no email response yet but looking at the acceptances from last year, it doesn't look good for penn state...first acceptance in mid-november (for a person who interviewed the third week of september), and the next one not until the beginning of december (for a person who interviewed in the beginning/mid of october).

i may cry if it takes that long.

edit: oh but there's one who interviewed 12/6 and was accepted 12/16...shady...

well that acceptance in december was also the last one listed. so it seems like the majority of people who were accepted didn't post that they were since there were only 3 or 4 total on the list. maybe there were lots of early acceptances that no one added! 👍

So just to clarify since I haven't had my second cup of coffee yet... It's Penn State that is saying 8 weeks after you interview, but we suspect it may be sooner because the committee meets more often and sends decisions by mail right after deciding, correct?

correct, but i think the more realistic interpretation is that we think it may be sooner only because we can't bear the thought of it being that long (see above suicide statements). 😛

Sort of, I think. My understanding is that Penn State is claiming to take 8 weeks, but it is Pitt is the one who sends decisions by mail right after deciding.

Haha, very good point. Thanks for the clarification. This feels just like waiting for MCAT scores... I'd believe any old TPR rumor or random phone callers... anything just cuz I wanted to get my score as soon as possible.
 
To the UPitt Interviewees:

I believe they told us that once all our application materials were received (which at this point consisted of getting the interview feedback from the medical student and faculty that interviewed us), our application would go before the committee the following week. At that point, a decision would be made on our application (Accept, Waitlist, or Reject).

Based on that information, I would think that anybody who interviewed before October 1st (assuming the interviewers turned in their feedback in a timely manner) would be able to find out shortly after October 15th what the committee decided.

Can anybody back this up?

I certainly hope so. I've got to think that early interviewers are usually a high proportion of good applicants (the deans at Baylor and U of Michigan confirmed this). So here's to hoping! Although, on the other hand, here's to hoping we won't need to care about a wait list! I'm waiting to hear from U of M, Baylor, MSU, and Wayne...
 
I called Tufts, they told me hopefully by the end of the month. So now I don't even know if it'll be Oct. 16 or not.

Seriously. The wait for Oct 15th (or, so help us, Nov 15th for the Texas schools!) wouldn't be nearly so bad if I were certain of hearing SOMETHING on the 15th or 16th. If they're going to reject me, I'd rather just get it over with. But they might mull the decision over until... March? April? Argh. Time to drink heavily.

I interviewed at upitt the second week of Sept. At the interview they told me I will hear something late Oct/ early Nov.

I was soooo bummed about my ETSU active hold this whole past week. But, I was surfing MDApps profiles, and came across someone in the same situation that explained they were accepted a couple weeks later only because the AAMC dictates that you can't notify applicants before 10/15. Holding out hope...
I'm actually calling tomorrow to ask if everyone interviewed thus far has either been rejected or put on hold.
UK had also told us they would tell us this week, but they then emailed me this afternoon saying they weren't aware of the 10/15 date, so they can't tell us till Monday morning. Bummer.
 
This wait is miserable. Wait, everything about preparing for and applying to medical school is. I hope October 15/16 is a wonderful day for all of us. I'm expecting three decisions.

Just adding to the agony-of-waiting posts...specifically UMass, myself.

I think that as time passes, my recollection of how my interviews went has been improving with time, to the point that at some point--and I think alcohol was involved--I decided both that I had a pretty good chance of getting accepted, and that I'll hear from them this month....and so now that cold wash of fear is sweeping over me of "but wait, didn't I think I babbled incoherently through the first interview?", and that October 15/16th will come and go without a peep....

Arrggg! Didn't I learn back with all the false "April MCAT scores will be released on ____" not to have hopes pinned on dates essentially pulled out of my (or the collective) arse? 😱

EEP!

(And on that note, only 10 days until the 15th!)
 
Does Pitt count academic record if you've had the interview invite (i.e. MCAT score could end up getting you eliminated)?
 
All this talk about Pitt has got me really worried tht I havn't gotten an interview invite from them yet. This whole process is really turning out to be a nightmare. Heck, I havne not even heard from 2 of my state schools yet. Someone pass the bourbon ...
 
Hey this is interesting. I just checked my VCU status online and one of the status buttons is no longer available (the one that I think said "File Status", where you could see when your letters arrived and such). I wonder if that means its being looked at now? The log on screen still says the usual "Application Status" and talk about the file being complete and all yadda yadda yadda. But it has said that for over a month. Ami remembering wrong or has anyone else experienced this?

Uh oh ... Pitt status has changed to indicate: "Correspondence was sent out: 10/5/2006".

I'm guessing not good because the the interview scheduling option has not been activeated. 🙁

yea, thats bad...everyone who received invites got them through email, not snail mail or "correspondence"

I'm in a similar position as you. I have a poor sub-score on the MCAT (6 on verbal). Let's cross our fingers and prey that Drexel will give us a chance! :luck:

If it was a top 25 school (tier 1) she was blatantly lying b/c students have no idea in their admissions process, as all acceptances at these schools are usually required to be approved by the Dean of Admissions...I think.

Well I don't know if this means anything... but in a recent email correspondence with UPitt they said they will be in touch with me again "very soon." Hopefully that means around Oct 15th.

was this the normal "App Status" page? I don't have this comment. I sent them a letter of interest/pleae-forgive-my-crappy past a couple weeks ago, so maybe they're putting off puttng me on hold temporarily??😕 God I hope so. I honestly would do just about anything to even get a shot at interviewing at Pitt. This lack of "corr sent" is the best thing that's happened to me so far in this admissions process. I'm gonna go vomit now. :luck: to all those awaiting this mysterious correspondance.

my RWJ interviewer told me i'd be hearing from them this week, and as i havent yet...i'm beginning to lose hope. guess i'd better start camping out in this thread too :scared:

My primary was verified early and I am receiving secondaries right now. However, I retook the MCAT on June 14th and won't get a score until July 15th.
