**Official interview invite/ rejection/ acceptance thread: 2010-2011 cycle**

It is my understanding from other posts that it means a eventual rejection🙁 Anyone please correct me if I am wrong

There was one person on this forum who got an invite shortly after receiving a similar status. He/She is buffalo's resident🙄

what are your stats like? i saw that you got an interview and a rejection on the same day. plus, same question as newmexomfs, are you washington resident?
 
Got a Temple Interview for October 28th. Sent me an email yesterday and I called today to set up the appointment. They only do the interviews on Tues, Wed and Thursdays.
 
Interview at The Ohio State notified October 11 by email. Interview date 10/30/10
Rejection from Indiana September 17 by email
Rejection from Case September 23 by AADSAS status update, then letter
Rejection from Nova October 5 by email

Stats: GPA 3.44, scGPA 3.02, DAT aa 20, PAT 23
 
Also got Michigan for november 19th.

im under continuing review at UB as well, but that's exactly what it is, you're borderline and they probably want to compare you with the other applicants to see where you stand... theres no definitive answer or rejection, just that you're probably not up to par with the ones who received interviews..
 
I got continuing review at Buffalo but an invite to Stony Brook. I'm OOS. Yeah, I'm confused too...

So for those with continuing review, don't sweat it.

It seems like 90% of the interviews these days is for people who already have mutiple interviews (3 and up ). I am starting to really loose hope now.

exactly what i'm thinking, i'm hoping after my fall grades it'll help...i dont want to retake the DAT since ik its prob my GPA holding me back 🙁

Not to sound like an arrogant person or anything like that (I am on continuing review at Buffalo too), but if predents is accurate me and Italianprincess are on par or if not better stats-wise than quite a few with an interview at buffalo AND we are NY residents. So I am confused as to why we are on continuing review since by the looks of stats we are on par with some of their interviewees and are supposed to be given preference as residents. /shrug No definitive answer is probably true who knows!

that is interesting...rickbhill, when did you receive the "continuing review" letter from USC? What date was the letter post stamped/dated? I haven't heard anything from that school since their "underview review" letter back in Aug/Sept.

I didn't have the letter in front of me so I was paraphrasing. It may not have used the phrase "continuing review" but it was something like: "we have your app and it will remain under review until our class is finalized in early August".

I've seen this same letter discussed on the USC thread. Somebody posted that they called USC and were told it's effectively an interview waitlist.

i know the answer... getting into dental school is kind of like playing the lottery because looking at your stats, i would expect you to get interviews pretty much anywhere u applied..
 
Another thing I find interesting (sorry if this is in the wrong thread) is regarding the OOS-in-state argument. Four of my interviews are with state schools in other states that supposedly only accept a small amount of out of state students. On the other side, of the 5 CA schools I applied to (I am a CA resident), I was rejected from one, am waitlisted for an interview at another and haven't heard from the other three.
 
hmm apart from the 3 interviews ive received i havent heard anything in a month 🙁 im trying to keep my international student morale up

I don't know if this was sarcasm or not lol...but ya I was basically trying to say that it may not be that someone is "not on par with a schools interviewees" as apparantly if you look around there are people here with 23s and 3.8s not getting interviews to their in state schools when OOS applicants are with 20s and 3.5s. Really you can never tell sometimes and it may be just luck on who reads your app and when and what they feel. Moreover, At least I feel better about the odds of getting into dental school than the actual lottery hmm! although a lottery ticket is like a dollar and dental apps were like 1k...

hey rickbhill (nice name!) I got this USC letter about "we have your app and it will remain under review until our class is finalized in early August" two days after I was invited for an interview, and I was in the first batch to get interviews at USC back in september...sooo I don't know how much about getting this letter means that your on an interview waitlist...because that would just make no sense why i received that letter.

That happened to me too... I received the "under review letter" like 3 weeks ago and days later I received an email with an "interview invite"... So, you might receive an interview invite soon!! Have you checked you email today????

3 interviews is AMAZING. What I would do for a BU/Tufts interview.
 
University of Washington interview invite. AADSAS Status Change to Invited for Interview on 10/8. UW schedules all interviews for Monday's and they gave me a choice of any monday in November. Scheduled for 11/1.

University of Detroit Mercy interview invite. AADSAS status Change to Invited for Interview on 10/12. UDM gave me a choice of T/W/Th starting as soon as next week. Scheduled for 10/26.

hey rick i got the same letter from SC.. i think that "above-par" theory is right.. so far i only got interview invites from top reach schools and not from schools like NYU and SC which seem like I have a really good chance at.
 
I am curious if school is still reviewing or sending out interview invites?
