Not that I took the MCAT or anything, this past August, but just because I feel like you all should have a thread like the one Crazy Cav had for us in April..........

DHAP converts into G3P via the Triose isomerase enzyme TIM. Now the 2 GAP go through the 3rd phase of the cycle to eventually lead to 2 net ATP and 2 pyruvates to enter the TCA CYCLE.

Hey, I learned this too! But in Cellular Physiology. I wonder if that could be considered as Biochemistry. We learned all about the Pentose Phosphate Pathway and stuff like that. We even learned the structures of carbohydrates and fatty acids. Although, there is a seperate Biochem. class at my school...

ummm..... ok, the truth is that once you make it to med school, looking back at undergrad is like looking back at elementary school when you were in highschool... ie, you needed to get through it to get there but it doesnt count for anything. i'm not saying that biochem is cake and that med school is a million times worst, its just a different type of hard. its just as hard as undergrad but the volume is just extremely intense, you really cant afford to slack off here. i tell the interviewees on tours of the campus that slacking in med school is when you start studying hardcore for an exam 10 days before. :laugh: but sadly true.

look doc, you'll survive biochem... and hopefully if you didnt kill the mcat you at least wounded it enough to get past it. then you can complain about anatomy and evidence based medicine searches like us med students. 😉

Im confused...is there some guy waiting to push the "enter" button on his laptop to upload the scores...or are they being uploaded as we speak....

If its the guy...its probably a set time...

If its uploading...it could be anytime...22 hrs or soish from now....

I bet its a lil bald guy laughing at me...sayin haha this idiot cant read (looking at my verbal score)


Ugh, I cant read about these health policies anymore!!!!

That was the first post on this thread...now we are at 20 and half hours or so..give or take 10 hrs🙂

the time is suuuuure going a lot slower now

you know its going to suck if they decide to bring out scores tommorrow in the daytime instead of today, my whole body is taking a toll, tests today, and as soon as i get out my night class 9:00 im heading to a comp lol.
Im definitely putting a piece of paper and going section by section to check my scores.

The day of doom is upon us. Judgement day! :scared:

I thought it was quite funny that Arsenic was referred to as "Arse." 😀 I think I needed that little bit of stress-relief from my frantic searching of the forums this morning in case something was up.

Not even the data guju told us about was up as of a few minutes ago. 😡 I'm heading to the mall today, but I hope to be back by five or six ish and we can do the chat thing. 😛

I had another MCAT nightmare last night!!! I had this dream that I received my scores in the mail first on this tiny piece of paper, and on the paper it said i got a 17! But it didnt give me the breakdown of my score, so i hurried to my computer and looked up my score, it said i got a 11PS, 10BS and 1VR, a ONE in verbal! and then i realized that those scores dont even add up to 17 anyway!?!?! I was gettin so frantic in my dream it was ridiculous...as you can imagine i didnt get much sleep from them on 🙁

I had similar dreams when scores were getting ready to come out in June. I got 11 pts higher then my dream told me I got.

THx says they'll be out on the 14th (tomorrow), but based on experiences from previous exams we're speculating that they'll be out at midnight tonight or maybe even a few hours earlier.

I sure hope the speculations are correct!!!

True true. If we really want to be technical........pyruvate can go through the fermentation cycles either by ethanol fermentation to give you all your much needed drinks after MCAT scores come out. :laugh: :laugh: :meanie:

Or it can go through the lactic acid cycle, as when you run too much during exercise.

Or if we are really getting technical, it is one of several compounds in the glycolytic pathway that will go through smaller pathways to form amino acids and other things.

Hope I'm not overloading your head, since you said you had a biochem test.

I actually put in the TCA cycle real randomly, forgetting you had a biochem test. I just thought of it when I read that tid bit about glucose above my post.

Nightmare....this is what happen to me in April. This is why wrote the August MCAT. PS 11, Bio 10 and 3 Verbal! 3!! No speaky da engrish!!!

I have an advanced orgo midterm tom and i cant study b/c my stomach is churning with anxiety. HELPPP! I've decided for my own benefit for tomorrow's midterm, not to check my score until AFTER my midterm (10:00 am). What do you think gujudoc? 😕

sounds like a plan to me. my roomie always waited until after a big exam before checking her grades (i realize that's different, but under the same general idea), and that always worked out better.

I have a big night planned for tomorrow. I got a babysitter lined up and my husband and I are taking a cab downtown and having some sushi and dirty martinis. I figure, good MCAT score or bad, I'm going to need a drink!

Here's hoping for 30+'s for all of us!

I just had my Advanced O chem exam on Monday--I will send you visions of the Mannich Reaction and retrosyntheses! Good luck. Don't check until after your exam--either way it will be all you will be able to think about once you know.

I wish I was busier today! Not having tests today or tomorrow is nice, but I have soooooooooo much time today when I'm just sitting around, waiting.

In other news, I just got back my results from the other day's abnormal psych test. It was the least I've cared about test results EVER, probably b/c I'm anticipating the mcat scores so much.
