how does aacomas categegorize school years ? If it took you 5 years to earn your undergrad (3 year cc, 2 year university). Do you lay them out as "F", "Soph","Junior", "Senior","Senior" ?
I second this question, i am in the same boat!
Anyone has an idea? I emailed AACOMAS but have not heard anything back.

To enter pass / fail classes (not A-F), P for Pass, N for Non-Pass, is that correct?

And for AP credit; for course number and course name, course number should be the course number on my transcript (Ex: Calculus 1 is MATH 1721 for my school), but then for course name, should I do: AP Exam: Calculus BC, or the official name of the course that I got credit for at the U? (Called Calculus I)

Thanks!

If I was a personal tutor, should I put myself as a supervisor or just leave it blank? Any thoughts?

I just asked them that on the phone.. (They finnally started accepting calls...). She told me to go with our units. (0-30 unit-F, 30-60 Soph-, etc)

Hello everyone,
I searched for my question but nothing really came up. I am taking a summer class but would like to have my application in asap. Will I be able to add this extra class to my grades after I submit my app or would it be better for me to just wait till the class is over? It is a class that will help raise my gpa so I don't want this class not to be calculated in my gpa. Thanks

We sure are getting different answers lol
Just called them too, and the girl told me to label my first years of CC as freshman and other 2 years as sophomore, then my last two years in the university as junior and senior.

Is there a place to find the transcript request forms? The instructions indicate there should be a blue link in the "Colleges Attended" space, but it is not showing up there for me...or anywhere at all.

Does anyone know what to do about classes that aren't part of any semester? My school allowed us to skip Chem 1 provided we had good enough grades in highschool, but still get credit for it if we passed Chem 2. It shows up separately from any semester and without a grade so I don't know what to do with it.

Yes. That is what their intruction manual says, last two years should be Senior.

Anyone figured out how to know if they have my transcript?

If you have not received an email from them saying this, then they have not processed it yet:

"Dear cawolf,

We have successfully received and processed STATE UNIVERSITY transcript on your behalf.

To view the status of all your transcripts, please login to your AACOMAS application and click on Manage My Programs, then Program Status. Hover your mouse over the information icon for additional information.

Sincerely,

AACOMAS Customer Service"

Currently it seems like they are processing transcripts that were received at the beginning of this week.

If you have submitted, you can check by following the instructions in the above email.

There is no way of checking if they have it, but have not processed it, unless you FedEx'd it with a tracking number.

Oh... so I have to submit first?

It does not matter if you submitted or not.

For PS, talk about why osteopathic medicine or just why medicine in general?

I am wondering the same thing for the pass/fail courses

I have no clue how many hours or dates (other than month) I have worked at my various jobs. What are you guys doing?

@juice31

Counting the weeks I worked there, determining the average hours per week, multiplying, and subtracting time off.

Question for this cycle: Does an environmental science LOR qualify as a science course for LORs?

I don't have any achievements to add...is this going to hurt my application?

Also, when can we began submitting our application?

I am sorry if this question has been asked before.... After submitting, can we add schools later ? If yes, then it would be the same for people who have Fee assistance right ? (you just pay for every extra school you add).

You can add schools whenever you want. They are $35 each.

1) If I am waiting on getting a couple more hours of volunteering and shadowing, could I simply submit now and then add more experiences (not edit) in mid-June after I complete them?

2) What is the benefit to only applying to one school and then adding more after? Does this have anything to do with my first question whether some schools can see your experiences until its updated?

Sorry for the confusing questions.

Sorry for the confusing questions.

1) Add -> yes; edit existing -> no

2) I think it's for getting your primary transcript and stuff verified early and you can add additional experiences afterwards and not have to wait for it to be reverified? I'm not 100% sure. I'm doing this method personally because I'm short on money and can't afford to send to all my schools at once so want it to be verified first, see what my final sGPA is and then pick which other schools I really want to submit to

You can submit it anytime, the sooner the better!

Achievements:
Any awards you won, dean's list, honor rolls, scholarships, etc.
For tutoring enter it in the Experiences section.
Thank you!!! 🙂

Here's an update on various issues I and others have been having with AACOMAS based on an hour long phone call I had with them yesterday.

1. There is an issue with linking MCAT scores, I was told they will be posting them "sometime in June". I got the impression they want people to stop calling and asking about their scores.

2. There was an earlier question about course subject classifications in the course work section; I was told to be as specific as possible. If a course has no good fit, just put the department, otherwise try to get as close as possible. (i.e. a neurobiology course should be classified as "neurobiology", not "Biology")

3. I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet, but I am having an issue where schools for whom I finished filling out the prereqs section, trying to go back to the prereqs section results in a message saying "You have not listed any schools attended and therefore do not have to list prerequisites" (obviously I did list schools attended). According to AACOMAS it is a bug, they have submitted it to support and are supposed to call me when it is fixed, though they refused to give me any idea of how long that might be. So if you are getting that error, well, you're not alone.

Question! Too many posts to see if it was asked priorly but...
1. I got an email from my school that my transcript was received by AACOMAS. However, I have not received an email from AACOMAS. Are they possibly still processing? Or am I supposed to even receive an email from AACOMAS?
2. When we entered "colleges attended" a "download transcript request form" was available. I sent one school electronically and the other was through paper but requested online so therefore could not add a request form. Are they mandatory?

1. It takes lile 10 days for them to process I just got an email from aacom for a transcript sent on the 7th.

2. You were supposed to include your aacomas id on the address field if you couldnt use the face sheet. Don't know if ot was mandatory but it may slow things down.

Do you mean you requested a transcript online to be sent by mail? Or you requested electronic transmission of your transcript?

I don't think the AACOMAS accepts electronic transcripts - am I mistaken there?

the instructions say hard copy

When assigning the pre reqs for each school, did you guys only assign the minimum? For bio it says that advanced coursework like biochem, genetics etc is recommended. Should we assign those courses to the bio requirement then?
Also, for some of my courses it does not say that lab was included. For example, physics course title has no mention of a lab section. how will they know?

Can any one advise re future/planned coursework? I'm trying to enter a summer class for which I am already signed up and it won't let me choose 2015 for the year! Is anyone else having this difficulty?

How are you guys describing publications/presentations/abstracts in the achievements section?

Like for a presentation should you list all the names of the people in the lab who contributed to the poster? Should the research be described here at all, or is that best left for the a separate research activity section?

Edit:
Also, should scholarships or deans list be listed in this section?

Everyone on here has been selecting the minimum, I guess 3 credits vs 4 with lab.

Going along these same lines, if we have multiple classes that satisfy a prereqs should we add the ones we did best in or does it not matter?

post it up here in case others have the same question.. like me lol

It was if AACOMAS organizes our experiences in chronological order or anything. It does not, the order we input our experiences is how they will appear. Worth taking note, so that you input them in some sort of ordered fashion.

Just submitted and got this message:

Before
your application can be placed in line for verification, your application must have a status of ”Complete” and be assigned a Complete Date. In order to become “Complete” AACOMAS requires the following:
  1. Application is e-submitted and payment has been received.
  2. All required transcripts and/or any required foreign transcript evaluation(s) have been received.
  3. All required evaluations have been completed.

So, to even get in line for verification we need to have all of our evaluations in?!?
