Hey there everyone! Figured I'd start this thread since I recently started preparing for the June 18th MCAT. For those of you who are taking the June 2nd MCAT, June 18th MCAT, or still considering one of those two dates, feel free to post here with any questions, comments, concerns, or support you have to offer!

Good luck to you all! Let's crush it.

ok reading the scores on here sure can make you feel bad... congrats to everyone though!!

508, MD applicant, 3.66 gpa at Miami OH

128/127/128/125

should i consider retaking? as the equivalent of a 30, it seems to be below most schools' averages which is what concerns me.. definitely disappointed but not sure if it'll still be enough to get in

506. Not unhappy with this score as its right on par with the state schools I'm applying to!!! Little bummed out about my CARS score which was 124...but like bruh come on.

Scrubs that score is fine for MD as well...you got like a 29 on the old one and so did I. you'll be fine...then again I live in Louisiana so their expectations are lower.

505...really not sure how I feel about it. 3.7 cum GPA in Mech Engineering, prior MCAT was a 504, 2nd time applying. I have all the other extracurriculars (volunteer, research)...here goes more agonizing waiting as I submit secondaries...

516!!!! Highest I got was a 507 on the scored practice! SO HAPPY!!

What was your scored breakdown on AAMC Scored 1?? Congrats!!

512 (127/128/129/128) 88th percentile!! My AAMC Official FL score was 506. I graduated two years ago and I had rushed to take the old MCAT exam, barely studied and got a 22 (32nd percentile) so I am very happy with this score!

For my AAMC FL my section scores were: 126/126/127/127

Congrats!! I also got a 506 on scored FL 1. I felt like I did okay in C/P, and couldn't tell how I would do in B/B, CARS, or P/S. Did you feel similar?

What was your scored FL 1 breakdown?

Congrats guys!

I'm devastated, 4 points below my scored FL....

505
128/124/127/126

Scored FL was 126/126/128/129
So confused....

That's still a great score! I'm sorry you got below the scored fl, but just remember luck has a lot to do with this test too. 505 is good enough... Don't let sdn fool you.

Don't retake. I'm also in Ohio and I think your mcat and GPA are both solid especially for our state schools. Great job!

You're good for DO, even with your GPA IMO. Sucks that you underperformed, but I think I'll be in your shoes in 2 weeks so I understand lol.

There you are! That's solid for DO!

Psych/soc is such a wildcard. Man. That's still a good enough score for all DO and in-state/selective MD schools.

Thank y'all for the support, u the real MVPs [emoji106]

I was super surprised by psych/soc. I honestly thought I was looking at 130+. CARS was expected to be low but I was hoping for at least 125.

With a 3.25cGPA 3.4sGPA 505, do y'all think this cycle is worth a shot? Or should I do more GPA repair/retake the MCAT. I honestly was so shocked when I scored below my scored FL, thought I felt better on the real thing than I did on the scored...

I scored below my Kaplan score as well the first time around. I'm seriously hoping I don't have bad luck this time around since I've studied more too. Anyway, I think you have a great shot at DO. Depending on what state you're in (hopefully not Cali) then you could have a pretty good shot at MD too. Upward trend helps so if you have that then even better. If money isn't a huge issue then I'd just apply everywhere you think you have a slight chance at. As a reapplicant this year, I wish I had signed up to retake courses to bring my gpa up for DO schools so that by now my gpa would be fixed (retaking only 2 courses would have shot my gpa up by .3 points!!). So you could just sign up and start a class just in case this cycle doesn't turn out great, but I highly doubt you'll need to reapply. I'm in Cali (unfortunately) and the DO schools here have admissions who have told me that they don't look down on reapplicants; they actually see it as dedication. Not sure if any of that helps but I thought I'd share. Good luck🙂

It's worth applying for sure. If you have to reapply, your application will be stronger next year (since you're on sdn and will continue to do extracurriculars etc) and you'll be able to get feedback from schools you're rejected from on what to improve. I know so many people who have gotten in as reapplicants- as long as you don't reapply with the exact same application then you'll be fine reapplying if you don't have success.

I got a 509. 127/127/125/130

Not sure what happened with CARS. I got 93% on the unscored AAMC FL and 130 on the scored, and I have an English degree. Really thought I'd hit at least a 128 on that section. *shrug*

I would ideally liked to have hit 510 or higher, but studying for that test was one of the most miserable life experiences I've ever had. Think I'm gonna run with it unless anyone thinks doing so would be a mistake. My GPA is 3.96, and I'm half Puerto Rican, so I *think* I count as URM.

You should be good. I've heard some admissions officers don't like it if you score low in the bio section but your overall score is strong!

What was your scored breakdown on AAMC Scored 1?? Congrats!!

Congrats!! I also got a 506 on scored FL 1. I felt like I did okay in C/P, and couldn't tell how I would do in B/B, CARS, or P/S. Did you feel similar?

What was your scored FL 1 breakdown?
scored FL I got (126/126/127/128) 507 taken two weeks before the exam
unscored FL I got (59%, 91%, 80%, and 75%) taken one month before the exam
actual exam (129/127/130/130) 516
absolutely shocked because I was the most confident in CARS and thought I bombed chem/phys lol

How'd you feel about bio and psych?

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile
Bio I felt was a lot of interpretation of the passage and less outside knowledge, I felt I did alright on it though
Psych I thought was very straightforward I either knew it or I didn't
When I predicted my scores I was thinking
125/130/126/126
so needless to say things are definitely not always as they seem
In terms of difficulty I thought it was like
P/C>Bio>Psych>CARS

were there a lot of calculations required for c/p

I think you are fine for DO. It will be hard for MD though.

I'm gonna apply just DO, so that's good to hear!

I also scored below one of my Kaplans

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I was under the impression the deflation was huge from Kaplan. Either they significantly changed their scales or just some sort of bad luck [emoji28]

I think you're fine! That's a 29 on the old mcat, and the average MCAT for DO schools is a 27. No doubt you will get some love this cycle.

Thanks bud! I hope so, I think I was just banking wayyyyy too hard on actually doing better than my scored and didn't give much consideration (besides the occasional nightmare) to what to do if I did worse.

Thank you very much! That's really reassuring, I'm applying strictly DO and my state does have a state DO school so I'm lucky there. I have a good upward trend (around 3.9 past 40 credits). I will be applying broadly for sure! Just got ahead of myself and tailored a list for my AAMC scored haha guess I've gotta get back to the drawing board! Glad to hear that about reapplication though, as making a plan just incase for next year would be wise for me now.

It's worth applying for sure. Awesome! Yeah I'm definitely preparing for that just incase, the stigma against reapplication on here is scary. But I fully plan on significantly improving my app with in the next year, GPA, ECs, and maybe even retaking the MCAT if I can get myself to go through this again. I know I can do better. But thank you very much!

You guys have all been so helpful these past couple months, I hope we all stay in touch on here and see how the cycle pans out for everyone next year! Best of luck fam.

MCAT: 516 (C/P 128, CARS 129, B 130, P/S 129)

Practice test scores in the order I did them:
TPR1 504 (C/P 124, CARS 126, B 127 , P/S 127)
TPR3 505 (C/P 125, CARS 128, B 127, P/S 125)
TPR4 505 (C/P 125, CARS 126, B 127, P/S 127)
AAMC Sample Test (C/P 71%, CARS 89%, B 83%, P/S 80%) - 1 week before test
AAMC Scored 516 (C/P 127, CARS 131, B 129, P/S 129) - 3 days before test

Thoughts on what worked for me:
Content review AFTER taking practice tests based on what I got wrong (For C/P and B sections).
All AAMC materials are the best practice. I felt like I hit a wall until I did enough practice questions and started seeing patterns/got some intuition.
Also, I practiced pacing - any question I felt was confusing or would take a while to calculate - I guessed, marked it, and went back at the end of the section.

Thoughts on actual MCAT:
I would say reading comprehension on just the passage info/tables/graphs of the psych section was a large chunk of the questions. My undergrad biostats class really helped here. All I did for content was read the TPR review book carefully once, and memorize a couple lists for the Psych theories and components.

In order of how I felt leaving the test in terms of difficulty: B > C/P > P/S & CARS equal

Totally agree. I was shocked and a bit rattled by how much of it was just interpreting enzymatic pathways with confusing names and how little of it was actual knowledge

Long time lurker that got a lot of useful information from this site - figured I'd finally give back!

MCAT#1: 26 (PS 7, V 11, B 8)
MCAT #2 : 499 (C/P 124, CARS 126, B 122, P/S 127)

New MCAT #3: 516 (C/P 128, CARS 129, B 130, P/S 129), Yay!

Congrats on the new score! What a great improvement. But I wonder what adcoms will think when they see a drop between the first and second scores. However, you scored significantly better the third time around so I don't think it will be a problem. It is interesting to know how your scores are viewed though.

I think they may be more understanding since it's a totally new test. At least I hope they would be!

@born2run they were literally 499s, I don't know why I didn't void my exam. I felt like I did great on CARS so it gave me confidence but really it was my worst score.

The breakdown is CP 126, CARS 122, BB 124, and PS 127

Underrepresented applicant

Overall score on MCAT: 516

PS- 127
CARS- 127
BB- 132
PS-130

I am happy about my score, but worried about the imbalance. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't worry if I were you. You killed the sciences and did well in the other two. You're good to go in my humble opinion. Congratulations!
