Hey guys...found out today I was accepted EDP at Jefferson!!!! This is my second time applying....I am sooooooooooooo happy and relieved!
 
awesome man... can you tell them to send me an interview now?

btw, are you a delaware resident? just curious.

I called a certain school (sorry, not EVMS) two days ago and they said even though a decision had been made they cannot let anyone know until after OCtober 15th according to AAMC rules. Anyone know if this is true?

that's how it's supposed to be, but i guess some medical schools are bending the rules a bit. too bad none of those schools are ones i applied to...

When I called yesterday afternoon, they said the committee hadn't met yet... and my best bet was to call back middle of next week.... so calling this week may be futile.

No, i didn't. But i'm guessing probably monday so they can look at the people they interviewed this week too...

Thanks for the info. Perhaps my Tuesday call will be futile then? I definitely don't want to call twice in a week, so if I don't find out Tuesday looks like it'll be a continuing wait (even if others find out say on wed or something). A careful balance of timing this is.

I really don't consider this bending the rules because a verbal status update indicating an upcoming acceptance does not really constitute an official acceptance. Its not official until you get something in writing from the Dean. I think that they are just trying to be accomodating. We have no way of accepting an acceptance offer until October 15th, so I think that this is within the spirit of AMCAS rules. And thank goodness for it 🙂 It would be such a relief to find out next week.
 
although i have no vested interest in Oct 15, i am so excited for you guys! hope these next couple weeks fly by! 😎

I was off to such a great start with some interviews... then waiting.... and now I"ve started to get holds and rejections.

But all you need is one acceptance, right??
 
well i sure hope they know monday, because I also don't want to call too much too soon. But I've decided on monday and I'm sticking to it!
 
When you guys are all calling EVMS, could you ask them nicely to give Zimmie256 an interview? I would be most appreciative...

I'm pulling for you joabofarc. Just have to get through the weekend and we're there. You gonna call in the afternoon to give the committee a chance to meet? Or are you betting they meet at the end of this week?
 
no dice, they said they haven't had the meeting. I asked them when they might have the meeting, they said they didn't know. So, hang in there! No results for now! 🙂
 
dang since i interviewd late (22nd) i guess i won't hear until the 16th or so... good luck guys! EVMS is awesome.
 
Besides an acceptance offer on Oct 15th, do schools notify students around the same time whether you are waitlisted or rejected?

Ive seen so many accpetance threads, some waitlisted threads, but almost no rejection threads around that time from past years.
My guess is that rejected ppl get too depressed that they don't visit SDN no more... Hmm...

First of all, I doubt students with interviews this early would get rejected, but bet that a waitlist is much more likely. U of M, for example, said they'd be texting us if we get an acceptance at midnight on October 14th (the early possible time). I highly doubt they woudl send a text message then saying "you've been rejected." I'm sure that rejections/waitlists are usually sent in paper (it seems better that way).
 
for serious...i wish their adcom would freakin' meet already...I'm anxious since I might cancel many of my interviews based on the results there, but i guess wake is still up for the 6th since I'm not sure I'll hear anything by then 👎

I don't understand. I though October 15th was the first day. But your saying this week?

Is EVMS the only school that breaks the AAMC law?

Scroll up. It's all explained a few posts back. EVMS doesn't "break the law" but they are kind enough to give those of us who interviewed already our unofficial status over the phone. They said they would have results this week for people who interviewed three weeks ago or earlier.

Thanks, just curious (I didn't apply to EVMS). Do they call you or do you have to call them? Again, just VERY curious.
 
I'm wondering how the schools will notify. I know some places email, some call, some snail mail. And if they email or call, will they do it on Oct. 15, even though it's a Sunday? Or will they just wait until Monday? Any thoughts on this whole thing? I'm considering calling up the school and asking them myself, but I'm a bit nervous about it.

I'm scared to call too early or too late haha. I'm officically going to call as soon as I get to DC (around 1pm today) I volunteer at a clinic down there until 5, so I have to call before I start, and since the metro doesn't have any service for cingular I will call walking to the clinic (eek!). Crossing my fingers that the adcom met this morning and that they have good news for all of us SDNers!!:luck:
 
The committee on admissions has met and.......I GOT IN!!!!! Hope you all have as much luck, I'm so happy!!!

Edit: Just in case you guys were wondering I was interviewed on 9/15 ( I previously said the 13th, but that was because I was looking at the october calender and not september when I was typing oops!)

That is awesome Joan!!!!! A very hardy congratulations to you. I know that this must be a huge weight off your shoulders as you now know that you will definitely be going to medical school. 🙂

As for me, I called and was unfortunately informed that I have been placed on a wait list. 🙁 It is definitely way better than a rejection, but I had hoped so much to get in up front as this was my top choice (and probably my best chance too). I know that they have a lot of movement on the waitlist over time, but does anyone know how soon they may re-evaluate candidates on the list?
 
Wow, this is really making me anxious. I didn't apply to EVMS, so I still have to wait at least two weeks for my decisions.

A message of hope: A coworker was on the waitlist for EVMS until mid July and finally got a place in the class. Don't lose hope, they have tons of waitlist movement! And thanks to everyone for all the congratulations 🙂

2) Are you withdrawing all your other applications?

Answers:
1) I called the admissions office at 745-446-5812, and anyone who has been reviewed from the committee can find out
2) I'm not sure...some are definite like columbia and maryland, but I think I'm still going to go through with the wake forest and rosalind franklin interviews in case they surprise me...any other interviews I may get in the future, I don't have an answer for whether or not I will pursue those schools, but probably not the Philly schools

Sucks that I had to schedule an interview on the day of...I can just imagine how it'll be like, rushing home on the bus while it's getting dark out then getting home and opening the letter right when I get in my house. The suspense.🙂
 
Congratulations Joan! That's got to be quite a relief. Myself, I'm debating whether to call Tufts or not, but I'm not because I don't think they have made decisions yet. And if they did, and they do tell you over the phone, well, I'm afraid of getting bad news over the phone. Found out last year I was rejected from Albany over the phone, not much fun.

If it really is your top choice, right them an intent letter. Let them know you're interested. I can't see any school looking down on that. Good luck :luck: Can't help you about when they will re-evaluate, as they rejected me after I sent them my money for the secondary.

My primary was verified early and I am receiving secondaries right now. However, I retook the MCAT on June 14th and won't get a score until July 15th.
