yeah II = interview invite.

SR = secondary received
SS = secondary submitted
II = interview invite
IA = interview attended (don't get confused with institutional action)
R = rejection
WL = waitlisted
WD (or W) = withdrew
A = accepted

So Roman numerals aren't used.

Who the hell uses all those abbreviations?

They're mostly common on MDapps profiles

It must have been really confusing seeing people get IIs in Jan/Feb or worrying about having few/no IIs late in the cycle lol

Since I'm fairly new, everyone was saying it every post I saw. I felt too embarrassed to ask here so I just looked it up and found out eventually.

LOL this was so cute
thanks for the chuckles

your mileage may vary, meaning you may get a different experience from something than someone else.

Thank you for making this post, I had no idea either lol

If it makes you feel any better, before I finally cracked and googled this abbreviation I read it in my head as "Your move my voove." I have absolutely no idea what that was supposed to mean lol

I think most people think II means secondary received... I didn't realize it was interview invite until I actually began applying and was in school-specific threads. Intuitively when we see "II" online we think roman numerals. 2 = second = secondary.

Should be a sticky with all the abbreviations. I also thought it was a secondary when I first looked here. But maybe II should be secondary since literally everyone makes the same mistake?

Or alternatively, ii for interview invite?

It's not my fault the Romans couldn't figure out a well-defined mapping from the set of Arabic numerals to Roman numerals. :laugh:

that's another reason why Roman numerals shouldn't be used as app cycle references 😉

speaking of which, if II was initially thought to be secondary, what does I stand for? Primary? i guess i could see that making sense since primary refers to everything about myself. seems vague though

Don't worry OP, I thought that too for the longest time.

I also didn't know that "smh" meant "shake my head" for years. I thought it was just a sound you make if something disappoints you, since that was the context it was used in. Like "psh", but "smh"...

jt barrett didn't get the first down :nono:

I beg to differ

Yesterday was the first time I discovered that TLDR means too long didn't read haha.

It took me a bit to realize "imho" wasn't just someone forgetting the space between two words...it never made sense
