So I have seen posts on the 20th and the 16th but nothing for the 14th. I can't wait to get this over with, counting when my kaplan course started I will have been MCATting (not a word) since October and I can't take it anymore. Most frusturating part is that I didn't have that much time to restudy, but at least I got a seat. Anyway, who's ready to take it, I know facts cold but anytime I think about the test my left arm goes numb and my face droops a little. If only I didn't get that 7 in verbal on June 15th+pity+ (I apologize for abusing smiley faces in my posts there just so cool)

The scores for August 14 exam are slightly delayed. We hope to release them early next week. Please check this page for updates.

you have got to be kidding me...this is beyond ridiculous now
what is the point of taking the test so early if you can't even get your scores on time. Yes I was pissed with a 2 days delay but now we have to wait till next week and even worst they are so vague about when it will be released...such BS

There should seriously be some compensation for this...they don't even have the dignity to add a little "we apologize for this massive inconvenience and our stupidity" to their update...
ahhh

this is ridiculous. im so mad. i expected wednesday to be pushed back but this is insane.

if these jokers cant get out scores back in a month, how the hell do the expect to get the scores back in 2 weeks next year??????

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while . . .

I also took the August 14th MCAT, and I don't think I've ever been so frustrated! Is this the worst delay yet this year? It seems like it . . . all I can say is that I sincerely hope they have told some people that they're going to have to come in over the weekend. If we have to be in agony this weekend, they should too!

Hmmm... Maybe I am checking the wrong site. I don't see the "Monday" message. When I follow the link to AAMC's site it still says "Friday". I am a little confused...

I strongly doubt they are even going to think about this exam again until monday. They probably went home early today.

The overreaction on this thread is hilarious. Today is a month from your exam. You were going to get your results earlier than a month, now you won't. Big deal. It's just a couple of days. Put it in perspective people. There are Americans in Iraq wondering if they'll make it through the weekend or if they will get blown to bits in vain as a result of lies told by the Bush administration. Waiting till Monday doesn't seem like a big deal anymore, does it?

........... Thanks for the advice dad. 😴

Sadly, I'm sure you're right about that. In most jobs, when you don't make a deadline, heads roll. However, there just doesn't seem to be that kind of accountability going on at AAMC . . . grrrr!

As for compensation, how about if we all get a couple of extra points, and no one tells the schools. 😉 I mean, after all of this waiting, I feel we deserve something to look forward to. 😀

Jamilla, with all due respect, its not your responsiblity to come onto this board and tell other people to chill out... if you dont know the circumstances of others please dont talk. In my own case, I am leaving abroad very soon and was counting on those scores being released on wed so that I could potentially schedule some immediate interviews. Instead I will now have to fly back to the US at great cost and inconvenience to myself..and yes, all becuase of a FEW DAYS.

Hey, I argue for and campaign for Ron Paul and getting out of Iraq asap just as ardently as I complain about MCAT score delays. 🙄

just because other people have things worse than we do, doesn't make what we are feeling less significant. Someone always has it worse than you. So b/c people are dying in iraq, and hungry in africa nobody is ever allowed to be upset/frustrated?

P.S. I agree this is a minor aspect in the whole scope of life, but its a big deal to us, at this time on this particular thread

There is no way that they would have even contacted you for an interview let alone set one up and conduct one a few days after score release.

It seems I have sidetracked this thread. (Defensive much everyone?) Let's put an end to that and end this discussion.

ACTUALLY. This last tuesday was "one month" from our original testing date (Tues Aug 14th)- NOT today. If they release scores next Tuesday that will have been five weeks from the original testing date. It would have been better if they had overestimated score release predictions if they were not able to follow through on their word of releasing in one month. My roomate tooke the DAT and got her scores immediately- a way better system in my opinion. (and don't give me alecture on the writing section/scoring/taking more time/blahblahblha- no one even cares about that section anyway!!)

I don't think it's an overreaction at all, you don't know everyone's specific situation so I don't think you should be "preaching" to us. For some of us the only thing holding up our file for completion to schools is the mcat score, for others we need our score because we will be retaking the test on sept 16th. We are allowed to be angry at the fact that we paid money for a service that is more than lacking in its delivery and the fact that no one is giving us a straight answer. Also just to note, it never said we will receive our scores on Monday, it says next week, once again they are vague...

Again, you make yourself look like an ass for talking about something you have no idea about. I personally contacted several schools and explained my situation...telling them that I am leaving to work abroad for a year and that it will be very difficult for me to return for an interview during the school year. As my application was otherwise strong, a few of these schools agreed that if my MCAT scores came in on the 12th they would expediate my application review and potentially offer me an immediate interview. If my scores would have come in on wed this might have been possible, if they come in on monday this will certainly NOT be possible since im leaving on thursday. Im not saying that I would have definately gotten an interview and that they definately would have been able to schedule an interview for me in that short of time..maybe its even unlikely. In any case I would have liked to have that option as a possiblity rather than an impossiblity.

Why don't you actually research what you have to say before you post such words.

http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=41721

For the same matter, the same author of the anti-black article you found wrote a scathing description of congressman Barbara Johnson to which Ron Paul responded "Other people help me with my newsletter as I travel around. I think the one on Barbara Jordan was the saddest thing, because Barbara and I served together and actually she was a delightful lady.""

Does this completely free Paul from doubt? No, but his fiscal responsibility and foreign policy (the 2 most important issues in my opinion) are the most sensible of any politician.

Is anyone in this situation...?

I took the Aug. 14 and didn't feel very good about it (ran out of time on a lot of verbal and had to guess on the last passage). I wasn't going to retake it until they added the Sept. 16th because by then I was supposed to have gotten my scores back. I just started a new job and really haven't studied in a month. Should I take the retake anyway???

For Jamilla, yet another example of how this delay can **** you over in more ways than one. Personally, I realize I am just bitching about something that isn't hugely a big deal to my own situation, but this poster risks screwing her application over since she doesn't have scores from the August 14th administration, which were supposed to come out, which would have molded her decision to retake. (sorry for putting words in your mouth).

How did you feel you did on Aug 14th? If you think you're not ready for the retake, it may do more harm than good. Of course it'd be nice if you knew your score...maybe try calling them and making them feel sorry for you and granting you an exception by telling you your score? (good luck)

I would wait until January. Who knows, maybe you ended up doing ok on the Aug test

I wouldnt retake if i haven't studied for a month. you can always write it and decide to void in the end, but any many people felt they actually did well and ended up bombing it so you don't want to take that risk.
Did you call the AAMC and tried to get a real date about when they will release?

Absolutely appalling. I can't believe this whole score release. It is funny that they charge us $50.00 to change a test date. We should get a $50.00 credit for them changing the release date to nearly a week late! It is frustrating when all you are waiting for is an MCAT score to complete your application.

You know...I wouldn't be as frustrated if they would give us an EXACT date now and actually stick with it. 😡

At least they didn't wait until 5 to tell us about the delay this time (I guess they wanted to leave before 5 today...)

Are you applying for entrance in Fall of '08?

If so, then you need to make sure the schools you're applying to will accept the Sept. MCAT. There are a bunch that won't.

If you're going to apply for Fall of '09, then by all means, do not retake now! Wait until January or whenever you have more time to study. I didn't study while I was waiting for the May 25th results to come out, and it really put me in a bad position to take the August 14th. However, I am hoping that I did better because, like you I totally ran out of time and guessed on one verbal passage my first time, but this time I finished. (Side note: I REALLY want to know how I did right now . . . arrrrgh!)

I say, if you think that the ONLY reason you didn't do well was that you ran out of time, maybe the retake is worth it, but if you are feeling very unprepared now, you certainly don't have time to get prepared by Sunday. It would be a risk.

Good luck . . . sounds like an awful situation. 🙁

Yeah, that's funny too since they don't open until 9:00AM! Maybe they should get there at 8:00 like most offices.

To Jam:
Seeing that these scores are pretty much the deciding factor in where and what I'll be doing in the next 2 years, I would say yeaaaaa they are quite significant to me. Maybe I am just not as composed as you are to sit around and take it from AAMC. I find this very therapeutic in the sense that I can vent my anger and frustrations here. If you don't approve, I have a solution for you: STOP POSTING IN THE THREAD or READING IT. If would you step down from your pedestal for a second then you might understand that the normal reaction is one of frustration. No one appreciates living on the edge for a whole week, and I specially don't appreciate someone trying to give me advice on my life when they are clueless about who I am. Thank you, good bye.

I'm definitely applying for Fall of '08. I'm a post-bac student, and I really don't want to wait another year. I think I am just going to suck it up and take whatever scores I got, I just know I'll be so upset if I didn't do well. How much did it hurt you on the first exam when you had to guess on a bunch of Verbal? I was making 12's or 11's in all of my practices, even diagnostic, so I'm really frustrated!

I sent AAMC this email:

Hello,
I am curious as to what is causing these score delays for the Aug 14th exam
and what "early next week" means exactly.

Thank you for your help.

and they just responded with this:

We're experiencing a technical issue in loading the scores to the Testing History Site.

We hope to have it resolved early next week, meaning Monday or Tuesday.

which means they have all our scores, but just can't put them on their website. for me, this makes it even more frustrating! just call in some freakin' computer techs to figure it out!!!

I hear ya . . . I'm a post-bac-er too and don't want to wait another year either! I was consistently getting 12s and even one 13 on practice tests, and I got a 10 on the verbal when I ran out of time and had to guess on the last passage. Knowing that I could do a couple of points better if I had just finished, and combining that with a low ps score, I decided I needed to retake. If you think you did well on the other sections, maybe your verbal won't hurt too much, but I know how it feels.

Good luck, whatever you decide. I would definitely call AAMC, explain your situation, and try to get your scores . . . it is certainly their fault that you do not know whether or not you need to retake at this point. I have to sign off now, but good luck!:luck:

They are truly incompetent if it takes them more than monday to figure how to upload scores on a website. On the other hand, it's already taken them more than thursday and friday as well, so i guess it really does mean "Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday..."

Well, I have mixed feelings about this. I am glad to hear that it is just a computer issue and that they really do have our scores. That gives me some hope for it releasing early next week. On the other hand, if it is just a computer issue, I agree...have someone come out and fix the freaking computer. Or go in on the weekend so that we don't have to wait!

Actually, I'm sort of hoping an AAMC rep will come and lay the smackdown on all of us so I can stop moaning and do something productive / social.

Something in the lines of

"Hey you guys,

This is what's wrong, we're doing our best to fix it, we don't have control of these variables, we've got this many things going on and we're trying to get a bazillion scores, curves, and scores linked to aamc accounts uploaded. So shut the hell up you goddamn OCD pre-med pipsqueaks.

Sincerely,

AAMC Norris."

And then I would say "just print out a diagnostic report and snail mail the results to us like you did in the past." It seemed to work better that way. At least they met their deadlines.

I understand that there are chances of having technical difficulty, but they need to give us an honest score release date instead of butter-coating it. I am just frustrated that they have moved it twice now.

Its looking like Aug. 14 and 20th test takers will be getting there scores at the same time. I took the 20th of aug, so I hope they dont pull this off because I need to summit my application just about now!!!

Jamilla,

I'm a veteran and also waiting on my MCAT scores. This incompetence is frustrating to me, personally, because I'm changing careers, moving my family and making great personal sacrifice (in addition to what I've already given to my county) to change careers. I can't move forward with applications until these scores are in, and the delay is affecting me every day it continues.

I don't follow your attempted correlation between the war, the President, presidential candidates or see how it is relevant to the present discussion. There are several other venues available on the web if you wish to continue with your political ranting. At any rate, the other members who wish to use this thread to express their frustration are certainly free to do so, regardless of armed conflicts taking place in countries around the world.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but such a delay for the 14th test (which I took and am so angry about I can't even put it into words, plus I don't want to be lectured or called racist since it's easy for a certain someone to throw that word around) will probably mean a subsequent delay for the 20th scores. Pessimistic, but I'm pullin for your route, einkec.

That's like the cliche argument, "OMG.. stop wasting food.. people in Africa are dying!" So what? My food isn't somehow going to Africa if I don't waste it.
