HAHAHAHA!!!!! I just laughed in class

Yeah I'm sick of it too. If you hate someone for a specific reason, you'd better make sure that you actually dislike them for that reason. I've been seeing just a TON of that from both sides; liberals using the same reasons that conservatives used, conservatives using the same reasons that liberals used. It just bugs me.I love how everyone criticizes him for saying America First, but those same people have been asking for years why we are policing the world when we have **** to take care of in our own country.
I'm just sick of politics. Almost everyone who chooses to express their opinions on social media is a **** waffle whose opinions are typically not researched or based in reality at all. That's why I deleted my FB app.
Edit: I do think that video is great. It just reminded me of the above.

Is anyone watching this show? http://www.history.com/shows/six/season-1/episode-1
Up until this point I didn't know anyone who was considering Caribbean schools. A girl I know (but not well enough to actually say anything to her) was super excited today because she got her first II, but it turned out to be from SGU. I feel really bad for her because she's such a nice person and really wants to be a doctor. She applied to at least 30 schools, including at least one DO school, so I'm guessing there is some issue with her app that I don't know about. But it's scary to see someone I admire go down this road...
Is this something you guys have experienced?

I deleted my social media for the same reason. Emotional, partisan, and uninformed politics on both sides just piss me off.I love how everyone criticizes him for saying America First, but those same people have been asking for years why we are policing the world when we have **** to take care of in our own country.

I really can't stand it when people just throw amendments around like they apply to everything all the time.uninformed politics on both sides just piss me off.
I would try to say something. DO what's right. 😉Up until this point I didn't know anyone who was considering Caribbean schools. I use to hear people talk about paramedics who went onto the Caribbean med schools to become docs. I would cringe because they thought that was really cool. "Yeah, _____ is off in the Caribbean now studying medicine, what a great spot to be at for school.

I'm going to see how things shake out for her first. She has sensible friends, and I imagine that at least one will step up, but we'll see. And yeah, she was really playing it off like it would be really cool to be in the warm Carribbean...Such naivety 🙁

It's actually a pretty common phenomenon that in a group of people where a task is required to be completed that will provide some benefit for a small sacrifice, the individuals in the group will simply assume someone else will step up and complete the task, resulting in no one doing it. This is part of the reason why a person can be brutally attacked in public and no one will step in to help or even call the police, and the probability of someone stepping up is inversely proportional to the number of bystanders. So ironically, more people means there is less likely to be someone stepping forward.
It's called the bystander effect and can be modeled using the volunteers dilemma in game theory. There are some pretty famous examples (like murders and rapes), but it happens all the time in less dramatic situations like in the workplace or at school.

Oh yeah, I learned all about the bystander effect in my social psych class - it's a really interesting phenomenon. Although, it turns out the classical example of the Kitty Genovese murder has been misconstrued by a lot of psych classes! People did actually try to help her and the police were even alerted by at least one of the bystanders. Of course there are still plenty of criminal cases where the bystander effect came into play. But I digress. I mainly want to wait to see if she gets any last minute hail mary interviews. If she's still talking about going there and no one who knows her better steps in, I'll take one for the team and try to give her my take. Or maybe just link her to SDN, haha. My worry is that the exuberance of an acceptance will take precedent over logic and reason, unfortunately.

Yeah, that wasn't the example I was thinking of since someone actually did call the police (although given how many people witnessed it, you'd think there'd be more).
It'll benefit you both to help her.

Agreed! I know myself well enough to know that I would feel very guilty if she stays uninformed and ends up making the decision to attend.

So would I. You would think anyone who is her friend and knows better would want to try to save her from six figure, non-dischargeable debt with no hope of getting a residency.
On an unrelated note, I hate working out in the morning. I'm definitely a night owl. But I was too tired last night because we had these fire fighting drills yesterday that went until dinner time, so my wife made me get up and workout this morning with her (she's a morning person). I feel good that I worked out, but now I'm exhausted lol.

Haha, the title is Yarteries. Omg
Same here, I want to start running in the mornings, but the cold keeps me in bed.On an unrelated note, I hate working out in the morning. I'm definitely a night owl. RIGHT?? My shift makes it so the only time I have available to run is in the mornings. I love morning runs but this winter has been just brutal.Same here, I want to start running in the mornings, but the cold keeps me in bed.

You'd be surprised at how many people join the Navy without knowing how to swim.

Well, the AMA ENT thread is a bust. 🙁 I was really hoping to read some good stuff.

You have to pass a prt before graduating, but yeah some people come there without being able to do more than a few push-ups. They do NOT have a fun time. My division got beat a minimum of 3 times per day. The folks who weren't already in decent shape were struggling.

I think a doctor should first get verified before they do an AMA. A long time ago I thought I was talking to CT surgeon here, then I looked at his recent post and it was nothing but pre-med ****. lol

That's annoying. Which is why I'll wait til I'm at least a fellow (verified) before making one.

The Marines and the Navy have basically the same pre-boot program, they just differ a little. But not every recruiting division enforces attendance. I only went like three times in the four months before I shipped out.
