I am starting my D3 year and am putting together an application to extern at a few programs, but something that I have seen on several school's websites was that they want you to provide them with a letter of intent. In my experience letters of intent are usually reserved for your first-choice program that you have interviewed with and are currently applying to. In terms of externships, what are OS programs looking for in a letter of intent, and is it appropriate to send a letter of intent to multiple programs??

They want to know why you’re doing the externship. What you hope to get out of the experience. Kinda like a personal statement. It’s not a commitment to the program or anything like that.
