Ugh, another thing to add to my list of "Why I regret moving to the West Coast": the internet shuts down early here. I'm usually up until 2-3AM (at least)...on the east coast that meant I got all of the fellow night owls in the East and a lot of semi-night owls/straggling day people from the West.

Now I only get fellow western night owls and the internet gets boring around 9-10PM. Sadness.

the internet gets boring at 9-10pm on the west coast cause we're all out doing stuff and not actually on the internet

Riiiight...all of the people who are online from 6-9PM suddenly find something interesting to do at that point 😉 It's totally not that all the interesting East coasters have gone to bed. 😛

But seriously, if I'm up at 10PM over there, it's only 7 here, so people are still awake. But at 10PM here, it's like 1AM there. Bleh. This coast does not fit my sleep/internet schedule.

Oh god, never!
I'm not anti-Brit, just anti-Reddit.

Side note, finally broke down and got SDN mobile and...holy shiz this is a really well designed app! Almost better than the website, only the smileys don't render properly 🙁

Sent via phone, please excuse typos and formatting errors!

Howdy folks! Workin' on catching up in this delish thread. Here we go for the first half:
I would hope so. I need more to occupy myself with some days of the week when the 2017 thread is in a lull.
+1
What's better: MD or DO?

Also, why do URM's get all the benefits?

Discuss.
Classic.
Piano and Guero is where it's at!
FTFY
Bonus, I also get an SDN violinist icon!

So far all I can do is some simple folksy fiddle music, but right now I'm trying to figure out a couple punk rock covers. +pity+

Loved it!
Nothing beats the Vulva 😀
FTFY, too.
So I have a friend who was recently cited for public defecation (probably from excessive drinking/eating).

Are his med school hopes finished?
Oh man, did they let him finish? LoL
A social thread for me!?

Awesome gif, dude!
In the market for a new backpack after mine decided to just poop everything out from the bottom. Suggestions?
Swiss Army has treated me so well as of late. But I imagine you've already made a purchase since I'm so far behind.
Also, NorCal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SoCal. There I said it.
No. Just. No.
I have lost approximately 100 IQ points reading this thread.

C'mon guys...I thought you'd post more interesting stuff. After all, I'm procrastinating from doing charts and if I find THAT more interesting that this thread, someone's in trouble. 😡
Wait for it... I'm sure you won't be disappointed. But srsly, charts are more entertaining? That BLOWS.
Sup brahs, I'm in the library studying right now but I'm mirin' this gorgeous premed girl. But I don't know how to approach her. Since she's in the library studying, she probably just wants to focus. Also, I don't want to talk to her about the the class we take together because that = friend zone. Should I lie to her and tell her I got a 45 on the MCAT or something? Should I give her a note and just say right your number down on it?

Help me up brahs and sahs.

You're doing it wrong bro

Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ?
Phase 3: Profit
Incorrect. Best way to go about it?

Phase 1: "Omg, we're wearing matching undies! How cute!"
Phase 2: Hug.
Phase 3: Consumate.

LoL, I don't even know where my mind is today.
You be like, "Aye girl, if I was an enzyme I'd be DNA Helicase so I could unzip your genes."

I'd be a ligand so I can enter and exit your active site. :naughty:

Maybe she could be myosin so she could power stroke the heavy chain?
OMFG, I laughed so hard at all of these!!
Someone needs to make a new thread.

Title: Just got creeped on by pale 2/10 premed

Some guy that always stares at me in class just creeped on me in the library while I was studying. He smells really bad and needs to take a shower. I gave him the phone # for Domino's to make him leave me alone. His body = who was gym? His face = not even once.

brb dropping all my classes
brb restraining order
brb transferring colleges
Something like this guy?

I generally try to follow this guy's approach when talking to women- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJVmpLGjIdE
LoL, that was soooo bad! The actor exudes misogyny. loL
I thought it was a funny joke because the school that was posted is an int'l institution; thus, they do not employ policies for AA. :meanie:
Love the new avatar gnomie!
spill liquid on her then as you look into her eyes say how beautiful they are and that they glisten in the library's artificial lighting
Dropping a pen or pencil on her table as you pass might make her a little less irked than the water, but definitely used the gist before. It works well to break the ice.
Rewatching SCRUBS from the beginning since I got my acceptance. Currently half way through season 1. I hope I meet friends like Turk and JD!
I have the entire collection in the limited edition chart case.
Internet Fight

LoL!!! Love that gif!
Have you found Waldo yet? Keep looking.
You're so mean. :naughty:

On that note, I can't believe I finally caught up. I also had no idea Narmerguy was merging threads in here. It makes sense, though.

For real, I spent a good 10 minutes staring at this thing. Decided I had to spread the love to SDN 😛

Why is that one stickman simply sitting while others are running around? Thanks a lot Narmer. :nono:

Also Guero, NorCal >>>>>>>>>>>>>> SoCal. That's a fact. Prove me wrong.

Hey bud, welcome! But this is the social thread, not the official c/o 2017 thread. :d

Traditional. Nope. Yup. No idea where I'll eventually end up, but definitely have a plan in place for all scenarios (e.g., WL @ top two schools).

That's the vaguest definition I have ever seen...

IsthataCHALLENGE

Edit: I am actually failing that challenge, as it turns out it's pretty hard to search for a vaguely defined word. Who'da thunk it?

But srsly, the medical definition part was not vague at all!

It's somewhat less vague compared to the usual definition.

Hello fellow SDN members. So I'm relatively new here but a recent event has enticed me to post, and I know this is the social thread, but I think it would be ridiculous to create a new topic so I am going to ask my question here and hope I get some serious replies

What are your techniques for staying positive when the unexpected happens? In my calculus class we have two midterms and a final that are worth the majority of our grades. After taking the test 1) I feel like I need to vomit and 2) I'm overwhelming worried about my future. Now I know, I know, it's only one class, and only one test, get over yourself blah blah blah. But when this stuff happens to you (if it ever does) how have you gotten past these feelings? I want nothing more to move forward but goodness gracious I AM FREAKING OUT! :scared:

Move forward from what? Have you gotten the grade back? Do you have concrete proof that you are doing poorly?

If it's just nerves:
Chillax, man, there's not even anything wrong yet. As soon as the test is turned in, it should be off your mind; you're done, you can't change anything about it, just give yourself a break from thinking about it. Go out and have a few beers or something, eat a cupcake. Find your happy place and live there until the next class comes and drags you out kicking and screaming.

If you actually bombed it (as in, have proof):
On the plus side, you'll probably remember the material you were tested on pretty well, if you go over the test and learn from your mistakes. I always remember the mistakes I've made better than any other factoids. Take a deep breath, focus FIRST on fixing your habits moving forward (so you don't miss anything important as it's being presented now), and then spend extra time reviewing what you missed before the midterm. This can be difficult if it's really a building class, like math, where you can't continue without learning the foundation. In those cases...talk to the prof and work out a plan moving forward.

Either way, don't rehash the things you can't change. Use the past to guide your future actions, sure, but if you sit there lamenting it all day, you're gonna have a bad time. And continue to do poorly.

Also, just in general, chilllllllllllllllll

👍 Thank you so much. I think I just needed someone to tell me to calm the hell down. I don't have concrete proof, but the professor posted the answer key and if my memory serves, my answers were not the same. But you are right, I'm going to have a doughnut (no cupcakes nearby! 🙁 ) and just unwind this weekend. Hopefully later I can kick this class in the butt by the end over semester.
