37Q

BS 12
PS 13
V 12

-practice scores - 27-39 (from first PR diag to AAMC 9)
-my last few scores (AAMC 7,8,9) were 33, 35, 39
-used TPR class + examkrackers books on my own
-i'm pretty happy; on one hand, i've heard of miracles where people have gotten a higher score than their highest practice score....on the other hand, i think it's pretty amazing that i did as well as i did what with my busy summer & lack of taking all my prereqs before taking this beast. Plus, I thought I did worst on PS and thought that my essays were utter crap (where did that Q come from?! quite happy about that). seriously, i didn't break 30 until a little more than a month before the MCAT (mostly since i was working too many hours to really study before then)...so getting this score is such a relief for me. PLUS, i'm mostly overjoyed because i don't even have to consider retaking which means the possibility of actually enjoying my last semester of undergrad.

41S, good undergrad GPA, impressive sounding resume...
But...6 years out of college, married with a baby, lots of responsibilities...
So probably won't apply.
Back to teaching middle school science!

Apply! If she wants to stay at home with baby, wait a year, but definitely apply. There are ways to work it out. Besides, even as a resident, you will make equal or greater salary than you make as a teacher.

32N

Verbal 6 (ouch)
Phys Sci 13
Bio Sci 13
Writing N

On top of this, I'm an international student but spent my four years of college within the U.S. with a 3.8 GPA. So we'll see how this flies ... I'm applying right now as well.

1. Your Form (If you remember): AH (I think ... or was it AG?)

2. Your Practice Score Range: 29 - 30

3. What you used to Study:
Mostly Exam Krackers (101 Verbal Passages, 16 Mini MCATs, and their simulated diag tests) and AAMC tests (3R - 9). Other stuff were one Princeton Review workbook, one Kaplan workbook, and my old workbooks from Princeton from when I first took the MCAT (those were more for like notes). Basically what I did was repeated the questions I got wrong over and over again until I completely understood what I was doing wrong. Kinda took away my sleep because random problems would start popping up into my head and then I'd have to check over them before bed. 😛

4. How do you feel right now?
Absolutely ecstatic that my score didn't go down. Just getting ready to check that score was a total roller coaster ride.
But a bit disappointed in my verbal score because I was periodically getting 9's most of the time .... which would have been helpful on the real thing, but o well. I seriously have no clue how I got a 13 on Phys Sci hahahaha because I freaked out for the first two or three minutes when starting the test. Maybe I should've freaked out during verbal too.

My first MCAT score (which I took in August 2004) was a 29N (P 11, V 7, B 11). How ironic my writing just stays the way it is eh and my sciences like to score similarly all the time.

34O. V10, B12, P12.

1. Form EM

2. 27-33

3. EXAMKRACKERS EXAMKRACKERS EXAMKRACKERS!!!! Audio and 1001 workbooks. Oh, and ALL the official practice tests.

4. Absolutely ecstatic!

I made a 28M (V10, B9, P9) on my April test so, guys, it is possible to increase your score a lot! I thought I did really bad on verbal and wasn't expecting that 10!

Congrats to everyone who did well or better than they expected, and to those that didn't, don't sweat it! You have time to improve. I'm living proof of that!

Oh happy day. I'm not going to kill myself anymore!! 😀

Holy jesus these scores are scaring me, but congrats to all of you over achievers! 🙂

33N

BS 12
PS 10
VR 11

I've been out of school for a few years and work full-time so I studied independently using Kaplan and EK. Most of the time was spent on refresh/catch up. I am pretty content with my numerical score, but am concerned about my writing sample. I heard the WS was unimportant so I didn't focus on it at all, hence my sub par score. Do you think it's worth retaking? My GPA was 3.96. (BTW- During the test, I thought I bombed BS and did pretty good on PS. Why is this the craziest/most confusing test ever?!)

Any insight would be appreciated!

I think you have a solid application with a 33 and a 3.96. Not everyone can ace the exam. 😀

Most will see that not everyone will post their scores on here which makes its seem like most SDNers have "all high scores". I am sure there are a few disappointed people out there because the average score is far from the 30+ scores we're seeing on here. But the MCAT isn't the end all its the whole package. I wish everyone well!

Gujudoc--regardless of your score I would like to offer my congratulations for completing the exam!! I know what you are going through with the verbal section but you are deserving of medical school. You seem like a kind, sweet and compassionate person from your posts and you deserve better!! Best of luck:luck: and congratulations.

awww oh and 😍 for representing Gandhi with that quote. My other fav gandhi post was his "Be the change you want to see in the world" quote

TPR had that on his facebook for the longest time and I just love reading it cuz its really a wise and true statement.

I posted my score because I don't believe there's any reason for me to act like I'm jealous of the rest of my SDN peers. I mean we all went through this together and I do believe I could get into a DO school and possibly an MD school with some luck after talking with some people at USF diversity initiatives and academic enrichment office and also based on what I've seen with past applicants who I've known to get in even despite a 6 in Verbal.

Oh Guju! You've been so kind and supportive of everyone on here throughout the last few agonizing months pre and post-MCAT. I really hope your dreams come true this cycle! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I think I am going to puke. I don't think I can sit through biochem if I see bad scores😱

So,
13 BS
13 PS
10 V

Total 36R. Would have liked an 11 in verbal but otherwise very pleased to have the scores back for my first and last MCAT.

Practice Range:
Kaplan diag 26 (i was scared at this point...)
Kaplan Practice 1: 33
Practice 2-5: 33-36
AAMC 9: 37
AAMC 8: 38
AAMC 3: BS 14, PS 14... did not do verbal

Combining my best scores from practice tests would be 14BS, 14PS, 12 verbal. I figure that a 36 combined with a solid stanford gpa will be good as far as getting into my target schools. It probably also doesn't hurt that I'm an NCAA athlete--they usually expect us to be borderline idiots. We shall see.... The kaplan course was great. It's a good way to guide your studying and I would recommend it for those who need something more than just self-motivation.

ooo man so i finally checked for myself! Not too great, BUT, given the fact that I didnt sleep for two days and took simply sleep and still didnt sleep and was out of it, I do say I am somewhat proud. Like my mom said, when you are a doctor you will be out of your mind and no sleep, and sick, etc, and you are able to pull something good out of your A@@.
k enough of my scores🙂 PS 8!! yukk yuk. I guess skipping a passage didnt help, and I was in the mind frame that I was going to void during physics bc I was so out of it, though a friend there from Kaplan made me stay in that test center. She would not let me leave. So I tried to focus more and snap out of it for VR and BS bc those were always my two best.
Anywayyyyssss. I may still retake bc my practices were all wayyy higher, but I think it's good enough to get me in.
Congrats everyone!
oh and I got an N on the writing whatever that means and I never really practiced it and didn't care.

PS-14, VR-9, BS-9, N (32N)

1. Your Form (If you remember): AG

2. Your Practice Score Range: . ~27-33 (although I only scored 33 once and the rest were 30 or lower)

3. What you used to Study: Examkrackers

4. How do you feel right now?

ecstatic. the 9 in BS was the lowest I've ever gotten on any practice tests however, so I would have been even more pumped up with a 14/9/10 🙂

I only had 2 weeks to prepare for the MCAT and took as many physical and biological science practice tests as I could in my limited spare time. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to take any verbal reasoning or practice essays - so I took those cold. Also I've only had the first semester of O.Chem, so I knew Biological Science was going to be pretty tough.

However, I'm really pleased with the outcome, considering my highest practice score on PS was a 9, and on BS was an 8:

PS: 12
BS: 9
VR: 10
Essay: Q

Test series 32

Good luck to you all on your med school applications & interviews ! 😳

I thought the scores were coming out tomorrow.

I got a 37R 🙂

BS 11 (not too happy about that since this is my area)
VR 13
PS 13
WS R

Took Kaplan and AAMC practice tests and never scored over 34 on any practice test. Also got no sleep the night before the exam. I guess I am ready for residency🙂

Guys need help

1st time:

VR: 9
PS: 10
BS: 11
WS: M

2nd time (August) taking and GOT

VR: 9
PS: 10
BS: 11
WS : L 😕

I wanted to know if i should retake or submit a remarking request for my writing section.

I have a 3.87 GPA and am a Canadian student looking to apply to Canadian and US schools;

ANy help appreciated

Hi I'm a newbie here, but congrats to all who scored so high. I practiced in the high 20's but scored on the low end 🙁 So disappointed because I studied so hard and still wasted a year. But I guess true survivor are those who keep on going right?? hehe. But I have a quick question hopefully someone can help. For those who score so high, what did you use as your practice materials?

Thanks

UMP: Congrats! And your improvement will really impress the admissions folks!

stiffany: Yay! Great improvement in all your scores, finishing on a high rocks!

solitude: Poo, you beat my writing sample! That makes us even.. next time! OH wait, there is no next time, hahaha HELL YES!!! 🙂

xylem29: Higher than your highest practice, awesome!

Kikaku21: Nice writing score, and you should be thrilled!

wleet: Nice score yourself!! (for some reason I only saw your post in other people's quotes and couldn't find the original one..?)

Okay, sorry if I missed anyone.. I just wanted to reply to people who responded to my post and also people I recognized from frantic August studying.

Congratulations though to ALL of you who were happy with your scores or even those of you who got great scores and weren't happy (like dogmod, wow! except I think you are happy hehehe  )

Will make more posts later. Study study study now...

PS. While I was doing the MCAT I made a private MCAT blog... is there any interest in others seeing it? Maybe I'll post it in some other thread

oh god, the mcat memories - i'd love to see your mcat blog, kinda nerdy of me.

Oh, and I made good on my promise - I am now an official donor! aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I noticed quite a few of you are also retakers (like me)... On my AMCAS I noted I would NOT take the August exam, but once I decided to I notified all the schools and they said they would hold review until those scores came out. Do I have to do anything to make sure that they all get my August scores?

Thanks guys... and Congrats to all you super freaks!!

Ok well I didn't get in the 30's like everyone else here but I made a great improvement. In April I got a 22N and now in my August scores I got a 28 O. So excited. I have talked to the dean of admissions at my top choice and he said if i got 9,9,9 for a 27 i would have a good chance. well i got
PS - 8
VR - 10
BS - 10
I am so excited. Good job all. I am so happy it is over. I hope I get accepted this time around because I do not want to do that again.

congrats bb🙂 Ya I know what you mean, the average for the school I want to go to is 29 so I guess I should be happy🙂

Is there anyone who hasn't checked their score? I can't seem to do it, knowing it will ruin my weekend. I got an S in the writing, though. That's all I could handle looking at.

If I may ask, where are the two of you so excited to be next year?

Congrats on acheiving your goals and good luck with the rest of the process.

Thanks

I took the MCAT in August 2002 with a 26M, and have been out of school the past three years.

Your Practice Score Range: 20-30 (30 from AAMC 9)

What you used to Study: Self study TPR, textbooks, and cheesy EK Audio Tapes

How do you feel right now?

Not ecstatic, but satisfied. I'll have a good chance at DO schools and maybe public schools in my state (Florida). At least it didn't go down!

Congrats to all! 🙂 😛 😳 😉 🙄

I want to go to Creighton or University of South Dakota. I am from the Midwest and want to stay here. Both of their average MCAT's are about right at 29. I have lot of extracurriculars. I play college basketball. I am Business manager of our student government. Treasurer of our Bio/chem club. And I have a 3.85 GPA. I hope I can get into Creighton. I really like it there and a real good friend of mine is in PT school there and loves it.

26 P. Not impressed
my form was :FK
am so confused as to whether i should retake/not
congrats everyone!!!

Form FL

11/11/9(BS) and an R

31 R.....

The things I would do for a 32 R 10 B.S.

Canadian applicant... strict section cut offs.

Congrats to all of you with amazing scores, and to those of you who didn't score what they hoped for congrats on surviving it, iknow how hard it is.

I'll share my scores to incourage those with less than 30 to come out of the woodwork. I know its intimidating posting in the same thread as someone who got a 41 🙂 (congrats by the way that is an amazing accomplishment!)

My scores were 4 points lower than my last practice tset (9)

26Q
7P
10V
9B

I predicted getting a 12 in verbal since I was consistantly strong in practice tests and felt good after the test about it. But I guess the physical which sucked the life out of me threw me off. I meet the cutoffs for my two provincial schools so I will get interviews, but I am slightly below the average admitted mcat (27-28)...I got a chance but my mcat will hurt my application. All in all I will start studying for rewrite when i get the rejection letters in march 😉

Is there anyone who hasn't checked their score? I can't seem to do it, knowing it will ruin my weekend. I got an S in the writing, though. That's all I could handle looking at.

i didnt check my scores before i had a few beers, made it easier, but haha more emotional afterwards.

Thanks for the advice! I was just a little unsure about the N, but what the hell. . . I will just try to rock the essays.

PS-12, VR-6 (!!!), BS-11, M (29M)

1. Your Form (If you remember): FG (i think)

2. Your Practice Score Range: 19-27

3. What you used to Study: Princeton Review

4. How do you feel right now?
Surprised at how low my verbal and writing score was, but relieved over the PS and BS since i thought the biology was ridiculous. I'm happy though knowing that my sciences are solid, and it only takes practice to improve my verbal = ) I'm remaining optimistic, it's just a test haha. Will retake again as early as January.

I'm also elated for everyone who did so well, congrats!!! now you can breathe a sigh of relief and tackle writing those personal statements!!! as for people who didn't do as well as hoped: keep the faith, focus on studying, and you'll do fine next time around. you can do it! = )

I finally built up the courage to check....

April 2006
VR 6
PS 10
BS 9
WR P
=25P

August 2006
VR 8 🙂
PS 12 🙂 🙂
BS 12 🙂 🙂 🙂
WR R
= 32R 😱 😀 😀 😀

Im so happy right now, I actualli cried. Gratz to everyone, and for those not happy i went from a 25P to a 32R you just have to set u mind to it, work hard, and leave the rest up to the big guy upstairs.

On a side note, does the R in Writing make up for the 8 in VR in some shape or form?

Practice range: 28-35
AAMC-9 was 32 so its pretty predictive.

FORM: DM

Took princeton review originally for april, bombed and got a 25P
Did hardcore studying on my own over the whole summer, used the TPR Books
Reviewed with audio osmosis
EK verbal tests plus 10 Full Lengths

On a side note, does the R in Writing make up for the 8 in VR in some shape or form?

Not nearly as much as it should. I'm a reapplicant. This is my first MCAT score:

April 2005
P = 15 (expected)
V = 7 (I sucked)
B = 12 (lower than my diagnostic test at TPR)
W = Q
Total = 34Q

I called up a lot of places that rejected me and they said my verbal killed me, they didn't even care about the writing score that much. But a 7 is really low, so your 8 and a R for writing score should be sufficient. 😀

My new MCAT:
August 2006
P = 12 (WTF!, and I'm going to teach Kaplan MCAT Physics soon. Expected 14-15)
V = 9 (W00TZ W00TZ ALSKJF;LASKJF;ASF. THIS IS ALL I ASKED FOR. I'M DONE!!!)
B = 14 (Expected)
W = R (one prompt was, "should the government censor art?" I was so screwed, i put down Farenheit 9/11 and the Da Vince Code as art forms. I was seriously pulling sh1t out of my @ss, which is pathetic cuz i passed Art History AP 4 years ago.)
Total = 35R

I'M REALLY HAPPY!!!! I was expecting a 36Q because I average a 14-15 on the sciences, but I don't care anymore because I got a 9 on Verbal (and i'm an engineer, w00tz!)

i got 8V 12P 11B.......will the 8 verbal screen me out of schools that do #cut-offs?

Gujudoc--regardless of your score I would like to offer my congratulations for completing the exam!! I know what you are going through with the verbal section but you are deserving of medical school. You seem like a kind, sweet and compassionate person from your posts and you deserve better!! Best of luck:luck: and congratulations.

I completely agree! You've been such a support and help to everyone here...you're like one of those people that are just meant to be wonderful doctors! Thanks for everything Gujudoc!

Congrats everyone....ya'll are freaking awesome.

My scores...
I think my form was DJ, i'm not completely sure....
Verbal: 09 (can't believe it, was always doing better than 10)
PS: 09 (this either, expected a 7-8)
BS: 10 (would have loved a 12)
So 28Q.

I'm not happy, but I guess I can retake it. Though that would be horrific. I did balance this with a fulltime research job, which ended Aug 11 so I can't blame myself too much, but I'm pretty disappointed in myself. I just wanted to be DONE with the MCAT mess!! Hahah...oh well...i'm not comparing myself to THIS competition atleast 😉 I'm good for Texas, though, but I'll probably re-take it anyway....

Cheers to all you awesome scorers out there!

Oh interestingly, VR and PS were sections before lunch, when the proctors in my room whispered incessantly, we told them to shut up at lunch and they kinda brought it down....but the whole room could hear them in the first two sections...we all complained. The MCAT office sent me a letter acknowledging that the supervisor did agree with what i said (i.e., loud talking/whispering/about instructions and other stuff, and a third woman entering and leaving the room), and she apologized if it was a distraction but get this: SHE did not FEEL it was excessive. So nothing done. I was extremely pissed off. Was hoping my scores wouldn't reflect it...but I guess they did....

i got 8V 12P 11B.......will the 8 verbal screen me out of schools that do #cut-offs?

You won't get cut off by most of the schools. An 8 on verbal is 50 %ile, so you're just average. But when I got a 7, that's like below average so it's like they probably thought, "he can't even read?>!". of course verbal has nothing to do w/ reading since the questions and answers are bogus. But yah, you're fine man. Most schools won't look seriously consider you if you get a 7 or lower in any subject so you just made it. But I still got a few interviews from top top schools, but that was an exception because they told me that they know verbal is stupid and doesn't mean anything. Now, only if i could improve my interviewing skills. 😛

August 2005:

VR:7
BS:10

August 2006:

Form AS
33O
PS:9
VR:12!!
BS:12

It's no 35+ and that 9 is bugging me, but I'm still damn excited...my hands are still shaking...

For everyone who didn't get the scores they expected...don't give up!! If you have the drive you will get what you want. I didn't really get 12's on my practice tests, either, but I would have if I eliminated stupid mistakes (reading too fast was usually the problem, not that I didn't know the content). Once I learned to take things a little slower, my rescored practice tests were in the 12-13 range as opposed to 9-11.

That sux. When i practiced, I would do the test and if i get distracted by phone calls or what not, I would still keep going and don't give myself extra bonus pts for being distracted. You never know what might happen (wobbly chair, food poisoning, stinky person in front of you). Unfortunately, I don't think you can really complain to AMCAS about it because it wasn't that significant. It takes a lot for them to do something. I know this is different, but for my Art History AP test, the fire alarm went off 30 minutes into the test and we had to finish the next hour or so w/ the lights and sirens blazing. The proctors told college board about it, but they didn't do sh1t. So unless someone runs into the room with a gun and forces everybody to fill in all ur bubbles w/ highlighter, not much you can do. 🙁 🙁 🙁

You're right, I actually practiced in Starbucks and cafes, and even our TPR practice rooms were cold/pencils squeaking etc...but its different on the actual test day when the entire room is quietly working and two people are carrying on an audible conversation, in loud whispers....i'd only have prepared for that if I had known it was going to happen and made my mom stand next to me and whisper 🙁 oh well! ya, it sucks that college board/aamc doesn't do anything about it 🙁 🙁
