heres an interesting topic to discuss. Everyone says knows UCLA is a good school if you want to specialize. well of those of us here who are planning to attend UCLA, how many of you guys are interested in specializing? I know some say its silly to discuss since we don't have any idea of what were interested in. but for fun, i'd say Ortho for me.
I know a lot of people end up living in Weyburn Terrace which are graduate student apartments. I'm definitely going to try to get in there because I heard they are really nice and close to the school. However, I don't know if we can apply yet...does anyone know?
I don't think it's silly to discuss this now, I'd like to specialize. Ortho or pediatrics maybe, but def. not perio. (Who wants to be a gum gardener?) Everyone in my family that has a bachelors finished in their late 20's or early 30's, so I kind of want to stay in school until I'm around that age too.
I applied yesterday!! I don't know if the application window was only for continuing students, (so I might have to apply again) but I did it anyway. I think the deadline is Jan. 31, so look into it.
Can you give the links to apply. Do you have the links for the married housing apartments?
thanx nate, i just i applied to weyburn as well. I signed up for september, isnt that when school starts?
That's when I signed up for too. I guess last year they had orientation the second or third week in September. Id like to be moved in by then so I can settle in. Did you have any trouble w/ the application?
it basically said it can not confirm my request after going through the payment page too. When it went to the receipt page, it just gave up.

Go to "My Housing" then click on "View My Account." Enter in your login ID and passowrd and it should tell you about any recent activity from 1 buisness day ago. I have a negative balance, so I'm going to call them tomorrow or Friday to ask a few questions. Worst case senerio: I have credit on my account.
Ok, when i checked the online thing...it shows no transaction and its been over 1 business day. anyone know the number to housing? thanx.
I spoke w/ Noemi earlier today about housing. It seems the only benefit of applying now is that you have sent in your application. You're put into the lottery if you aren't given guaranteed housing. They will let us know around April if we are given guaranteed housing. But she also said that everyone that applied last year was able to get housing.
How are you given guarateed housing? what determines wether or not you get thrown in the pot?
How much do they charge to apply?
FAFSA Question:
Has anyone filled out the FAFSA forms online? If you have, do you know the school code for the UCLA school of Dent?
Does the UCLA School of Dent code different from that of the regular UCLA campus. Let me know ASAP. Thanks.
I'm trying to decide... I got into UOP and have an interview at UCLA on the 19th...anyone with opinions feel free to respond with pros and cons of both. thanks.
Hi friend,
On the school's web site it says:
"Be sure to list UCLA School of Dentistry under Releases and Signatures, and include Title IV Federal School Code number 001315."
I found this on here under "SUBMIT APPLICABLE FORMS ELECTRONICALLY".
Hope this helps!
Wait I am confused now--I thought we don't have to do anything for the guaranteed housing; we just wait to be notified whether we get it or not in april. Then, we only apply for the lottery system if we find out we don't get guaranteed housing after april. Was I wrong? 😕
I e-mailed Noemi asking whether I should apply for the online housing now or in April, and her reply says "it does not matter if you apply now or in April as this will not affect the lottery (in case you are not selected for a guaranteed spot)."
Can any of the current student clarify this? Thanks!
if your selected for guaranteed housing, you would be notified in april. how the select guaranteed housing is not disclosed. I am basically told that i will not be given guaranteed housing...so i will be placed in the lottery post april or something like that. thats as far as i know, so...any current students want to add input? should i start looking for a backup? thanx.

hello from histology class, Last yr I didn't have to apply for guaranteed housing.
Good "bump" timing! Noemi called me today with the good news! Not confident enough yet to put "UCLA 2011" in my signature yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be there with you guys in September!
I'm definitely excited enough, however, to finish every sentence I type for the rest of the day with an exclamation mark!

Congratulations! I wonder how many people that are getting into UCLA are on SDN. Didn't we all say something about a get-together at some point? *ahem* lifeisgood?
