*~*~* Official Class of 2022 Thread!! *~*~*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Honestly, yes! I'm super excited to see what happens. Right now I'm studying for the MCAT, working on my statement, and finalizing my school list. I'm also still volunteering and doing research. You?

About the same as you and others, except not MCAT since that is fortunately over for me but doing research, volunteering, school list, starting to work on PS. Mostly gawping at my PS from the last time I applied. It's amazing how much you can mature in just a couple years...

Yeah, MSTP programs are pretty competitive so I understand. Good luck!

I'm still finalizing my list but for now, I have 15 schools. I may or not add a couple more.

15 is my goal too, but I've fallen in love with 21 different schools need to narrow down more....apps are so expensive...

Thanks and sadly, no. Haha, I found this pic on google. When I first joined this site, I noticed a lot of people had cat avatars. I'm more of a dog person and samoyeds are one of my favorite breeds. Hard to find one that is not super friendly! Eventually, I'll adopt one.

Ahhh I have been wanting a dog for ages and it's gonna take all I can give to not adopt one in med school. Don't think it would be good for the dog.... But it's so tempting. I might have to settle for a cat

Sooo how is everyone doing? It's crazy to me that I only have a month and a half until college classes are over!! 😱 I'm starting to have fun making school lists (that I will then have to cut down as to not spend too much money), and should really get to editing my PS.

What are your stats? Where are you looking at? AHHH this is such an exciting process to watch when it's not my butt on the line.

Well congrats on your acceptance(s)! 🙂 My LizzyM is ~80 and unfortunately my school list is looking really top-heavy at the moment... I'm currently going through and looking at all of the schools more carefully to make more deliberate decisions.

Joining this thread just now. Hi everyone!! Currently working on my personal statement, LORs, and school list. It's so crazy how time flies and that we are getting ready to apply..

In some sense, I'm glad that my school committee does things ridiculously early (all of our LORs were already due if we wanted a committee letter). It's a little stressful now with the early deadline, but I think it will be less stressful later. My personal statement, on the other hand... :arghh:

Way to go iris!

Thanks! 🙂

glad to see this thread becoming active. we should make it more popular and active than a related thread in nontrad forums... which was created few months after this thread.

Lawper, when are you actually applying? I feel like I've seen you around for so long that I've figured you would already be a medical student!

Mysterious 😛

Bump.

How are those PS's and LoR's coming everyone?

I was so ready on the day it opened and I filled in all the easy stuff. So now I just have these gaping maws of empty text boxes staring back at me from the work/experience and PS pages :vomit:

Ditto. I'm so irrationally stressed about the work/activities section! Taking the MCAT on Saturday, though, so I really have zero worry to spare on the application until after that. Lol

Haha yeah the activities section is super stressful.

Good luck with the test!

Good luck! :luck: At least the AMCAS application will be a good distraction until your scores come out 😉

Same! I filled out the transcript section the day it opened, and since then I've been too nervous to add any activities :bag:

Do y'all think it's worth applying to mid-tier schools (rank ~25 and lower) as a higher stat applicant (LizzyM of 83, average ECs though). I'm poor atm and don't want to waste money. I have 10 top 20 schools and 6 state schools listed so far. Any school I have left to add I would only go to if I didn't get into any of the 16 already listed, and I'm well outside everyone's 90th percentiles.. Worth adding any more to be safe?

How are y'all holding up? Everyone says that applications are supposed to be the "fun" part but I have yet to feel excited... :hungover:

I'm barely holding on to my sanity. I've got my AMCAS application ready to hit submit on 6/1, but I won't get my MCAT scores back until 6/13. This all feels like a big game of "hurry up and wait." Now that my post-bac is done, MCAT is done, primary application is done... I'm kinda tempted to take some more classes, just to distract myself from the stress of applying to medical school.

I finally submitted my primary on Saturday!

How's everybody else doing?

Congrats on submitting your primary! I felt so relieved to have finally gotten it over with and off my plate/out of my mind!:banana::banana:

I'm just chugging along at my gap year job. While it's interesting (and nice because I've worked here for a while, so everything is familiar) and will be funding this application cycle, I'm also feeling a bit burned out from the entirety of college. I thought I would have more free time after graduating, but so far I've spent most of it writing my personal statement/activities descriptions 🙁. On the bright side, it's finally summer here and thank goodness I have air conditioning! How are you holding up?

Hope you heard some good news about your MCAT last week! 🙂

Wondering how many people actually stuck to being in the class of 2022 since 2014! I say that because in 2014 I thought I was going to be in the class of 2021, but we all know life (and unexpected gap years) happens..
Same! I was "supposed" to be class of 2021 but didn't get off any waitlists. Happy to report I've been accepted for the class of 2022!

This speaks to me on a spiritual level.

Downside: I cant make jokes about my SDN username and the application process anymore
When you can actually say "Yes, I'm going next year" in a confused tone it really keeps the convo going well
Congrats friend!!!

Thanks y'all. Congrats to you guys as well! Im irrationally superstitious about this app process so its nice not to have to yell at friends/family for jinxing me anymore

@flyboy3 Its amazing what going from 0 to 60 hrs of shadowing can do (that and not applying MD-PhD lol)

Does anyone have advice on how to politely prompt a school to offer some scholarship money? It’s still very early, but one school to which I’m accepted has offered me a scholarship already, and they’d like to know if I’ll be accepting it. But none of my other schools traditionally make scholarship offers until March-ish. I don’t know if I should call the other schools’ admissions offices for guidance, or if that would be too forward of me.

You can't rush financial aid or scholarship money. Each school has their own process.

Is this MD or DO? For MD - you have until April 30th to withdraw from any institution, so you can say yes now and back out later.
