In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

Hey everyone. I am anxiously awaiting scores. I have taken the MCAT once before, so I've got a question. Do med schools compile your best MCAT section scores to get your composite score? Or do they use the best composite score? I am really curious about this.

I think it varies considerably from place to place. I was recently looking at the Tufts Med School website, and they compile your best sections scores...

Some are being told that despite the announcement, scores will be available online on the 12th or 13th and by mail after that (probably by the 20th).
oops, I crapped my pants. :scared:

My family is a wee bit frustrated with me too. Everytime I sit down at the computer my sister says "they're not out til Monday"

haha, your sister and my brother have something in common

The bad part will be when the page is actually loading... I'll be certain -- the sort of certainty that comes from the pit of your stomach -- that all the scores I've envisioned myself getting were just self-delusion, and something's about to come up on the screen that will crush me like a bug.

But I'd rather be crushed like a bug sooner than later.
well-worded. I felt rather delusional the first time I checked my scores. I would keep checking days thereafter hoping there was a big mistake. Actually, I misread my writing score at the airport...but sadly that was all I misread. ugh, we must put on our mcat 3-D glasses and swallow some happy pills...maybe something will look good. I even contemplated having my exam re-checked. What mental anguish this test brings upon such innocent and dedicated souls....
:luck:

My mom was the opposite. I think *she* was more anxious for the scores to come out than I was. :meanie: My dad was going, "Geez, look what they make you kids do. We didn't have to take the MCAT back when I was applying to med school." I was shocked. My dad really did go to med school without having taken the freaking MCAT. :wow: Of course, that was in the 1950s, and he's a DO, but still....

It's interesting to consider what the MCAT would have looked like in the 50's, as this was before the biomolecular boom that was just getting started around that time. The biological sciences section would have had to focus extensively on physiology and phylogeny, I imagine...

Everyone is talking about checking your scores online but I don't know where to go! I don't remember making a password that to sign up for the MCAT, or what my username was, or anything like that...
Where do I go?! Would it show up automatically on my AMCAS app that I am already working on?!
Thanks guys 😳

the page doesn't load...it just appears. if you keep yourself logged into THx, you can just hit the refresh button over and over again. and then one magical (or not so magical) time when you hit the refresh button, the scores appear.

yeah there's no warning--your scores will just suddenly appear.

Same here, need scores to figure out where I am, or am not, applying to

me 3 and it totally sucks. Its scares me to known that these idiots who take 60 days to scan a test are determining me entering medical school or not. I think they need to do some studying and take a test on how to operate a major testing facility properly and efficiently.

Soar

When we were anxiously awaiting our scores last year, I remember that someone posted a screen shot of the way the scores would look on screen and it actually helped to alleviate a tiny bit of my anxiety. Has that been done yet this year? If not, I'd be happy to post one, if someone can tell me an easy way to post an image.

I think I will be wearing these until June 22nd:

I thought that the section scores would appear in the order you took them in, ps, vr, wr, then bs, I guess not.

Nope, they sure don't. Sorry the image is so big, everyone, btw.

Ugh, that means the section i am most worried about appears first 🙁 🙁

Although it does not matter too much.

dizamn...i wish that 38R were my score 🙂

Don't we all wish that was our score!!!!!!! Or better yet, can we steal Q's 43S or Lorelei's 43?????????? muawahahahahahahahaha

I just got back from volunteering in the ER, and found out that a doc there has a daughter who is doing one of those 7 year undergrad/med school combo programs. So she didn't have to take the MCAT, but CHOSE to take it anyway, just to try and beat her dad's score (38 I think) from when he'd taken it ages ago. She succeeded and got a 42. I can't imagine taking that beast if I didn't have to...

So when she got the super high score did she decide to try and see if she could get in somewhere else or stick with 7 year program???? That's funny actually. I kinda admire for sacrificing her time and doing it anyways.

She stuck with the 7 year program. At least she beat her dad though... Imagine doing all the work and extra studying when you didn't have to, just to lose the contest...

At least she didn't have an acceptance riding on it. She should teach for one of those prep companies and make some extra spending cash. With that score she'd qualify.

Thanks JustBreathe... that actually helped a little!
It really did.
Especially to remove the shock value if our series happens to be a plausible but incorrect total MCAT score. Now we know to look for it.

Yeah... But for some reason, it doesn't show the SSN for me. It just shows my name and my AAMC ID. I hope it's fine...

JustBreath,
That screen shot you posted is very very helpful. I really appreciate it. I had been wondering if the scores would just show up like that, or if there would just be a hyperlink saying something like "April 2006 Test Date Results". It really does help to reduce some stress knowing what to expect. Your the Bomb.

I am feeling queasy. 😱

It took me nearly 20 minutes to catch up on this thread!! I really do hope that this is the last business day we go through waiting for the scores. I refuse to send out my AMCAS before the the scores come, but I think I might just submit it this Wednesday regardless to my state schools.

We are oh sooooo clooooooose.........

I think it is all schools on your list or none right? Can't modify app once it is submitted?

You can add schools as you go, as long as it is before the deadline. I am certain of this.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure most under/MD programs still require the MCAT. Most of them have pretty low score requirements. Maybe she's an exception.

I'm sorry, just wanted to clarify. So once I finish the application with....say, a 'partial' list of schools, I could add additional schools before the school's application deadline?

Thanks

That seems to be what was said. But just in case, I think I would rather have all my ducks in a row up front. No sense in taking chances with something that could be very important. But we could always ask the AMCAS people to find out for sure.

Yes, you can definitely add schools up until their deadline. How else could you apply EDP, and then add schools later if you don't get in EDP?

I know I read the specific rule about this somewhere - probably in the AMCAS instructions. It's a very long pdf file, but if you haven't read the whole thing yet, I would suggest that you do. 🙂

No problem. It helped me last year and I'm glad it helped some people this year. 🙂

It's people like her who screw up the curve for dumb people like me, taking the test when she doesn't have to... Then again, it's a free society, so power to her...
