practice tests and preparation. Wishing everyone the best with everything going on! Keep pushing!

NBME 7 (4 weeks out): 226
NBME 6 (3 weeks out): 232
NBME 8 (2 weeks out): 230
UWSA 1 (1 week out): 249
Old Free 120 (4 days out): 87%
UWSA 2 (3 days out): 248
Step 2CK: 251

Right at your predicted score, great job! Glad to see people can walk out feeling like crap and still score well
