Well I'm wondering if I might even have to wait until Monday. This is not healthy for my nerves!! But I believe the sad news has been coming by snail mail so...I have high hopes I think!? :xf: Ahhhh the anticipation!!

i really don't think they would call anything other than acceptances. seriously, can you imagine that phone call if they called to notify rejections! not to mention, how long that many would take and how they would be horrible.

That's my thought, but obviously I want that official confirmation haha

I got the call today.. I WAS ACCEPTED! I am still in shock. 😱

So...I just interviewed today, so I don't know how much of this is because of my nerves right now, but...
Did anybody else keep going through the interview in their head and wished they could answer things differently and kinda wish they could re-do the interview? I feel like I was just so nervous and talking so fast that I was saying the first thing that came to mind, and it seems now like the answers were a little jumbled or out of order. The interviewers told me that I did great, but I don't know if that's something they tell everyone...
Sorry for the long message...just freaking out a bit after seeing so many people relieved when their interview was over, yet I'm still freaking out.
This is going to be a looooong wait :scared:

I know it's hard, but this seems to be pretty normal! I remember driving away from my Davis interview feeling completely numb and thinking I blew my one and only chance, but I was just being hard on myself. As more time goes on, I feel like you get more comfortable with how things went. While I'm not in, I am the first spot on the waitlist and things are looking good.

I've read numerous posts on here where someone thought they did horrible, only to get an acceptance. There's no good that can come from beating yourself up! Just wait to hear back (easier said than done).

Things to keep in mind:
-They may be judging you for traits other than exactly what is said - such as, "How do they carry themselves? How do they think through situations? How well spoken are they? How well can they communicate a thought? Did he/she learn anything from their experiences/school/whatever?..etc" So, even if you feel like you said something off - they may have been look at something else anyways.
-It is hard to judge yourself accurately! Look at old threads like these to see what I mean:

-Your interview is only ONE NUMBER they add in to your entire application score. Even if you MAY HAVE done poorly (you probably did better than you thought though!).. your other positive factors on your application can override it in the end.
-Your impression of the interview will change over time - You are probably only remembering the bad aspects right now, Try to think of ways to improve yourself for future interviews and then immediately move on from it. Try not to over analyze it !

That is my advice. I said some ODD STUFF in my interview (I was talking about how upset I made some clients.. and then never really concluded my story in a positive way. It was almost like I was just complaining about the clients or something !! ugh!) - But, I got accepted!! So, try not to stress too much and good luck! :luck:

Thanks for the response! Yeah, definately easier said than done! It's good to know that there are people who feel the same way that were either accepted or high up on the waitlist 🙂 Good luck to you :luck:

Thank you guys for helping me feel a little bit better....you're probably saving my sanity right now  Those threads are definately helpful too economic...I think I'll go back and read through them when I'm really beating myself up about the interview!
And, I hope it is a good sign, boilermaker 🙂 I think my heart might just stop if I get a call from a 614 area code in the next few weeks

Oh my gosh this. I walked out being thinking, "everyone was really nice and I was really comfortable talking to them so hopefully that showed." And then for the rest of today I would keep randomly thinking about how I answered questions and how I should have added something to pretty much every question they asked me, and now I'm just getting progressively more worried. :X

Good luck everyone!

Hi guys! Do people bring guests to the dinner the night before? I don't want to be the only one with my parents lol

I brought my dad! Most students my interview weekend brought parents or siblings. Some people even brought boyfriends. Heck, at my Iowa interview someone brought their dog into the interview room. You will be fine bringing your parents!

Hi guys! Do people bring guests to the dinner the night before? I don't want to be the only one with my parents lol

I don't think I saw that many people with parents, but I think there were some? Maybe someone else will remember better than I do.

i'd say the great majority brought someone to the dinner the night i went.

I was wondering that too! But I just figured it was probably pretty common, so my dad's coming with me to the dinner and everything else! Lucky us having the last interview day... hopefully they saved some seats for us with all these acceptances they've been sending out recently! 🙂

Thank you so much guys! Dovelover I feel the same way haha. I keep thinking that I hope there's space for us last interviewees. Congrats to all of you that have been accepted though! So exciting :]

There were a lot of people who brought parents with them both days, but there were also a lot of people who didn't...so whether you bring someone or you don't, I don't think you'll be the only one! My advice, do whatever you are more comfortable with 🙂

I refused to believe it was true until I saw it in writing, but they changed my status on the app page! I am going to be a BUCKEYE!!!! 😍😍😍

Congrats!! So you're definitely choosing Ohio State then?

Just checked and mine has changed too!

I still have to hear back from a couple schools and interview at Auburn, but OSU is my top choice!! So I am 99% sure I'll be there! What about you??

I swear it changes every day! And I have a few schools that didn't have interviews that ive never visited before so i think ill have a couple more trips before i make my ultimate decision (if i get acceptances to those of course). Purdue is my IS and has always been my dream but this entire process has made me open my eyes and realize there are so many wonderful places to go! Everywhere has their pros and cons and I think I would be happy anywhere! You can count on me making some comparison charts in the next couple weeks...gotta love being an ocd nerd 🙄

I just got my acceptance call!!! Omg I can't believe this is happening! :soexcited:

Im like 90% certain ill end up at the ohio state so im already thinking about my next steps to get there. So how are you guys finding housing? Im an oos' er and wondering what other peeps are doing! Also, in order to gain residency by the time second year starts, how long does this process take to start counting the days? Is it move-in day? Totally clueless.

Does anyone else check their application status page a few times a day *just in case* it gets updated before receiving a call/email/letter? The closer "mid february" gets the more anxious I'm getting! I want to be a buckeye!

Yes, Stb1473, I check mine at least 5x a day. It seems like they're sending out quite a few for it not even being February yet. I wonder how many more they have left...

Yes I check it at least once a day too 🙄

Glad I'm not alone! It does seem like a lot of people have gotten a spot already - Congrats to all of you!

Hopefully there's enough room for all of us left! 🙂 :xf:

Sorry I'm a little late to the party...I, too, am *cough* impatiently *cough* waiting for some news from Ohio State! I know they said mid-late February, but seeing so many people getting acceptance calls is making me more anxious :scared: And, although I understand that there is probably a small number of all us applicants here on SDN, does it seem like there are more OOS than IS getting acceptance calls?

I think I just lost the password to my portal, and don't want to call them to reset it and seem too overeager, especially since I haven't gotten in yet. :<

So if we haven't heard yet, does anyone know if we FOR SURE won't hear until mid feb, or they'll just keep calling a few people every day?

Isn't there a way to reset your password without calling?

At my interview day they made it sound like only a few select people would hear right after their interview and then the majority of acceptances will go out shortly following the interviews on February 9th. (which is a week from today...Eek!)

They're making me answer security questions, but they're all really weird ones that I don't remember ever responding to.

Try not to worry too much. I got all freaked out that everyone else was getting calls and I hadn't heard anything, but eventually I got word that I was in. Last year it seemed that the OOSers were much more likely to get a call than ISers were, so just hang tight and hopefully you get good news when the mass acceptance emails go out.

Hello Everyone! Long time lurker here, but I was just accepted to OSU! The doctor I work for told me I should find out some information before choosing schools. Does anyone know, or any current students, have any information on the attrition rates at OSU? Does the program typically lose a lot of students?

Also, I was an A student in undergrad (some B's) but I know vet school will be a completely different story. I heard if you make a C- in any class at OSU, you are automatically kicked out of the college... is that true? Does it happen often? Thank you for all of your help!

Attrition rates at OSU are very low. I am a first year and we have only lost one student so far and not far academic reasons (decided it wasn't for her). I think ordinarily, to lose 3-4 (out of 162) is a lot.

I'm not so sure about your 2nd question. I do know that we have a student in our class who failed a course last year and is repeating this year, so I don't think it's a hard and fast rule.

I think last years class lost 8-9, but not all of them were due to academic reasons and I think 2 are in our class now, so technically they lost 6-7 out of 162. Out of those, I bet only 1-2 were for academic reasons. You must maintain I believe a 2.0 and if you get less than 65% you must retake a course. I believe that is the rule, but I could be mistaken. I have heard that if you do fail a course, you must retake not only the class that you got less than 65% but any class that you got less than a C in. That may be where the if you get a C- you have to retake it came from. So, that's not exactly correct from what I understand, but if you do fail a course, then yes, you'd have to retake all the C- courses as well as if you get less than a 2.0 you'd have to retake any C-s. I feel that vet school is tough, but definitely manageable, as long as you put the effort in, there is no reason you'd fail anything or have to retake any courses.

I've been a long time lurker but finally decided to create an account to meet some of my future classmates. I'm very excited to be a member of the OSU CVM class of 2017. Has anyone made a facebook page so we can all connect? Also, is anyone looking for a roommate? I'll have a cat who gets along with dogs and cats

Congrats! So exciting to see the class of 2017 forming 🙂.

They sent out mass acceptances via e-mail last year? So you don't necessarily get a phone call if you are accepted? Ugh, I wish I just knew already, so my nerves can take a little break! I know, I know try not to worry too much, but that is so much easier said than done  I just want to get the ball rolling so I have an idea of where I'm going to be come fall...sorry for the mini freak out :scared: 🙄

Last year, yes, they sent out a bunch of email acceptances on the same day. Even then there was one set then 2 or 3 days later another one, so keep the hope alive, I know it's easier said than done (I think I had the longest wait ever over 50 days last year and I was going crazy, but eventually got my acceptance), but try and relax and enjoy your freedom. If you get in then this time next year you'll be like wish I had enjoyed that time. Good luck.

I'm at 47 days now! I think I'm starting to lose hair! :xf:

Ok, Thanks for the info! And I'll try to relax 😉

I know how hard it is guys, but hang in there, no news really is good news it means they're still considering you. I recommend finding something to keep your mind occupied, I did like 20 puzzles during the last 2 weeks of my wait because I was driving myself insane waiting and stalking the mailman and checking my email like 500 times a day!

Thanks for the advice! I've been obsessively painting my nails recently and I blame it entirely on this waiting process haha

Whatever works for you. It's tough, but when you finally find out your in it is amazing, and looking back on it now I am like I totally should have enjoyed myself then! I know it's not possible, but really truly looking back you will wish you had enjoyed every moment of freedom. Once you start, you'll be spending 8 hours in class and several more hours each night studying, trust me you will wish you had more free time.
