In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

PCR, PCR and more PCR. Too bad there were no PCR ?s on my form. Stupid MCAT!!! 😡

I presume this is some kind of community thread, so since I don't want to start a new thread, I'll post my question here, and hopefully I'll get a response.

How exactly do you sign up to see your mcat scores. I registered for the april test, and took it. And I see you have to sign up again since they're different things. But when it says to first give them your registration name, and then you can register. So I do that, it doesn't work. Then I give them my email (the same one I got a confirmation to, so I KNOW it's right, though I'm unsure of my username/password). It says it doesn't recognize the email. So then I go through and reregister, and say that I had already registered when I get to that page, and it says it doesn't recognize me. WTF? I know my info is correct, since everything was right on the card they had sent me.

Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do?

Thanks for the help.

When you create your AMCAS account, you'll be able to use that as a login ID and password for checking the MCAT Thx for your scores.

I just got a letter from Princeton Review in the mail that said that scores would be ready around June 7th.

😱

Yeah, I got that too, but when I called them up to see how the heck they knew that- they pretty much just said that was a guess 😡 . They shouldn't throw around numbers like that. That letter was also very uncool b/c they just hyped princeton review by saying everyone should have been able to answer all the questions correctly using what princeton taught us. BS.

I think we should file a class action lawsuit against the AAMC because waiting for the MCAT score release has caused reporteted incidences of hypertension, anxiety, and a decrease in quality of life. Any takers?

I am ON! count me in! these people need to see what the damage they have done to perfectly capable smart smart harwroking people! hehe!! i would love to take an AAMC test writer and show him/her or it might be an IT some kung FU moves, that would make my day!

yes, this would be a reply to thy self. I would like to share what happend to me after the mcat.

I lost all my friends. I think I developed social anxiety for isolating myself for so long. My family did not recognize me at the airport when they went to pick me up. ( I Lost much weight due to getting answers wrong during my practices and this totally surpressed the appetite!) its the best diet ever.. take the damn MCAT to loose weight!

Also, what the hec was all the amino acid q's about! i HAD TO KNOW WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE ! I SWEAR YOU GUYS! 6 questions at least about AA!!

one more thing, then i will shut-up..

i am psycho, i kept looking at my notes from studying.. AND AND... it gets better.. graded a test that i took wed prior to the REAL exam (i was too scared to grade that one being so close to the real test) and went over it!!

+pissed+ +pity+ what the hell is wrong with me!?! diagnose anyone?!

No way, they sit there going through the questions one-by-one, laughing it up. "Haha this ******* didn't know Bernouli's Equation -- Give him a 4!" or "Kids today, how can they not know what an epitope is? On MY MCAT, we had to MAKE an epitope." That's why it takes so long.

damn I MISSED that questioN!! i put protien when it is an antibody!! i want to hit my head ag the wall!!

I became spastic while studying and ruined a decent relationship.

You have post-MCAT syndrome. This weekend I finally was able to rejoin the legion of the living and go out with friends to dinner and NOT think about the MCAT for a while. Still, here I am tonight avoiding work and thinking of the MCAT. Argh!!

Hehe actually, an Epitope is RECOGNIZED by an antibody...for further clarification...wikipedia once again....

"An epitope is that part of a macromolecule that is being recognized by the immune system, specifically by antibodies, B cells, or cytotoxic T cells. Although usually epitopes are thought to be derived from nonself proteins, epitopes are also sequences from the host that can be recognised.

Most epitopes can be thought of as three-dimensional surface features of an antigen molecule; these features fit precisely and thus bind to antibodies. Exceptions are linear epitopes, which are determined by the amino acid sequence (the primary structure) rather than by the tertiary structure of a protein.

Epitopes can be mapped using protein microarrays, and with the ELISPOT or ELISA techniques.

Epitopes that are recognised by common antibodies can be fused to genes, thus aiding further molecular characterization of the gene product. Common epitopes used for this purpose are c-myc, HA, FLAG, V5."

On the upside, it is officially May. This means only a little over a month left to go before scores come out.

After this week is over it will be 6 weeks left. Just think that 1.5 weeks went by quickly. I'm sure the rest will go by quickly too. Oh btw, isn't AMCAS supposed to come out today??????

So what were you all doing up on SDN at 3AM??? Were you studying for finals or just bored and posting at random hours????????

I was just getting up and then falling back asleep when you guys were posting last night. 😛

I took TPR and they usually tend to be wrong. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if scores came out about a week after the 7th, like between the 14th and 16th. That would be closer to the time it came out in the last 2 years post April date of MCAT.

Technically, isn't an antibody a type of protein molecule??

Its 4 AM PST and im absolutely wasted. I guess this is the post mcat binge but screw it. i dealth with frat elections, jim bizzeam, remy, and cops today. what it is. i was gonna say a word instead of wasted but iono if this forum sensors the shieeeett or any other swear words of that nature. june here i come with amcas and mcat scores. thank god i had a 2 week brk between mcats and midterms. cops suck. for sure. but freals im jus waitin ona score.

epitopes are antigenic determinants. although usually epitopes are thought to be derived from nonself proteins, epitopes are also sequences from the host that can be recognized. (courtesy of wikipedia).

basically it's the 3-D structure of the specific antigen that makes it recognizable.

Thanks for the clarification. I've obviously forgotten my immunology.

😀
the only reason why i knew that one on the test was because i did lots of immunology research related to my senior project. total dumb luck.

I think that Epitope question will haunt my dreams. My exact thought process when I saw the question: "WTF is that? I've never even seen that word! Crap. I swear it looks like epitome. Are they making crap up now just to freak us out? Well - this will be a guess but... A is for admission. There we go. Next question."

Oh that sucks. I work with antibodies in the lab so I was fortunate enough to be familiar with epitopes.

Its funny because there was a question in a passage on the MCAT on form BG that actually had an answer choice that described what an epitope was....

Hey don't have time to read the other posts, but AMCAS is up for those of you who need something to help take mind off MCAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for you all!!!

i'm still confused on what the right answer is for epitope. was there a choice for antigen??? i think i put antibody. dammnnn!!!!!!!!!

I think only one of the "antibody"/"antigen" choices was in there... That was a really cruel question to ask. I think I might have gotten it right using POE... hopefully...

I had form BP, and I'm pretty sure antibody and antigen both weren't choices- I remember selecting antigentic determining something or another.

Yeah, you're right. I think that's the only immunology related answer there...

You guys, thinking about it might only make it worse. Changing the subject from this talk about immunology questions, have any of you started your AMCAS??? Just curious.

My info that I put in early by accident on the 2006 application carried over to the 2007 application 👍 .

i started it, but the stuff i had accidentally entered on the 2006 app DIDN'T show up. hmm. i used the same login name and everything!

The correct choice is an Antigen Determining etc...an Antibody recognizes an Epitope, without Immunology or high level Physio this is a difficult question.

Has anyone else had their old info carry over?

Yeah from 2006 it carried over, so I am pretty much done, just working on my personal statement and making sure I have all the correct work/activities entered hehe.

Yay! I'll be starting mine tonight. 🙂

I'm sure it's antigen... Antigen is big molecule and epitope is the area on that molecule where the antibody will recognize and bind.
nearly 100% sure

I haven't taken either Immunology or Physiology but when I saw that question I couldn't help but smile. I knew the answer because of a lab I took last quarter. There were also other questions for which the lab techniques were useful; I just kept thanking God for taking the lab at such an opportune time.

But it’s ridiculous that the AAMC says you only need general biology for the MCAT BioSci section, I think that’s a blatant lie. 👎

🙄 Just finished everything, just putting my last touches on my Essay, I have been working on it for a few months. After tomorrow, I will be bored again 🙄

You are right, "general biology" is becoming more and more of an understatement. From my experiences, It seems like the sciences on the MCAT are realllly geared more and more towards experimental data and concepts that are used in lab. Just a thought 😎

I have to do some work on my personal statement, but that's about it. I entered everything in this afternoon. I need to double check a few course classifications but otherwise everything else is done.

cool. Hey if anyone wants me to look over Personal statements next week, I'll see if I can help a little bit. I'll be free next week or after tomorrow actually.

Nah just lucky that they don't have to refill everything out since it was saved into the AMCAS system. My former roommate had the same thing happen when he had to reapply. He didn't need to refill all the info out again, just minor changes like if his number changed or changes in his personal statement.

Most of AMCAS, out of the personal statement and activities section is tedious busy work. I like to think of it as the longest and most expensive resume you'll ever make.
