Has anyone heard anything?

Waiting for May 21st... one more week! 🙂

In case this is helpful to anyone, my pre-med adviser has an "adviser's handbook" which states:

Wayne State's rank-ordered wait list is generally in the 250-300 zone and is totally confidential. "submission of supplementary materials is not useful," and the greatest movement off the list comes about from June 1 to August 1 (75, or so, on average, accepted after June 15).

that's sad to hear that supplementary material isn't useful since i just sent them a letter of intent... oh well. I guess anything's worth a try at this point...

I have not heard anything new the past couple of weeks. I'm on the priority list, calmly (or not) waiting to hear some good news. The information that I've been given by the folks at the admissions office is that they expect to offer seats to all of the priority list folks at some point. It's still pretty nerve racking waiting for that letter though. I plan on calling them on the 21st. By then I figure that they will be able to offer the seats vacated this week. The list is already ranked so it's really just a matter of mathematics at this point.

I'm not sure how many people are on the high priority, but there was a post awhile back... I'll try to find it for you.

Fun8... regarding your question, my stats are Mcat: 27 O, GPA: 3.88 nonscience, 3.82 science (3.85 overall)

After the third round of acceptances at the end of March, I was told that the "priority" list had "about 50" people on it. I was also told that they expct to go through the entire priority list and into the regular alternate list when all is said and done.

So I think I asked this before but did anyone else NOT know they had a HP list when they interviewed?? I am just curious because alas, I am on the regular list with a 27P 3.4 BCMP UG and 4.0 MS GPA 🙁
I think the first time I heard of it was when one of you guys who have already posted on this thread brought it up elsewhere...
in any case i am still waiting.

Benzo, did the admissions office mention how many high alternates they plan on offering admission to on May 21st out of the roughly 50? Maybe that's wishful thinking.

No. They did not tell me how many they expect to admit on the 21st. They did, however, encourage me to call on that day and added that I shouldn't get discouraged if I'm not admitted on that day. So, I get the impression that they will likely be offering some of those seats this coming Wednesday and then more later on. That's just my impression.

Yeah, I heard something about this in passing....the rumour I heard was about losing funding or something?? I could probably look it up somewhere, but if anyone wants to help me be lazy and fill me briefly on what is going on with DMC, I'd appreciate it

A question for people on the alternate list at Wayne. Do you guys remember the letter stating that you would be pulled off the list if you matriculated at any other med school? Does that mean that by simply being offered an acceptance from another school will get you kicked off the list????

I never got that letter, and I was interviewed and waitlisted since September and I have been accepted by Creighton since October...

I would think that they can't just eliminate you since another school offers you an acceptance... but I would call amcas or wayne since the acceptance process is so screwy 🙄

According to the secretary at Wayne State, they are waiting to hear back from those offered acceptances on May 21 before they make any more offers. So I suppose it would depend on how long these people were given to accept/decline the offer until more people start hearing. (Let's hope a lot decline!!!)

I would be guessing that more people will be pulled off the waitlist starting this Wednesday. May 21st offers had three weeks to accept.

Just an update:

I called the admissions office today. I asked if anyone had been pulled from the regular alternate list and the answer was "I think so."

I also asked if they're still expecting to take more people from the alternate list and the answer was "yes."

So, it seems theres still hope.
