    CLINICAL PATHOLOGY – LABORATORY DIRECTOR
    The Department of Pathology at UMass Memorial Medical Center /
    University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking an outstanding individual
    to serve as the Director of our Clinical Pathology Laboratories. The Laboratory
    Director will lead our efforts in strategic planning, improving test utilization,
    developing metrics which improve patient care and outcome and in clinical
    pathology informatics. The UMass Core Laboratory performs 6 million tests / year,
    has 212 FTE’s and has recently installed a Beckman Power Express automation
    line. The Laboratory Director will also serve as the Chemistry Scientific Director
    for our affiliated Quest Diagnostics Laboratory in Marlborough and play an
    essential role in our CP residency program.
    We are seeking an M.D. or Ph.D. with administrative experience and board
    certification in clinical pathology or clinical chemistry. The successful candidate
    will have a proven interest in clinical and translational research and resident /
    fellow teaching. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

    CLINICAL PATHOLOGIST / HEMATOLOGY
    The Department of Pathology at UMass Memorial Medical Center /
    University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking an outstanding individual
    to be responsible for the scientific and technical direction of the Hematology
    Laboratory at UMass Memorial Medical Center and at our affiliated Quest
    Diagnostics Laboratory in Marlborough. The Department has an active residency
    program and a Hematopathology Fellowship.
    Candidates must be board certified / board eligible in Clinical Pathology and
    Hematopathology. The successful applicant will have expertise in coagulation,
    hemoglobinopathy interpretation, flow cytometry and a proven interest in clinical
    and translational research and resident / fellow teaching. Academic rank and
    salary will be commensurate with experience.

    The University of Chicago's Department of Pathology invites applications for a faculty member and Vice Chair of Pathology for Research and Academic Affairs. The position will report directly to the Chair of Pathology and will assist in recruiting and retaining research faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research laboratory, mentor junior faculty as they acquire external funding, support and expand translational research with clinical faculty and trainees, encourage collaborative research with other departments at the University of Chicago, and advise the Chair on promotion and retention of faculty. Candidates must possess an MD, PhD, or foreign equivalent degree, have a track record of substantial funding, and must qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.     Anatomic Pathologist - San Diego, Boston or Chicago, Medical Device Company

    Primary responsibilities will be to:


    · Provide medical insight to the development of design specifications; medical expertise to regulatory submissions; participation in meetings with regulators (e.g. FDA); review of marketing and promotional materials.

    · Provide medical expertise to device risk analyses, health hazard evaluations (HHE), adverse event review, and risk/benefit reports on behalf of new product development programs and on-going (post-market) surveillance activities.

    · Support the sales team in peer-to-peer interactions with actual and potential customers by providing medical and technical information, in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.

    · Support the growth of company’s Pharmaceutical Partnerships business through cultivation of peer-to-peer relationships within pharmaceutical companies.

    · Play an integral role in building company’s brand as a thought leader; actively participate in planning and provision of training for external medical/scientific speakers and members of product sales teams.

    · Provide medical insight into new product development and innovation opportunities, actively participating in prioritization of opportunities based on clinical value.

    · Actively participate in review of cases and results as part of product development and assay validation.



    Required Skills/Experience



    · A deep understanding of/experience with laboratory medicine and anatomic pathology. Must have M.D. degree with American Board of Medical Specialties certification in an appropriate specialty (anatomic and clinical pathology, preferred).

    · Molecular tissue pathology experience is required.

    · Experience in risk management/safety assessments in the medical devices industry is desirable.

    · Successful experience in advocating and advancing in vitro diagnostic products

    · History of planning and participating in global medical advisory boards and managing relationships with external experts.

    · Prior interactions with regulatory agencies on pre- and post-market issues.

    · Team player with executive presence and demeanor coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Education List of Education, Certifications, Training

    MD degree with 5+ years of experience post-training, preferably with at least 2 years in the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry or within a clinical reference laboratory, or Academia.



    Academic and research experience is highly desirable, along with a track record of publications in relevant areas



    Prefer board certification in anatomic and/or clinical pathology, with subspecialty certification in molecular pathology, hematopathology or breast pathology
