I refuse to give a list of where I have interviews, because my single-digit number makes me feel inferior to everyone here. Nice work everyone. I really need to stop checking this list. I think I have 10 million ulcers - thus the ridiculous amounts of melena.

Got an invite from Vandy today 😀 ; and happily Dr. Promes has made a liar out of me. Despite what she told me at ACEP, I got an invite from Duke today. Just wanted to keep you guys updated. :luck:

I am. Was feeling ok about it considering my transcript still isn't up (everything else is) but after reading this thread and receiving my first rejection in the mail today (hershey) I am getting a little freaked :scared: A's on both EM electives and on my EM U/S elective. 3.5 GPA with 215/227 boards I was praying would get me some love but....
I think I will NOT look at this thread EVER AGAIN as it hurts too much to see everyone's success. Maybe I will do a search for a thread I remember reading about what you would do if you were not doing EM 🙁 Speaking of everyone's success. Don't listen to my jealous griping. Congratulations to all those who have been able to post pad like mad on this thread. 😡 😡 😡 😡 😉
 
Hey Drkp and others dont worry about the relative lack of love you are getting. In the end we will all get ours, I am sure 99%+ of people on this thread will match at one of their top. EM is a great field and one of the things that makes it great is cause while it is "competetive" they look at things besides your Step scores. Everyone will be fine! Good luck!!

I really don't think the intent is for anyone to feel bad. I think its a way to let people know who have already started offering, and who haven't. And really, that's all subjective too. I, for example, got a seemingly late interview from Nebraska. And virtually all my interview offers (except Wright State and Scott & White) came after I finally got my whole application in. -- Its like there was a "reviewed pile" and a "pending pile" and mine finally got moved to the reviewed pile once it got complete.

I don't mean to cause anyone ulcers or angst over the process -- I really thought it'd be more informative than anything else -- but if it is, I will gladly stop posting which offers have came.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree. This thread is to inform people as to which programs are offering interviews and there is no need to list and relist how many offers each of us has received. I understand that this has not been done with malicious intent 🙂 , but I can see how it would be anxiety-producing for some...

So why not just add new programs without listing offers each time? 😍

hey i just wanted to add that lists of places where ppl have gotten interviews really means VERY LITTLE. alot of ppl who are extremely competitive maybe applied to like 15 programs bc of geographical restrictions or whatever, and therefore only will interview at like 10 places, but still get one of their top choices. conversely, if you applied to like 45 places, you might have alot of interviews- bc you applied to a ton of places- but so what? there are alot of variables, so playing the 'my list is bigger than yours' game is really pointless.

in the end, as long as you interview at 5-10 places (and you don't suck at interviewing), i heard you should match somewhere and be FINE...in fact, most ppl get one of their top 3 choices. you can list for fun, but don't let other peeps list be anxiety-producing for you..sheesh! 😎

I hope this didn't open a huge bashing session, so let me be the first to apologize, because I was the one who started the "my list is bigger than yours" game. Please realize that when I was comparing my list to ectopic's list, it was totally in jest and completely for fun. That's the only reason I made that statement.

And also realize that I'm one of those people who applied an obscene amount of places, because I'm not from a school that has an EM program, and my dean advised me to look into another field, because EM is hard to match into (his exact words!). I was keeping track, because I was going to list interviews that I'm cancelling as well, but that won't be an issue anymore.

So, truthfully, I am truly sorry if it causes angst or anxiety. I have friends who are still waiting on interviews as well and I would hope it wouldn't cause them the same anxiety. Truthfully, for most, I think its an issue of a completed application.

has anyone heard anything for Chicago programs? (esp Northwestern, Christ of University of Chicago?) I'm grateful i've gotten interviews from a bunch of places but havent heard much from Chicago.
 
Just completed my app yesterday (3rd letter uploaded, only photo and dean's letter missing) and got my first 2 interviews today...

Hey, sorry my little comment started off a whole series of responses. I was just joking around. I don't think I have any ulcers, except for maybe a few decubitus ulcers from sitting around watching TV all day (I'm doing a "fun" elective). If I watch "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" one more time, I may have to consider a new hobby.

Anyway, I don't see a need to stop the lists of total interviews offered, since it can give people ideas on general geographic areas, types of programs you are applying to, etc. I'm sure we will all get some interviews, and I know it's on the early side. I was just trying a touch of self-depricating humor.

Keep the updates coming, everyone. And now to continue my q45minutes email checking...

Well....I am 1 of them....

And isn't it funny how those who have a laundry list of interviews already say things like "it's not even november yet....don't worry....everything will work out just fine....praise the lord....you'll get PLENTY of interviews....etc"

Just an observation....

well...don't mean to sound bitter, but dudes....I haven't gotten s**t yet and I AM GETTIN' WORRIED (ok...so I admitted it :laugh: :laugh: , but I think I have the right to be worried....wouldn't you???) I REALLY REALLY hope you guys are right about the november thing and praising the lord :laugh: :laugh:

Wow so CS_22 and I got some people annoyed. Well since CS offered up some "personal" stuff so will I. I am a relatively competetive applicant but due to family curcumstances I had to apply to an inordinate amount of programs. I def was not trying to play a game of one-upsmanship or trying to create stress in anyones life. Ill keep adding the places of where I get interviews but ill let you guys decide if the lists are still cool or not. I didnt get a Duke offer... but maybe ill get one in round 2 🙂
 
I took the original posting to be a joke ie. not to be taken seriously. who cares if you list or not. I think it is nice to see where interviews are happening multiple places and not search through seven pages of threads to see if the one place you are wanting offered someone an interview.

I have to admitt that cs and ectopics list were making me jealous, but I am really happy to see there most recent posts. These 2 people are obvioulsy very qualified, and very down to earth to not get annoyed at the rest of our jealousy. We have to remember that the purpose of this thread was to see what was out there, and they are doing that for us. If this means that some of us have to swallow our pride because others are getting more interviews than us, then so be it. Remember there are a lot more than 2 positions available, and eventually all of us will hopefully get interviews also.

I have not posted my interviews as of yet, but guess I will. As my name implies, I am a caribbean U.S. student, so my list is not as big as the others!

I think Rossguy is ABSOLUTELY right...and I apologize if I came off as a ja***ss earlier....I guess those guys DO have awesome things in their applications that make them get these interviews, and I don't think we should criticize them for all that they have accomplished....True, I have NOT had any interviews yet...true, I HAVE to swallow my pride and accept that...True, interview season is still early...BUT, gettin' my panties in a bunch is not gonna get me more interviews...(hmmm...maybe if I send the PDs a picture of me IN panties may just do the trick 🙄 🙄...ah hell...who am I kiddin'...it'll get me rejected SO fast I won't even know what hit me)...Anyway, Rossguy is right and I can officially say that I have been acting like a Fatty McFattyPants (sorry....couldn't resist)

Just using it as an example.. cause some people on here did.. and well i didnt.. at least not yet. As I mentioned I applied to a ridiculous # of places due to some personal stuff. Anyways now that the air is clear... I will post for today.. First I almost uhh creamed myself today.. I got an email from Emory which I thought was an invite (they are likely my #1, at least for now but the old personal situation could change that at any moment) but it was just an acknowledgement of receipt. Kinda weird to send that out this late IMO but it was well appreciated I guess 😉

But seriously everyone, please relax a bit. I am about as anal a person as there is out of all of us I can assure you. My stats are quite good, and I have applied to more than 40 programs nationwide with very few invites as of now. And being the anal dingbat that I am, I have talked with several program directors at places I am most interested in and they have been kind in telling me that they are not even close to sending out invites yet. Some told me that they issued a handful of invites early for people who either rotated there or for their own students. But bottom line, after the first week of November the majority of invites are going to go out. That is when I intend to keep the interviews I really want and then decline the ones I don't really want. Like a lot of you, I cast a large net out initially but I don't plan to interview at 40 programs. I figure half will invite me and I will then choose half of those to interview at. So relax guys!!

Third. I really do congratulate everyone who has posted lists and I don't want you to stop. It is helpful even if only in that this time in December it might finally convince me to start applying to some non EM programs. The only person I really have a gripe about are all those PD's who haven't realized my many many virtues 😀

Emory sent me the "thanks for comin' out" email today as well. Its definately NOT too late for that kind of thing. Deans letters and transcripts are still outstanding. Its very early. I predict a massive growth in this thread about Nov 2-15th.

I spoke with our residency director here at Wake Forest today and he said they had made a few offers but were pretty much waiting until things were complete Nov. 1st. He also mentioned that alot of students still did not have their part of the application complete. So if you haven't done so already its time to have all those LOR's uploaded.

I didn't apply to any Louisiana schools... are they still there? j/k.

So corpsmanUP, you're planning to interview at 20 schools? wow. I don't think i've got the gas money for that 😉

I plan to only interview at half of the 20 I expect to get invites from. I applied to an appalling 40 programs because I am an uptight whiney little dingbat MCFattypants!!

I too got the Emory letter this week, which I was about as dissapointed about as my letter from Indy last week saying basically the same thing.

Yes, Louisiana programs are still there except for the New Orleans programs for now. Charity will be back soon though I would bet as people filter back in.

Hey, does anyone have any idea how to keep a suit from wrinkling in a freaking carryon?

Lastly, DrKP, you had me rolling with your last post. No need to apologize. This is an entirely stressful time. I came in to my ICU rotation about 30 minutes prior to rounds with barely enough time to see my patients. I told my upper level that I was not sleeping much and didn't hear my alarm. She said she felt like fall of 4th year was more stressful than the entire intern year! No wonder attendings and upper levels just sort of ignore 4th years and allow them to roam at will.


Hey, anyone know if we can trade interviews (LOL)? I have some I don't care much about while I want some of you guys' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a meeting with our residency director. He is only now just starting to decide who to offer invitations to... Probably won't send out invites for another week or two.


Doubt it will make anyone feel better but there you go.

I guess that people are getting worried, and I would second (or third etc) what was written above. Lots of programs aren't giving interviews until full apps are done etc. I spoke w/a Cincinnati grad who is now a senior at the Carolina's who said that they don't even start to send invites until later in the season and not to get stressed. He usually reads some and this year he hasn't even started 🙂 I also (hopefully not to sound cocky) have a stronger app w/ a lot of experience, grades etc from a strong home program. So that may make a difference as well. I sincerely hope the best for all!

...like mentioned above, I wouldn't stress too much about the lack of interviews. I have these already cuz i applied to a TON of programs. once your app is complete you should be set. I know people who still haven't completed their app yet so you're not alone.
 
someone mentioned that some programs are still looking at transcripts...

does that mean that the programs are "examining" my transcripts even though they have already downloaded it, or does that mean that they are still waiting for them to be UPLOADED...

reason why I ask is because my transcriipt has been downloaded by programs for quite some time now...

just wondering if someone could elaborate on this
 
Ditto Peoria UI as well today. Anyone else get this email that said to call any time between 8-4 daily, and then try to call only to get the voice mail of the coordinator saying she will be gone until the 27th of October? Talk about timing!!
