My interview really felt like a Good cop, Bad cop situation. My questions were behavioral asking me to elaborate on one of the situations in my supplemental app. Then the rest of the interview seemed focused on how I went from an undergrad in computer science to veterinay medicine.

I honestly walked way from the interview feeling like I just wasted a $300 plane flight.

But I got in. So miracles do happen.

Wow, congratulations! I too graduated with a degree in computer science, and am now pursuing vet medicine. Glad to know I'm not alone! What kind of questions did they ask about your transition from computer science to veterinary medicine?

Kind of the expected "Why veterinary medicine over computer science?" and then "How did you decide on veterinary medicine?.... what was that one point in time you said to yourself 'I want to be a veterinarian.' "

There are actually a bunch of us on here who graduated with degrees in computer science. You would be like the 4th one that I can seem to remember being on here. To be fair all the pre-vet prerequisites were a joke compared to prog-lan or op-sys or any of my other senior CS classes.

Anyone get any Ohio news today? Seems like yesterday was "mid-January" and today has gone back to early january limbo...

Nope. It seems to me like they accepted who they're going to accept yesterday, but ri says they aren't done, so.... *shrugs*

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed lack of calls today on this forum. I am still awaiting and disappointed. I did get a survey email from OSU today though to report my satisfaction with process. One questions stated if I had been denied, did I use the consultation services to which I answered yes I would have done so but I am not aware of my status. Is this some sort of sign? heh heh Well, I guess tomorrow is another day.

Oh, and also, I thought Dean Sanders said that we could call and bug them about our status. Not sure if I heard that correctly because I kind of want to bug them, but then again I don't want to be the only one doing so.

I was so excited for a millisecond when I got the survey e-mail - I saw Amber Cassell's name and was like NEWS and then...survey....

Tommorrow feels like it is going to be an awesome day!! 👍

I didn't get an email survey. Now I can commence wondering if that's a good or bad sign thus continuing my reign of over analyzing every tiny little bit of information that I hear.

Sorry to worry you overanalyzers (I know about that as I am one myself). I hope you are right about that good day tomorrow, tpad.

I didn't get one either. I swear they do this to torture us. I bet they are all on here reading and pointing and laughing. "Watch this guys, I'm going to send out a survey, but only to HALF of them! Let's see how much they freak out!" LOL!!!!

Eqsci, I feel like you and I are riding on the same vet school freakout train! haha

Ohh...I have my ticket for that train as well!

I just checked the email but found no survey. I wouldn't worry too much. From what I can remember, Dr. Sander said it could take up to a couple of months before some are accepted. Remember, no news is good news (but I definitely understand being impatient).

Hm, she told us that they were doing everything as quickly as possible and hoped to everything done by the end of January - but I guess that is a few weeks yet.

LOL bunnyslippers!! I don't doubt it!

I called Amber today and she said the last interviews were this past Saturday and the admissions committee began meeting yesterday or today (can't remember which). She said the decisions should be done by the end of the month.

Thanks for the info c0bester. Just wondering if you knew if they would continue to call pple as decisions were made or just leave it all up to mail now?

anyone receive news from osu today? it's driving me crazy! i am still home on break.... and have nothing else to do but check this forum every five minutes!

Has anyone gotten a rejection phone call from Ohio? During my information session the dean said that those people who they definitely do not want would get a phone call in a few days, but it seems like no one has been flat out rejected yet. This paranoia is driving me insane. 😕

Nothing here..it too is driving me insane!!! It seems that the calls have stopped for now. I guess we are in that 80% pending area of the bell curve...

I got an acceptance phone call today, so I will be seeing many of you this fall!

I'm just so excited!! 😀

Good luck to everyone! :luck:

Go rachroo!!! So exciting!!!! Just curious, what time did they call you? (So I know when to obsess most each day...lol)

:highfive:

Wow rachroo, awesome news!!! Congrats!!

YAY! Congrats Ranchroo!

Thanks everyone!! I hope to see some of you all in the fall! 🙂

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in thus far and good luck to everyone else!! :luck::xf:

(tpad, I PM'd you!)

Congrats rachroo! Talk about a huge relief eh?

So, anyone going to be interested in roommates to find an apartment for the OSU area come fall?

David, I am actually in the process of finding a place to live. I would like to find two other vet school roomates. If you and anyone else is interested, let me know and we can figure out the details later.

I'd definitely be interested. I just need to wait for Florida to reject me and then I will be ready to commit to OSU. Would be good to have some other vet school roommates for the stupid things like carpooling to class. Or to make sure I dont do something dumb like forget about or sleep through an exam. 🙄 That has to be my biggest fear going into school.

With 3 people it seems like it would be able to keep the costs down fairly well. Any idea what area you would be looking for(in relation to the school)?

I was just looking at places to rent tonight, but I'm still really holding out hope for Florida...

I have my eye on a bunch of places within 15minutes of the vet school. Most fall between 8-15 minutes, which is pretty good. As for location, I am looking in the northwest/southwest area of the vet school. I have been informed to stay away from the northeast side of columbus (bad part of town). But I am not committing to anything until I have committed roomates.

I figure if I can get 2 (at most 3) roomates, the cost would be very reasonable.

Thanks again everyone!!

Congrats rachroo! Talk about a huge relief eh?

Thanks David; congrats to you too (yes...huge sigh of relief)! We're going to be classmates!!

 Congratulations rachroo and rouxeny! And everyone else!

It is an amazing feeling, isn't it? I keep going about my day like normal, then suddenly I remember "I got accepted to vet school!" and starting grinning and dancing like a fool.

I still have two more interviews to go to, but I had a very positive experience at Ohio State, so in my mind I'm getting ready to move to Ohio!

Congratulations to everyone accepted! It is an awesome feeling and I can wait to meet all of the new OSU CVM BUCKEYES next year!

What time(s) of day did you guys get phone calls?

Okay, so I found out I'm on the waitlist, (numbered in the 80s probably). What are my chances of getting in? Don't worry about being honest, because I have to decide whether to put down several thousand dollars on a prereq. class next week based on this issue.

c0bester...real quick question...did they call you and let you know that or did you call them? I am so impatient that I think I may want to call them to see my status. Thanks!

Waitlist, hmm. Well I am sure that many people will choose to go somewhere else, so that is a plus. But, if you are indeed in the 80's somewhere, I reluctantly say that your chances of acceptance are slim. I had a friend a few years back on the waitlist (in the 30's) and she didn't get in, but things do happen.

Anyone make/plan on making an OSU CVM Class of 2013 Facebook group?

Haha, I second that nomination!

EDIT: Opps, Bcrunner...we submitted our response @ the exact same time...so I guess I third that nomination!

Your a resident too, so assuming you are definitely going, why don't you start the group?

Thanks guys. Since the overwhelming nomination, I will start the group tonight. I will let all of you know when the site is up.

From my reputable inside sources 🙂 :

The OSU admissions committee has finished meeting and has made all their decisions...the official yes/no/maybe letters go out in the mail today and Monday, so if you haven't heard yet, you will know by the end of next week.

Yikes!! Exciting/terrifying!!!

So I guess that means if you haven't gotten a call or an email you weren't accepted? Do you know if there are cases where they just send an acceptance letter without a call or email?😕
