Haven't seen a thread for this date created yet. So let the fun begin!
I second this. I looked up one P/S question that I got wrong because of a stupid mistake where I totally blanked, even though I had studied the material and should've gotten it right. It's haunting me now, so I haven't looked up anything else hahaOk, I'd just like to add a suggestion here to *not* look up questions you remember. So far the P/S questions I've looked up.. I got them all wrong. And it's just not helpful. Just don't do it.

Everyone made a stupid mistake or two or three somewhere, that's where the scale comes in. Maybe you missed the questions that aren't scored. Trust the process we will all come out okay.I second this. Is it normal for CARS passages to be longer than practices exams, I always finished reading a passage in 4min on the practice exams but on this exam it took me around 6min to completely read the passage. If I have to retake, what do you guys think I should do to better my timing, I feel like it's impossible to read a passage in <4min and comprehend it
AGREED!! Trying to find all the distractions I can. GS and cavs really do a good jobSo how bout that NBA finals game...
*trying not to think about how long these 2 weeks are gonna be....

I sent my transcripts in way before submitting, so I literally submitted on the 5th and was verified the same day...I was pretty surprised myself!I alternate between going crazy and being oddly peaceful about it. If I don't get in anywhere this year, I don't think my MCAT will be to blame. If it's lower than I'd like, I'll just apply to more lower tier schools. So I think that way.. and then I think about June 20 actually coming and my heart rate skyrockets, so..
@fldoctorgirl, I'm impressed you got verified 6/5!! I just submitted on the 7th, and they haven't gotten one of my transcripts yet. But I'm zen about it. Really. Also, do you want to trade GPAs? I don't think my 3.5x is going to impress many adcoms..
So... I just got my May 13th MCAT score. 510 (130, 127, 125, 128). Not very impressed with my B/B section, but like I said I thought it was pretty killer. If you look back in the forum you can see how my score compares to my practice exams and my thoughts after taking. Pretty excited at my performance versus practice scores. Any idea how this score will impact my competitiveness for med school (allopathic)? Should I plan to retake, or move forward?
@WhyNotUs I wouldn't retake. It's important to keep in mind that forums like SDN and Reddit are usually home to people who score far above average, and often this makes people with really good scores (ex: your 510) think it's not good enough. A 510 is great. As long as everything else is in order (GPA, extracurriculars, you don't suck at interviewing) you should definitely be fine getting into med school, both MD and DO.
A 510 is 82nd percentile. That means only around 18% of all test takers did better than you. I would definitely avoid a retake, especially considering that you managed to do that well after scoring ~ 500 on practice FLs. If you go back in and score lower, it'll make your 510 look not as nice as it does now.
Not necessarily; honestly, this statement depends too much on other factors about an applicant, so it's hard to give direct advice without full details.I think it depends where the applicant is from and how far they are willing to move. For example, if you are from New York and are looking to stay in New York, you would need to retake a 510.
Could someone explain to me the "curve" of the exam? I know it's not a real curve but I've seen people say some questions get more points than others or some get thrown out and I just want to know. Thanks!!Everyone made a stupid mistake or two or three somewhere, that's where the scale comes in. Maybe you missed the questions that aren't scored. Trust the process we will all come out okay.
Honestly it's pretty hard to explain as the AAMC is not the clearest about the scale.Could someone explain to me the "curve" of the exam? I know it's not a real curve but I've seen people say some questions get more points than others or some get thrown out and I just want to know. Thanks!!
I think those are nightmaresThere are kind of "throw out" questions that the AAMC is testing out. Experimental questions. But there's no way of knowing if your test has them or which ones they are. Just another fun aspect of everyone's favorite test!
My brain thinks it's super funny. I keep having a dream where I'm checking my score, and right when I click on the link to see it, I wake up. Hilarious.
ONE more day, people! it's getting real
I've maybe been checking the score page today just in case they accidentally posted it early. Maybe I should write some secondaries instead.. hmm
The part of me that has been dying to know for the last month is slowly being shadowed by the part of me that wants to remain blissfully ignorant forever...ahh..
