Hey everyone,
I just had a question if I am verified now and waiting to be released to schools, am I right to assume that most if not all my secondaries will be in by the end of August? I'm debating whether to take summer classes in July or just wait until Fall, if most secondaries (a lot of them) come in the summer I'd think it would be wise to just push my classes for the fall so I can focus all my effort on them. Thoughts?

I think it's safe to assume that you should see most of them by the end of the summer. Most schools play. To begin interviews in September so it stands to reason that secondaries will go out by Mid-July at the latest.

LOL! lecom email got me excited for a moment. it turns out secondaries are available for everybody 🙂

same here, then I went to the website and it isn't even up yet. All excited for nothing yet!

CCOM secondary received 6/24, submitted 6/25. One down, lots more to go. When I get them, that is.

Hmmm I would keep checking. Maybe check your spam folder?

yeah i haven't received it yet. i see they have low cut off 2.8gpa in CIB. i definitely passed their min so i guess i'll just wait

Yeah that's odd, believe me it definitely goes by GPA cause I know my MCAT was God awful lol.

KCOM secondary received. I have something to do! Lol.

I just got e-mailed my CUSOM secondary... did anyone else get a "sorry, this address does not exist" message from their browser when they clicked the link?

I got a secondary from LECOM-Erie but it is saying there is no active applications in this portal. I am going to call the school ASAP.

LECOM been having tech issues admissions said it going to be fix asap.

Question: I heard a rule of thumb that you want to send back your secondaries within a week of receiving them. Is spending more time than that going to hurt your chances? I received 7 secondaries already and I don't think they will all be done within a week.

Yeah, I'd like to spread my secondaries over a few weeks since they kind of cost a lot... that and my science prof's LOR isn't written yet 🙁

I think if you're complete by mid July, you should be good. Most of the adcoms are still sorting out last minute decisions from the previous cycle so they likely won't look at the new batch of applications until at least July.

Plus many of the secondaries ask similar questions, and you should be able to recycle your answers.

I wish some of the schools I've applied to would email me secondary stuff already. I have much better work outs at the gym when I am thinking about the content for the prompts. \o/

Does anyone know the best way to proceed if you have received secondaries but have not yet completed your committee interview? Can I go ahead and send my essays in and let them know the date of my committee interview? Please help!

So what schools have sent out secondaries?

Just received an invite to complete Nova's secondary!

NSU-COM requires each applicant to complete an online NSU Admission Application and to pay a $50 nonrefundable application fee.
Please be aware that you should meet the minimum admission requirements for your application to be considered.

I don't think that's a secondary. It seems like they want you to apply again or something. I may be wrong.

Then they ended it with this: ... You will be contacted by email upon receipt of your secondary application.

Nova secondaries have been sent (or at least, have begun to be sent). Best of luck to all!

Anyone doing the LECOM-Erie secondary, am I the only one who finds it odd that they ask for SAT/ACT scores? I honestly can't remember how good or bad my scores are and am curious how much they'll matter in the application process. Like I literally have no idea what a 1860 or 28 mean anymore, lol.

I'm planning on doing that.....Did anyone from the last app cycle do this?

The biggest stressor so far is the Osteopathic question on NSU secondary. It was a glitch for applicants last year so now a lot of people are under the impression that it isn't a formal essay question this year when they give us a 2000 char limit.

hmmm... I got one from CUSOM today and one from Nova but I didn't get one from LECOM-Erie yet... Has everyone who applied there got secondaries?

I still have a bio lab to complete next semester. Does this mean they won't consider my app?

What are you talking about?

I just submitted the secondary and didn't see any essay questions. Other than the regular biographical info, they asked "how did you learn about osteopathic medicine?", a question that asks about your employment history, and a question asking you to list and BRIEFLY discuss your clinical volunteering activities.

What am I missing?

Some ppl r thinking about treating the "how did you learn about osteopathic medicine" question as an essay which I think is going overboard.

I'm thinking that a one sentence answer should suffice and I'm planning on doing just that.

It is questionable. I see where some people that put one sentence for that "How did you learn about osteopathic medicine?" are coming from because it is a small box and doesn't specify a char limit, but someone found out that it has a 2000 char limit and that maybe NSU intended for it to be an essay format question.

I'm still going to stay on the safe side and go overboard because I would love to attend here and it is worth the extra day or so perfecting an essay even if it is for nothing.

I'm going to call them tomorrow to see what they say.

What do you guys think of varying secondaries from year to year? For example, if I got a interview at one school last year and their secondary is the same, should I tweak it or totally overhaul it for this year? Thanks

If it was good enough to get you an interview last year, then you should probably just tweak it and spend more time improving your interview skills.

I know its been said before but check your spam folder!! I found 2 secondaries in there when I checked.

I cannot believe that the KCOM secondary is asking for my SAT scores. I've been trying to put those scores behind me for the past 5 years. Why do they need my SAT scores?

I have not gotten an email from DMU, but if you go to their website you can create an account and fill out a secondary....is that a good idea? Or do I wait for the official go ahead? And by that I mean fill it out now and just submit when I get the email....
