For all of you who took the exam in May:

This is the official score release thread for the May 2007 MCAT dates. Feel free to post serious information and announcements about the impending score release. You can post your scores in here when the time comes as well.

This post also serves as a warning to remind you guys that fake threads stating "SCORES ARE UP" will give you an automatic post hold for one week.

Best of luck to everyone waiting! :luck:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOULD U B VERY KIND TO SHARE WITH ME THE BOOKS AND STUDY METHODS U USED? I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT. GR8 SCORE

PS, BS, VR: 14 across the board
Writing Sample: Q
Total Score: 42Q

I was flabbergasted. I've never scored higher than a 39 on my practice tests, and my average was ~36.5 or so. I feel like this score isn't even mine. 😀

I am unbelievably amazed at the scores!!!! I never in my dreams expected this: 40S!!!!!

My goodness, on the AAMC practice tests my average was a 33 or 34, and I took all 8 of them. My highest was a 37, but that was only on one of them. This is such a shock to me, it still hasn't really hit me!!

And I'm glad to finally be posting on this thread! It feels SOOO good to finally be done with the MCAT!

Congratulations to everyone!! 🙂

And if anyone has a question about study tips, I'd be happy to share what I've learned! 🙂

Hey, if you guys don't mind, when you post your scores could you give an indication of if your final score is what you expected based on either a) your average practice scores; or b) what you thought you got walking out of the MCAT?

I'm hoping some of the people that said PS was killer will do well. I took the 6/15 MCAT, but am in the same PS hell boat. Luck guys!

I taught for kaplan for a year... and I used that for my study. I used the AAMC practice tests online and was hoping for a 35ish score. I'm happy because I thought PS was rough.

32Q.

Pretty much what I expected although I thought I might have pulled a 10 in PS - guess the curve was not that forgiving. Either way I am thrilled. Highest Practice exam was 31 which I got on 3-4 exams.

I'M SO THRILLED!!! My practice scores this time around averaged 35 (the last time they averaged 32). Highest practice score was a 36. I spent the whole month trying not to predict my score,... I'm just so shocked!!

10s across the board. Walking out of the exam I was expcting mid 20s but all my practice exams were around 32. I signed up for the july 24th right after I took the exam because I got real scared. I don't know what to do now, I haven't looked at anything in over a month and there are only 3 weeks left.

If your practice exams were around 32, and you got a nicely balanced 10/10/10, why retake it next month? I think you should stick with what you've got, but that's just my opinion.

That's a solid score..Unless you scored 2+ points below in any section compared to what you were averaging on practice exams, I wouldn't dare retake.

8 ps, 12 vr, 11 bs, for a 31O. So happy, so thought I bombed everything. Hadn't topped 29 on aamc practice test, higher Kaplan, but not much. I guess I was right about not doing well on ps, but hey, could be worse.

I'm relieved but thinking of trying to bust out one of those tasty 38's in Aug...

Frick. I don't know how to feel. This was my first take, in the midst of an insane, 24 (all science) unit quarter, and I did MINIMAL prep. I know I can do better, I'm just not sure if I should put myself through it and delay the apps.

very surprised with individual scores but overall around what i expected. i was expecting an 8 in PS and an 11 in verbal and they were turned around. i felt like i did better than a 10 in BS but everyone thought it was easy, so i guess the curve got me. anyway, good luck if you´re studying!

For 30 minutes of studying (kid you not), this calls for some serious celebrations. The S is particularly heartwarming, albeit absolutely meaningless.

Congrats to all for making it through this; good luck on future aspirations.

What were your practice MCATs like? Were they much higher?

I averaged 32ish - topped out at 34 on #10 and was improving from each test

That said I'm grateful to have a solid score that doesn't require a retake... but I'm tempted since Weill calls to me.

I was shocked to find out my score...I thought I bombed this one..

I was seriously thinking of voiding this exam which I am so happy I didnt..

anyway..I can't be more happier..except that M (Percentile Range: 9.8 - 29.5 .hmm..)
...I know I am a horrible writer so didnt expect much..but I was hoping for N or O..anyway..

I signed up for July 13th one cuz I thought I would need to retake it..

guess I can throw all these books away now..

Hey MCAT quasi-twin, good work! I thought I'd bombed it too when I was walking out. Man, you really bent the physics section over the table...

That matches my highest practice test, CBT 3. It's higher than I expected, but I always try to be conservative in my estimates. I find it makes me happier, sort of like having the clock run 5 minutes fast.

And congrats everybody! The loooong wait is over. Now the next long wait begins.....actually applying to med school.

practices ranged from 21-35, only breaking 30s at the last 2, I think Im sticking with this one.

That''s MAD LUCK..no other way to explain that 15 for PS..

I barely had enough time just to finish the section..

May 11, '07: 11PS 11VR R 12BS = 34R

Got my May scores back, and thought, "Harvard, here I come."
After looking at most of the posts on here, I feel decidedly average.
Now that my buzz has been officially killed, I'm hoping to get into just one of the 17 schools I'm applying to, perhaps one of my (2) state schools.

ugh

I know my new score is decent, however, I worry about my extracurriculars. I was very involved in track and field in college, and that ate up most of my spare time. My track accomplishments are pretty outstanding (school record holder, conference record breaker, academic all-american, 2-time national qualifier), but do med schools really give a hoot that I'm fast and can triple jump nearly 40 feet? I have research experience, and have presented at two conferences, but these were in the field of psychology, nothing "hard science." I was in a PhD program for psychology, was #1 in my class, with a 4.0, but my heart wasn't in it and I dropped out to go for medicine. My volunteer experience is sporadic, but continuous over a long period of time (since circa '97), and not medical. I feel like I'm all over the place (on paper, that is)! I am now 25, so kind of non-trad, kind of not.😕:scared:

Oh and I haven't even gotten into my GPA...shall I say GPAs? I spent my first two years of undergrad partying and my transcripts reflect that. I even pulled an F in speech, because I missed a speech the morning after a late night of revelry with my friend on her 20th bday...retook the course and got an A. Somehow, I still managed to graduate magna cum laude w/a 3.66 and went up from there in grad school and post-bac science courses. However, I had a C in calculus, a C in gen. physics 2, a C in ecology, and a C in organic chem. 1 (retook Ochem1 for an A). Will adcoms realize that my bad grades don't represent an intellectual deficiency? Even if they do, will they look down on me because I was a "dumb jock/party girl"?

Freakin' out here, sorry for the marathon post, people!

I can't express how happy I am to finally be making a post here!!

May 25th exam

PS: 11

Essay: M Oops!
BS: 12

Total: 34M (90.6-93rd percentile 😍 )

The only thing that was a minor downer was the stupid essay. I guess that's what you get for not really practicing it. Oh well. I am not going to worry over it at all and will just make sure that my personal statement is great.

This score was slightly higher than what I expected (30-32). I took 7 practice tests and my averages were as follows: PS 10.4, VR 11.3, BS 9.7 (31.4 total, 29-36 range).

I focused the most on PS when I studied because I felt that my content knowledge was weakest there. Also I hadn't seen Physics in 3 years. I did almost no Orgo studying at all because I took a gamble on their being very little Orgo on the test and hoping that what would be on it I would be familiar with. Risky strategy, but it worked for me because it freed up my time for Bio, which apparently sank in well. I do remember feeling good about the 10 or so Orgo questions the day of the real MCAT. I am surprised about BS being my top score because it was my lowest section all along.

I was EXTREMELY worried about my PS score because I found that section to be much harder than I was expecting. I remember feeling like I was guessing a lot more than I wanted to. After panicking for the first 5-7 minutes, I had to rush to complete the section and was unable to go back to any of my marked questions. I prayed daily to break a 10 in PS.

My expected scores (though I tried hard, unsuccessfully, not to predict) were something like PS 9, VR 12, BS 10.

Time to celebrate!! And then back to finishing my AMCAS!

Congratulations to everyone!

You scores are close to the cut line. One really can not help the other.

You went up alot from the last time so maybe take it again and get a 30-31.

What were your practice scores?

Also, depends on what state you are from.

Amazing scores!!! Congrats to all!!!

I just hope for a 29-31 range.

There are truly alot of intelligent people in these forums...

Dont let this scare you---there are plenty of people in the <28 range, they just arent the anally neurotic type of person that posts on SD.

I didnt get on SD for 1 month before the MCAT just as to not let myself be psyched out by other people. Remember that the test is you vs. everybody, not just you vs. SD. The posters on here make up a VERY small portion of the testing sample.

There are plenty of people who just lackadaisically sign up for the MCAT as if it were the SAT and take it with the mentality of "If I do well enough, I guess Medicine is for me".

Study & practice hard and you will be fine. Just remember that 30 is good enough to get into your (non-California) state school.

Since all the folks who made 38+'s are getting all the congrats, I thought I'd give a shout out to all the folks who met their goals.

Good job guys, we're finished!

NO MORE F'ING MCAT!!!

Since many of us haven't taken the MCAT yet..

Can you guys tells us what your practice or diagnostic (Kaplan/AAMC/TPR) scores were? And if you are so happy about your score and feel like giving back to SDN.. posting in the 30+ study habits thread would be sweet 😀
