whats up with a waitlist anyhow? lets say, you got a letter saying youve been waitlisted, but then you dont hear anything until september. now its too late to get in so do you have to reapply, do they just look at your application again, or are you automatically accepted b/c you were good enough to get in last time but there wasnt any room that year? how does it work?

If I understand your question, you're asking if you can/should re-apply to a school if you're on that school's waitlist hoping for an admission for this cycle, but wanting to get the ball rolling for the next cycle in case it doesn't work out for you this year. You can re-apply, and if you are accepted, you can withdraw your application. A problem arises if you've already matriculated at a med school and are applying for admission, but if you haven't been offered an admitted at a school, or you haven't accepted an offer of admission, then you're not matriculated so you can continue to apply. So you should apply now if you are just hoping for waitlists to come though. If one does come through, at least you had your bases covered and you're only out the cost of applying. If all your waitlists die out, then at least you've already started the application process. As for automatically being accepted in the next application cycle, that never happens. You will not be considered in the next application cycle unless you apply again, and then you will be compared to that cycle's applicants. Your probability of admission will be dependent on the strengths of your application to the other applicants that year.

hey docquaker - are you still on the drexel waitlist?
do you have any idea how many people still are? im having a hard time getting any information out of the admission ladies
 
I was at the admissions office today getting my ID badge picture taken and they told me to make sure when I show up on the first day of orientation that I sign in. If you don't sign in, they give up your spot. some people might hear something on that day or soon after if people don't show up

yeah, i'm still on the drexel waitlist. not really expecting anything since orientation is this monday (8/2). i haven't gotten any info from the admissions people either...
 
When I called about the waiting list yesterday, the lady told me that they would be accepting people until the first day of classes, which is August 9th. I asked whether there was still a lot of movement going on, and she said yes. I don't think this will ultimately help me, but hopefully some SDN'ers will be part of that movement! Good luck!
