    CLINICAL PATHOLOGY – LABORATORY DIRECTOR
    The Department of Pathology at UMass Memorial Medical Center /
    University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking an outstanding individual
    to serve as the Director of our Clinical Pathology Laboratories. The Laboratory
    Director will lead our efforts in strategic planning, improving test utilization,
    developing metrics which improve patient care and outcome and in clinical
    pathology informatics. The UMass Core Laboratory performs 6 million tests / year,
    has 212 FTE’s and has recently installed a Beckman Power Express automation
    line. The Laboratory Director will also serve as the Chemistry Scientific Director
    for our affiliated Quest Diagnostics Laboratory in Marlborough and play an
    essential role in our CP residency program.
    We are seeking an M.D. or Ph.D. with administrative experience and board
    certification in clinical pathology or clinical chemistry. The successful candidate
    will have a proven interest in clinical and translational research and resident /
    fellow teaching. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

    Anatomic Pathologist - San Diego, Boston or Chicago, Medical Device Company

    Primary responsibilities will be to:


    · Provide medical insight to the development of design specifications; medical expertise to regulatory submissions; participation in meetings with regulators (e.g. FDA); review of marketing and promotional materials.

    · Provide medical expertise to device risk analyses, health hazard evaluations (HHE), adverse event review, and risk/benefit reports on behalf of new product development programs and on-going (post-market) surveillance activities.

    Required Skills/Experience



    · A deep understanding of/experience with laboratory medicine and anatomic pathology. Must have M.D. degree with American Board of Medical Specialties certification in an appropriate specialty (anatomic and clinical pathology, preferred).

    · Molecular tissue pathology experience is required.

    · Experience in risk management/safety assessments in the medical devices industry is desirable.

    · Successful experience in advocating and advancing in vitro diagnostic products

    · History of planning and participating in global medical advisory boards and managing relationships with external experts.

    · Prior interactions with regulatory agencies on pre- and post-market issues.

    · Team player with executive presence and demeanor coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Prefer board certification in anatomic and/or clinical pathology, with subspecialty certification in molecular pathology, hematopathology or breast pathology

    Our client is looking for 3 AP/CP Board certified Pathologists for two different hospital based practices located in the South and the Southeast.

    Two positions are with a group located in a charming and well known city in the South. Both positions require AP/CP Board certification;


    a. The first position requires fellowship training in GI pathology.

    b. The second requires fellowship training in Cytopathology and an interest/or experience in Pulmonary Cytology is preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: a) Review, interpret, and sign out cytogenetic/molecular results for clinical case reports, b) Handle day-to-day problems and provide consultative assistance to other health care providers, c) Ensure correct testing is offered for the stated diagnosis, d) Investigate and implement new procedures andinstrumentation, e) Coordinate with the Supervisor for laboratory management (budget, purchasing, policies, procedures, equipment, etc.), f) Coordinate with the Supervisor for technologist training and competency, g) Provide instruction for residents, fellows, medical and med tech students, h) Serve on appropriate committees, panels and education programs, i) Eligible to obtain or maintain C of Q in Cytogenetics or Genetic Testing (limited to Molecular) and other permit categories for NYS Dept. of Health, j) Maintain laboratory accreditation for DNV, NYS DOH, CALGB, and COG, k) Review quality control, survey and inspection data, l) If credentialed in molecular testing, assume similar responsibilities for the Molecular Diagnostics Lab in the absence of its Director. Minimum Qualifications MD, DO or PhD in genetics, Molecular Biology or related field, certification or eligibility for certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genetic Testing (limited to Molecular) and Oncology (Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers) by the New York State Department of Health, which requires a minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience, including 2 years of experience in clinical cytogenetics. Board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics (ABMGG or comparable board) is preferred. *Candidates may be considered at a different title and salary based on qualifications.

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the SUNY Upstate Medical University invites applications for a full time academic appointment with clinical responsibilities in the Clinical Chemistry division of Clinical Pathology. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the teaching, service, and research missions of the Department. Clinical responsibilities will include sharing in the medical direction of the clinical chemistry laboratories.     The Medical Director assumes responsibility for direction and technical operation of the laboratory, including adherence to the department quality control standards and training of personnel performing testing.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Ensure standard operating procedures and processes are in place that allow for the highest quality and compliant services within the laboratory.
    • Accountable for performance of all tests carried out in the laboratory, adherence to the department's quality assurance standards for such tests, and accurate reporting of the test results.
    • Develops and establishes measures to improve the quality of services provided by the laboratory.
    • Participates in departmental Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities.
    • Coordinates with all applicable regulatory and accreditation organizations to ensure proper licensure and accreditation for the laboratory.
    • Relate and function effectively with applicable accreditation and regulatory agencies, the medical community and the patient population served.
    • Ensures sufficient staffing of qualified personnel is present in the laboratory, in conjunction with laboratory operations management team.
    • Works with related parties to define, monitor and improve quality, efficiency and communication of laboratory services through the evaluation of methods, performance and quality and by recommending and implementing changes.
    • Provide clinical lab consultation services to physicians and lab technologists as needed.
    • Effectively interact and communicate with the laboratory operations management team and laboratory personnel to ensure optimal coordination of specimen processing and testing.
    • Effectively interact and communicate with other departments in the organization (e.g. Sales, IT, Legal, HR, Billing, Client Services) to help achieve corporate goals and improve the overall performance of the organization.
    • Develops and provides educational direction and opportunities through development of training and continuing education programs for the medical and laboratory staff, and participates in educational programs for the laboratory as appropriate.
    • Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the laboratory.
    • Promote a safe laboratory environment for personnel and other occupants.
    • Promote practices that are consistent with accepted ethical standards for the medical profession.
    • Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to all direct and indirect reports to maintain an engaged and productive workforce; partnering with Human Resources on employee relations issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Degree in Medicine and specialty training in Clinical Pathology required.
    • Board certification in AP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology or American Osteopathic Board of Pathology.
    • Hold or eligible to obtain unrestricted medical licensure in New York and/or New Jersey.
