is there anyone here who wants to swap secondaries and give advice to each other?
Yes but it happens quicklythank u! so even after verification, i would still need to wait for the actual school to send me the secondaries?
It was the other way around since people with several interviews usually have above 515 MCATs.would u say that the people who got interviews but didnt make it also had a low mcat?
sorry what does II mean?It was the other way around since people with several interviews usually have above 515 MCATs.
The point is it is not always a certainty that one has 4 IIs and they get an admission while the other had only 1 so they have zero chance.
Interview Invitation (we abbreviate it as II on this site)sorry what does II mean?
Would it be considered late if I submitted my primary app around June 7? I have a 518 and 4.00 for refere
If I submitted my TMDSAS primary application first week of July, any estimates on when it will be processed based on previous years🙁@notjoemama (and others waiting for their apps to be verified)
It's hard not to feel anxious while waiting for things to happen - but you are right on track in terms of timing and not late at all in this TMDSAS cycle.
Here is where you can look at the progress TMDSAS is making on verifications, on the TMDSAS Home Page
TMDSAS Homepage in the colored box to the right side of the page.
This box isn't visible on a phone, only on a desktop or laptop computer.
They work on apps on weekdays between 8 and 5.
The Friday (July 11) note on the TMDSAS homepage indicated they were working on primary apps submitted on June 7, so it yours will probably be verified and sent to schools by the end of next week.
You will need to get an email from each school to see your instructions on how to submit your secondary essays, but working on writing them now during this month of waiting will enable you to have them ready to submit as soon as you get that email invitation.
2 more things to do while you wait:
1. If you didn't know, TMDSAS (and AACOMAS) need you to log in to your MCAT portal/account to give permission to "release" your score to TMDSAS>> See instructions on the TMDSAS guide about how to do this. TMDSAS can then include your MCAT score to all the schools you selected.
2. Do your CASPer and Duet tests because many TMDSAS schools want those.
It's a long application cycle with interview invitations possible any time between now and January. Don't let the waiting get to you.
About a month. You can take your CASPer while waiting and start working on secondary essaysIf I submitted my TMDSAS primary application first week of July, any estimates on when it will be processed based on previous years🙁
Usually all but Dell and Fertitta within 24-48 hours.Hi! I applied to TMDSAS portal in June and I finally received notification my primary application was submitted to schools. I am confused on when I should be expecting to get those emails? I just want to make sure I am not missing them because some say they get sent automatically as soon as you submit?
TMDSAS is currently working on applications submitted June 10th. If you got the message your app has been transmitted, you will get emails from the schools soon. Check your junk folder too.Hi! hey are you also working on your primary still?Hey there! I have seen mixed advice on this, but based on the description of the Extracurricular and Leisure Activities section, would it be appropriate to include church involvement? This isn't a specific volunteer activity like VBS that is better suited to another section, but I have been active since I was a kid and planned on talking about how it was my first in-depth exposure to the significance of understanding cultural context and holding space for different points of view. Any insight/feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!
Over 70% of Texas applicants submit their primaries by the end of July. You are in a crowd, but definitely on time. How screwed am I if I submit my primary today? Between work, studying for the MCAT, and various publication undertakings, I just never got around to this. As for secondaries, I'll have everything ready to go by mid-August. My LoRs should be in by this Saturday, and my Casper/PREView is on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively. I just got my MCAT back today as well (519).
Should I push this off to next year?
Thanks a good score. You should be able to get interviews in September/october if you apply now.How screwed am I if I submit my primary today? you will be fine. Whether they eventually rule that you are a Texas resident or OOS, your application will go through.Submitted on 6/5. My app should have been verified last week but they requested documentation to prove my residency, blocking my verification. I was able to provide half the necessary documents, but emailed them about tax forms since I had to file for an extension. They have not been responding and I am a little worried about the delay this is causing. It has been three days since I sent them the info. I know there isn't much I can do but the wait is just eating through me.
It's kind of nonsensical, but anything from the start of college up until October 1 goes in the "current" activity section.I plan on submitting my application by July 25. Where am I supposed to put an activity that starts in August? It says the Planned Activities section is only for activities that start in October at the earliest. This is boggling my mind, as one would think an activity that hasn't been started by the time of application submission should absolutely go in the Planned Activities section, but I want to play by the rules here. Please help!
Welcome @dekudoctorOk, I want to start off by saying I knew I shouldn’t have checked this site lol, it’s not good for the mind. I submitted my primary 5/19, received secondaries 6/3, and submitted all my secondaries by 6/9-6/15. I have seen people posting II’s that submitted their secondaries sooner than me as well as later than me. What does this mean? Does this mean my application was passed over and I shouldn’t expect an II? Kind of stressed because I just don’t know what to think. @wysdoc or anyone else that has knowledge I would love your input!
Thanks for the insight @wysdoc, I’ll work to keep a good perspective!Welcome @dekudoctor
This site has a lot of good information, so don't give up on us just yet!
If you want to take a look at our running list of Texas interview invitation days from last cycle 2024-2025 Interview invitation log
you will see that each school has many times to invite you, between now and December or even January.
I will start a list like that for this year in a few weeks.
Not being first doesn't mean they have passed you by, so be proud you got everything completed early and enjoy the ride.
To add on to what @wysdoc said...Ok, I want to start off by saying I knew I shouldn’t have checked this site lol, it’s not good for the mind. Didnt you also receive a scholarship quite late?To add on to what @wysdoc said...
Like many med school applicants I’m sure you are used to being the creme of the crop wherever you are because you have worked hard, made good choices, and set high standards for yourself. Something I had to come to terms with (along with most other applicants) is that at this stage you are now surrounded by a lot of people just as high-achieving as yourself. This is not to say that you're less than, unqualified, etc... it's just a different ball game now. Only a few people can be on those first II waves... there are PLENTY more to come. Having enough confidence in your resume and stats to even apply to medical school is a big deal. Most people who start this path don't even get this far. Be proud of yourself, first and foremost!
Unfortunately, the internet has a horrific sampling bias because what is being shared online will overwhelmingly only be the good stuff. Most people, ESPECIALLY in July, have only heard radio silence. SDN is a double-edged sword... I thought it was a great source of information last year but at times caught myself stewing in envy because I saw IIs, prematches, scholarships, etc going to everyone except me (which, looking back, is quite silly because I had a very successful cycle).
It will be a long year, but it's all worth it in the end. Spend time with your loved ones, keep doing those things you like doing, and stay busy. Or, be like me and make stupid jokes on the internet to cope with the anxiety. 🙂
I did, which adds even more to how ridiculous it was to be jealous of others! Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but I'd love to go back and reassure myself everything would be okay. The application cycle does weird things to ya!Didnt you also receive a scholarship quite late?
I am glad you posted that when received because the assumption is the scholarships are given after match day at McGovern and thats the end of the story.I did, which adds even more to how ridiculous it was to be jealous of others! Thankfully this morning my dad submitted and got the tax return so I submitted it. Hopefully it gets transmitted and verified without issuesyou will be fine. Whether they eventually rule that you are a Texas resident or OOS, your application will go through.
The official channel to follow up on it (as you probably know by now) is by messaging the TMDSAS liaison working on your file, in your TMDSAS portal.
Keep working on them one by one and get them submitted.I had a lot of life events happen unfortunately after I received tmdsas secondaries and some schools haven't been submitted. Is it worth it to still submit after a month or should I switch over to out of state medical schools? for reference im an Texas resident, 509 gpa, and 3.53 gpa
Did you attend a college using the quarter system?I'm reviewing the PCR report right now. For how my classes transferred, on my Stats portion and Chem there is a 0.3 and 0.6 credit deficiency. Would I need to go take another Chem or Stats course or would this be neglected?
Yes I didDid you attend a college using the quarter system?
Yes, sometimes that will make the credits come out to an uneven number when you try to convert to semester hours.Yes I did
Might want to take an hour of online class if any are available.Yes I did
Here is the thread for volunteer essay readers. Please read the directions in the first post, then scroll over to the last post to see who's available.Hey there! I'm trying to find the thread where people offer to give feedback on essays. Would any of y'all know which one that is?
I feel taking another class for 0.3 credits sounds extreme but I would if needed. But I will check in with all of them first of course.Might want to take an hour of online class if any are available.
The other choice is to see if anything on class list can be considered for a makeup - another math class and another science class.
Although TMDSAS might not agree to substitution, the schools are known to agree for accepted students.
My suggestion is to find 1 hour seminars or labs.I feel taking another class for 0.3 credits sounds extreme but I would if needed. But I will check in with all of them first of course.
