Everyone says knows UCLA is a good school if you want to specialize. well of those of us here who are planning to attend UCLA, how many of you guys are interested in specializing? I know some say its silly to discuss since we don't have any idea of what were interested in. but for fun, i'd say Ortho for me.

Everyone says knows UCLA is a good school if you want to specialize. well of those of us here who are planning to attend UCLA, how many of you guys are interested in specializing? I know some say its silly to discuss since we don't have any idea of what were interested in. but for fun, i'd say Ortho for me.

I don't think it's silly to discuss this now, I'd like to specialize. Ortho or pediatrics maybe, but def. not perio. (Who wants to be a gum gardener? ) Everyone in my family that has a bachelors finished in their late 20's or early 30's, so I kind of want to stay in school until I'm around that age too.

I know a lot of people end up living in Weyburn Terrace which are graduate student apartments. I'm definitely going to try to get in there because I heard they are really nice and close to the school. However, I don't know if we can apply yet...does anyone know?

it basically said it can not confirm my request after going through the payment page too. When it went to the receipt page, it just gave up.

No trouble really. when i first submit, it said it didnt go through. then when i checked it, it said submission approved. try that sgdorf.

I spoke w/ Noemi earlier today about housing. It seems the only benefit of applying now is that you have sent in your application. You're put into the lottery if you aren't given guaranteed housing. They will let us know around April if we are given guaranteed housing. But she also said that everyone that applied last year was able to get housing.

I found this on here under "SUBMIT APPLICABLE FORMS ELECTRONICALLY".

You are posting this question on a thread where everyone would tell u to pick UCLA .

I personally would pick UCLA because I don't like the 3 year idea. Lots of people love it, but it's not for me. I rather work hard for 4 full years since I believe it will better prepare me.
I also want to specialize and do some research during d-school. UCLA is therefore more suitable for me. Additionally, its tuition is cheaper.

UoP is a great school, though. I know some dentists from UOP and they are ultra friendly and skilled. They have nice labs and caring professors. It really comes down to what you want to do in the future. Good luck 🙂 .

So i called the housing office, and they told me i was a lottery applicant. i guess that means im automatically put in the lottery and cannot recieve guarantee housing? can other people who applied to housing try calling and asking about their status? should i look for alternatives housing starting now since i have no priority in housing? thanx guys.

I e-mailed Noemi asking whether I should apply for the online housing now or in April, and her reply says "it does not matter if you apply now or in April as this will not affect the lottery (in case you are not selected for a guaranteed spot)."

I also got in to UoP which I really like but I think there's a good chance I want to specialize and UCLA's great for that. I have an interview at Columbia next week, but it seems to have a lot of the same strengths as UCLA and its more expensive.

We should get together sometime before we start. I'm up in norcal, but I'd be willing to take a trip down if thats where most of you guys are from.
