Wow that’s pretty high! That makes me feel a bit better. Do you have any idea why they don’t send out alternate offers until after the 15th? I would assume IS people would be rejecting their offer before then.

I’m not sure why they don’t call anyone until after the 15th. Maybe so they can just call a bunch of people at once? Instead of spreading it out? Who knows honestly lol
 
In the 30s on the waitlist. So not rejected, but basically rejected

Because they always over accept the class (all vet schools do) and won’t know how many seats they have for sure until the commitment deadline.
 
Congrats y’all! I’ll be on clinics next year, but always around if anyone needs anything. Hardest four years, but such a fun time, too. It goes SO fast, be warned!

I’m in state but I didn’t see anywhere in the email that it said there’s separate IS and OOS waitlists. Is that just assumed?

I’m #13 on the alternate list (again, I’m IS). Does anyone know the likelihood of being accepted?

I was assuming this, but I’m not 100% sure. I will call and ask unless someone on here knows 👍
 
According to Facebook someone called and they said “I just called and there are two separate lists for IS vs OOS. There are 25 seats on the IS list. Last year they got to #15. Other years they have gone all the way through so it just depends. “

Someone a few posts above called and asked admissions - they said there’s two separate waitlists. I think you have a decent chance, don’t give up! I’ve been told they regularly take 8-10 off the in state list, and last year they went 15.

SAME!!!! This was my first time applying to Ohio but knowing that this is actually happening hasn’t fully sank in yet!!! This was my third cycle of applying to vet school

Oh my gosh, I was an intern at Ohio State last year and we had two 4th year students who were twins! That's so crazy! Good luck to your sister!!

I feel the same way. This was my first time applying and after reading how difficult it was to get into vet school for so many it makes you think that the first go around is practice for the 2nd cycle. It’s hard to describe that feeling you get when u get that acceptance letter!!!

Are there any students who use the iPad Pro instead of the iPad Air? Currently debating between the two since i like the Pro's bigger screen and storage size but don't know how realistic it is to carry that around etc. Thanks!!
 
@bbmeow29 I have the regular sized pro because when I started, the pro was the only IPad compatible with Apple Pencil. I have friends with the large pro. I can see it being nice for split screening, but honestly there’s still stuff I need my computer for anyway. I would invest in more storage and a cheaper overall iPad IMO since they can now all be used with Apple Pencil.

I think anywhere, it says we can opt to purchase from the tech dept for a discounted price and because the dept is on campus

I bought mine from the apple store in Columbus. They usually have a student deal of some sort over the summer.

I remember students mentioning that there is a partnership with the Columbus zoo. What exactly would we get to do hands on at the zoo and when is this opportunity available to students?

I would assume this opportunity is through the Zoo Club, so if you’re interested in that aspect of vet med, I would definitely join! There’s also an exotics club and an aquatics club to go along similar interests. There’s a ton of clubs for pretty much any interest! Make sure to sign up for the intro lunch lectures at the beginning of the year (free food!).

I actually have quite a few but here is a smaller list of questions 🙂
1) when does hands on experience begin? I know some universities start year 1 and that is extremely attractive to me!
2) Do you guys use lecture capture for all classes?
3) Are there any study abroad opportunities?

1) As of this year, first years have a clinical skills class every week, so hands-on experience starts from the beginning.

2) all classes are lecture-captured

3)There are. There’s a Thailand trip every year and also other things. I’m not an expert in this but I have several classmates who have gone on trips.

I’m really excited about Ohio’s clinical skills facility. Was sooo bummed we weren’t able to see it on our tour :arghh:

Ok keep in mind the clinical skills lab was not open when I was a first year, but here’s a general idea. You typically are at school in class/labs from 8-5. Exams are most often on either Monday or Friday, with some others sprinkled in during the week. Then there’s club lunch lectures and wet labs throughout the semester as well.

First semester is a lot of 8-5 days. Second semester a little shorter days but still long. Currently the first years have clinical skills labs on mondays and anatomy lab on Tuesday and Thursday. Usually exams on Mondays and sometimes Fridays.

You get used to it. Friends make it better. Their was no first year clinical skills class when I went through, so I imagine that helps a lot too.

thank goodness, you make it sound much not manageable than other students did lol Do you happen to know how many hours of lab on those days?

Of course it’s manageable. If I can do it, you can do it🙂 Thats not to say vet school isn’t hard, but most things worth doing usually are. In general, I think I’m much less jaded then a lot of people and really have enjoyed vet school for the most part.

typical anatomy lab day is lecture for an hour or so in the morning and then dissecting in the anatomy lab until lunch.
