That's what I did, I put everything exactly how it is on my transcript. I guess I wasn't clear enough, my question is basically if you think the course will still count as a retake. For example the first time I took it my transcript reads "physics 1010: intro applied physics" and the second time I took it it reads "physics 1010: general physics 1". The university just changed the title because they like the second one better. Literally 0 things changed about the course.

I submitted my application on the 2nd of June. I have two transcripts needing to be verified, the first is from my degree granting college and that was processed by AACOMAS on the 3rd of June and the second transcript is from the school I repeated some courses at and that transcript arrived on the 9th of June.

When should I roughly expect to have all of my grades and courses verified?

I submitted on 6/8 my time- 6/9 their time, with transcripts already in.
 
I had a quick question in regards to course entry. Since one of my BIOS courses changed course names; from homeostasis to Principles of Animal Physiology - would I enter the course description as Homeostasis (that is what appears on my transcript) or as Principles of Animal Physiology (the current name)? Please let me know.
 
Dumb question here.. but what are some examples of "Awards" that students typically put for the award section of aacomas? Honor roll? Is it lethal to not have any awards besides say, honor roll/dean's list type of thing?
 
For your shadowing experiences, did you include both MD and DO shadowing or only DO? Would it look bad if I included MD shadowing since this application is for DO schools - like will the adcoms be like "Oh MD shadowing, maybe he should do MD?" Or the more the better? Thanks!

For my awards I used Dean's list for all semesters during undergrad in one listing.
I also had a department award during graduation.

I don't think it's lethal, but it's nice to be a decorated student. If you don't have any, it's not like they will hate you for it lol.

You can also include presentations, perhaps your school did a senior capstone?

I recommend getting a copy of your official transcript from your school's registrar and copying exactly what is said on it. If your transcript includes the new name use the new name.

Per AACOM:
  • COURSEWORK MUST MATCH YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS EXACTLY. Be certain to list your courses under the correct term, year, and class level at which they were taken. Department prefixes and course numbers must be precise replicas of those on your transcripts.
  • Refer To Your Official Transcripts
    Request your own copy of your transcripts from EACH school you have entered to assist you in entering your coursework properly. Do NOT rely on computer printouts or only request your primary college’s transcript and rely on transfer information to report your work, as this often differs from the official transcripts AACOMAS receives and will cause your application to be returned to you for correction.
This is important so your verification is not delayed.

Enter what is on your transcript. Also to your second question just list all shadowing, no one cares if you shadow MDs, just make sure to shadow at least one DO so you can talk about it in interviews

I don't think it would be lethal--but you can always put Dean's list, or maybe a scholarship you earned, or even graduating with honors-- I did a lot of that with my app. Maybe employee of the month if you have past work exp?

Btw does anyone know if it's okay to put under your shadowing hours that it was primarily MDs and not DOs, I pretty much exclusively shadowed MDs(and did research under an MD) with the few exceptions where I was part of a program that rotated between shadowing physicians in a variety of fields(some were DO and some were MD--I wrote in the description box that it was just "physicians" in general--will this hurt me?)

I applied without anything there. No scholarships, papers, or dean's roll. All I have is employee of the month at work and that's about it.
 
Question here: Freshman year I got in trouble for having empty booze bottles in my dorm. I had to have a meeting with my hall's RA and go to an alcohol safety class. I was placed this behavior probation type thing saying if I got caught again I would actually be in trouble for real. I was told this wouldn't be on my records since I passed my probation thing and it was my 1st and only offense but honestly I don't really remember since this was 6ish years ago now. I didn't report this on my app but is this actually an IA?
 
Question: As a current Ph.D. student how should I present my dissertation? Should I make two different "experiences" one detailing my dissertation and one detailing what I gained from it? Thanks in advance.
 
How much is spending "too much" on primary apps for DO schools only? What price range would you guys suggest sub 1.5k for only DO?
 
Hi everyone! I submitted my application June 6th, with transcript already received. Had my application verified today.

Does anyone know when schools send secondary applications? and if there are many schools that offer EVERYONE a secondary application? Trying to figure out ways to save money lol.
 
Hello! I took a 3 part class called "Leadership & Institution" . The course objectives are as follows:
-Enhance the educational value of your CUIP internship by ensuring that you reflect on the context for, the goals of, and the potential impact of your project activities and its outcomes.
• Develop your communication and leadership skills in the context of your internship and through collaboration with your CUIP colleagues.
• Develop an understanding of the complexities and context of UCSC as an institution.
• Develop an understanding of how your projects contribute to UCSC’s mission and effectiveness.

And the description is:
Through lectures by senior administrators and student consensus-and-recommendation teams, students learn how leaders work with constituent groups, build cooperation, and develop implementation plans in an institution such as the University of California, specifically, UC Santa Cruz.

How should I list this classify this course? I can't think of any of the options that this works for...except maybe "Management"
 
I submitted my transcripts last July of 2015, but in my aacomas this year it says they have been received. Nothing has changed from my transcripts, I just want to know if they will expire next month because I already submitted my application???

I submitted application June 3rd, 3 transcripts received by AACOMAS June 7th, Verified June 14th. You should be verfied soon if you are not already 🙂

I don't have personal experience but if it helps, I think they'll accept it. A poster above stated using post Bach courses with entirely different names as retakes and they were accepted!

What did you guys do for paragraph breaks in your personal statement? I pressed "enter" 2 times for a clean line between each paragraph. How about you guys?

I did the same.

"Formatting Restrictions

Since the essay section is composed of a text box, formatting such as tabs, italics, or multiple spaces cannot be saved. In order to delineate paragraphs, you should type a double return between paragraphs."

2 questions:
1. Does the order in which you enter activities matter? Does AACOMAS reorder them to be chronological like in AMCAS?
2. How do you know when to shorten class names? When I hit preview transcript, the entire course name doesn't show up, but I can click on the box with the name and scroll to see the full name.

I also noticed it was for the one online class I took as an undergrad. Did they make a mistake? Or is it because its online I don't get the A? That may be stupid reasoning but Im just a little confused! I emailed them, but I wanted to know if anyone else had an answer in the meantime. Thanks to anyone who can help me 🙂

Sounds like a mistake. I have online classes and none of the grades were changed.

You should just call and as long as you're correct they will fix it asap. Whereas email it takes like a day+ . I had done the professional transcript entry and they gave me a C+ instead of B+ and they left out a CAS grade for like 6 classes... so I called and it was fixed over the phone.
 
I might just be overanalyzing... I have completed my application and I am just matching my prereqs to the programs. A lot of the DO schools say MCAT scores taken three years ago are okay. I took mine in May 2014..Is that okay because by the time I get into a school and attend it would be August 2017??

Did anyone's transcripts get verified yet today? If so, would you please tell me when your application was submitted completely?

Mine was in entirely on June 9th (that's when my transcripts were received and processed). When the heck am I gonna get verified here?

Just got a BCOM secondary, the question is definitely not what I expected.
 
Just realized you have to send your MCAT scores from AMCAS to AACOMAS...I just did that now...will that delay getting secondaries?
 
Does anyone know if I am planning on retaking a class this summer, that I can resubmit my final grades?

That'll be school dependent I'm pretty sure...it only takes AACOMAS. ~ 1-2 days to update your application with MCAT score.

Yeah, I got secondaries from ROWAN and VCOM...just wondering if other schools were hesitant in sending secondaries without first receiving MCAT scores...

ugh...they should post this in the application and not hidden away in the instructions...unless I missed it in the application of course...

First time applying DO...do schools send out II without LoR in or after?

I might get them in late July

I was verified, entered all my MCAT scores into AACOMAS and provided my AAMC ID....What do you mean send MCAT scores from AMCAS to AACOMAS? If I'm verified does that mean all schools have my MCAT scores?

Oh crud I just realized I had to send them to aacomas from AAMC MCAT page.....will this slow down my app a lot?

Do you have to send your scores to AMCAS as well I mean do you have to do the same thing for sending to the MD application...
 
Do you have to send each score? Say you send this score (current) but are retaking it in future - do you have to resend that future score or will it automatically be updated?
