I’m not sure how many are sent at once, but I checked last year’s OSU thread and they send out invites and rejections in a few waves. They’re also not alphabetical or mean anything in regards to application standing. It’s pretty random it seems. Last year the times for waves were 8:30 am, 12 pm, and 5 pm. If it’s still the same I would expect something again around 5 pm? But we’ll see. Maybe it’s different this time around!

That makes me feel so much better! I was sitting here waiting and refreshing like why have I received NOTHING?!

I called because I also received nothing OOS. Admissions told me it basically means that we haven’t been rejected but haven’t been offered an interview at this time. So basically interview waitlisted. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

do you know if we will receive an email or anything indicating that?

I think that‘s a good idea. I wish we received some sort of notification so we knew they didn’t mistype our email when we’re really rejected or invited to interview. People botch the spelling of my first name, which is in my email address, all the time so I would like confirmation that I’m interview waitlisted :shrug:
 
I called as well and was told that anyone that hasn’t already received an invite or a rejection is basically waitlisted for an interview pending spots don’t get filled by others who did receive invites already. She said the deadline for their response is December 30th, so we will for sure hear something by then, but she’s hoping sometime next week.

Did you ask them to confirm your status? I didn’t think to when I was on the phone with them.
 
I also called Ohio state and confirmed those who did not receive an email today are being held in an interview waitlist. The woman I spoke to said not to expect an email today, and she was hoping to have the rest of the emails sent by the 23rd, but she couldn’t tell me if they would for sure have all emails sent out by then. I asked about the status of my application, and she told me where I approximately stood and that it really depends on the amount of people today who accept/decline their interview invites on how many more invites they send.

Edit to add: she also said they had an increase in applications, with almost 1900 applicants, and they send out approximately 500 interview invites.

how many applicants did they have last year? that seems like a large increase

Thank you for this info! It’s super helpful and has eased my stress some! Nice to know I still have hope!

And though I fully acknowledge it was stated to not expect an email today, I will 100% be refreshing my email every 8 seconds.

LOL me too. I’m still holding onto the hope that maybe, just maybe, they’ll send them out in waves!

I did not. I have been receiving all other emails from them so I didn’t feel I needed to.
 
Also new to the thread! IS interview invite! I got mine a few minutes before noon today. I heard they had a large increase in applicants - when I did a mock interview at the vet school they said almost 2k this year.
 
1900!! I feel like that's a ton of applicants.

I didn't receive an email today so I'm kind of hopeful. I wonder how many people are on the interview waitlist and how likely it is to get an interview or not.

I applied last year and I believe the number was around 1700ish. So there has been a steady increase in applicants (to all schools, not just tOSU)

Nope! Dinner is not mandatory. I recommend it though! I’ve heard a lot of people say it eased their worries and it’s a great way to connect with students and faculty, and help decide if OSU is where you want to go.

Nope but you should go if you can. You sit at a table with other students interviewing as well as current students at the school. They usually do a faculty panel as well. The food is usually good and it’s fun and really does a lot to help ease nerves🙂
 
Just curious for the welcome dinner at interviews is it normal to bring parents? Is it better to go by yourself?

My parents are coming! They let you bring up to 4 people for a reason - a ton of people bring spouses, siblings or parents. Sorta a way for the whole family to see what it’s all about. It’s totally normal to bring family.
 
What attire should we wear for the dinner? I know I’m outnumbered here, but for a guy in particular? Should we dress business professional?

Business casual is fine. I’m not a guy, but I wore a nice blouse/slacks 🙂
 
So like a button down shirt and a tie (maybe a sweater over it) with khakis is fine? Tyia
 
OOS invite! I'll be interviewing in the morning session on Jan. 18th! Anyone on this thread have any interview tips?
