I can't say the same for myself! shoot, i'm only getting $4K!!! wtf, i wonder if i can get more money... and plus, i'm not getting any support from the parents. as far as i know, i'm paying ~90% in loans!
Are you going to CCLCM? If so, i was worried about this aspect of thier financial aid program. It differs from other schools in that it is enormously generous for people who demonstrate "need", but sets of a striking dichotomy with those students who are unable to show "need".
At most schools, the difference between people who demonstrate 100% need (ie,, they have no money and the EFC is $0) and those who demonstrate no need (ie., they have EFC's several multiples of the cost of attendance) is only about $11,000 in free money. The rest of the money, whether you have neen or not, is loans anyway. Hence, the non-needy student who has rich parents but who gets no money from them may take solice in the fact that he's only being penalized at most about $11,000 a year compared to the "needy" students.
However, this is not the case at CCLCM. There, the difference between needly students and those who demonstrate no need is a startling $35,000 in free money. That's a staggering penalty for those students who are in the unfortunate circumstance of having wealthy parents who will not pay.
Well, it will be a fantastic school - no doubt, but I think if it is the case that the HUGE grants are in fact "need-based", the financial aid system needs revision.
