One girl obviously found the light, lol... But I have to be bragging on A&M beating Texas and LSU losing to Arkansas! I wonder whats going to go down in the Bedlam game and also Mizzou vs Kansas.

Thanks guys!!! And Dadof2boys, let me know when you get your acceptance!🙂

I wanted to know when OSU started to hold interviews this year. Also, how fast are they on getting acceptance letter out? I would love to go to OSU but would be an OOS applicant as I have moved from OK to VA to finish my BS. I feel I have a good shot at VCOM but have family in the Tulsa area and was a Firefighter/P-Medic for Shawnee FD. When I talked to OSU was told I would not be an in state applicant? I know VCOM gets acceptance letters out early and would have to take the first one I get.

They start interviewing in October and you will know within two weeks of your interview if you're accepted or waitlisted through fed-ex, but a rejections comes via snail mail.

Well, back to school tomorrow🙁. [bump]

yeah, phlame is right except for if you get waitlisted or rejected it's through snail mail. the only UPS/Fedex you get is if you get accepted.

Ahh my bad, oh well i tried. Anyways I'm back here at school, but only 8 more class periods until finals... but since my school is weird, most of you only have 6....

I've got an interview at OSU on Wed. Any tips guys?

Read this thread, and read the interview feedback.

DON'T BE NERVOUS! There is NOTHING to be nervous about....you're going to have a very enjoyable day and don't make it too big of a deal in your head. I mean, it is, but they seriously just want to get to know you. I can honestly say, I had FUN the entire day, including my interview. You will see.....just DON'T BE NERVOUS. I know I could tell you that till I'm blue in the face and you're still going to be but hopefully this will re-assure you a little bit. Relax the night before. I did and it really paid off!!!! If you have any more questions, let us know!

I would say the best advice would to be yourself and don't hype yourself up. Just be laid back about the whole ordeal.

Thanks for bumping the thread. I HATE when this thing dies!!! I check it like 10 times a day and it's been really boring lately!! haha!

Well its just that alot of the hype has died now that you and a few others have been accepted.

They hype has died, still waiting for interview and trying to survive ochem

Just hang in there....it does get easier! I found that O Chem got easier and easier as I went along. Probably because you get used to the terminology and things better. I dunno. I'm just glad to never have to think about physics again. God I hate that science

I love physics would gladly trade a semester of ochem for modern physics, or thermo, or optics, or ..... anything physics based. I'm sick of reactions and naming things!

Lol I haven't taken physics yet, but I am already trying to teach it to myself and having a hard time which isnt a good sign. I have had no issues with organic, though, because it seems to make plenty of sense to me.

Gl on all the application stuff though saylor.

For those of you who are accepted are you going to live near campus? Or elsewhere? If accepted I will not live near campus I'll live around 10 min away on other side of river.

I will absolutely live in one of the small towns near Tulsa.....hell, you know what a small town girl i must be because you know my family!! 🙂 I will probably live in sapulpa or broken arrow. My boyfriend is probably gonna transfer to NSU in broken arrow to finish up his psychology degree so i bet that is where we end up

I don't know yet, I have friends on broken arrow and jenks, and also on the outskirts of the city. Depends on the housing market when it comes time for me to rent or buy.

Amen, brother! Only 4 more classes of Organic left and I'm done with it FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, not counting the final.

I completely agree with you, saylorsdad! I would take Physics ANY day of the week over any kind of Chem...especially Orgo.

Another qood question, rent or purchase a home then resell after school? I think I'll probably rent I could get a better place cheaper, and I wouldn't have to worry about upkeep someone else would have to take care of that. Also renters insurance is dirt cheap where homeowners insurance hits me in the pocket every month.

I had my interview today! Everyone was really nice. I was just going to let everyone who is still waiting for an interview know that they cancelled the ones in December (schedule conflicts with professors), so the next ones will start in January.

ouch, dont forget to post in te interview feedback area.

I did, but my questions were the same as the ones that were already posted. It was kind of strange because everyone thought they did so well. It was hard to judge how well you actually did because of the amazing poker-faced interviewers.

OH no! more waiting! Thanks for the warning. I'll stop sleeping with my phone to my ear for a few more weeks I guess!🙂

To me it's not even an option. I've saved the down payment up and thats the hard part. It's ludicrous, in my mind, to give your loan money to a landlord. Want to help eliminate a huge chunk of your debt leaving school? Buy a home and then resell it when you leave. It's the only answer that makes any sense to me. I can see that maintenance might bother some, but buy a newer home and you'll be fine. I've already contacted a couple of realtors in Tulsa and am looking at a smaller (1000-1500sqft), newer (less than 10 years old) home. I'll have it checked out by family that run a contracting outfit and go from there.

As for the interview, mine weren't pokerfaced at all.... They were friendly, but you should always judge your answers and adjust to try and get a positive reaction out of them... Some at other schools have been Nazi's, but that's certainly not the case at OSU-COM... Well gotta get back to human dissection for this quiz I'm gonna bomb.. 👍 GL all...

As for not sleeping with phone, you might rethink. I spoke to OSU yesterday and she said they would be contacting people for January interview in mid December. Prior to that I had heard early December so keep the phone close. Better yet you guys lose your phone so they will move farther down the list and call me!

Haha way to be positive to the other applicants saylor! Ahh im just messin, best of luck to all yall.

Yeah, my interviewers were really nice as well!!!! It kinda freaked me out!! Buying a house seems like a good option but I will still probably end up renting.

buying a house right now seems a bit risky with the crazy housing market. however you may be able to find a great deal on a home with someone wanting to get out from under a huge jump in interest.

No but the housing prices in oklahoma, and especially the tulsa and surrounding areas are much higher than the national average. Heard that on news 5 the other day.

I've never heard anything like that. I'd love to see a source on that because we've always been below the national average on everything I've seen or heard. I don't think we've had any crazy increases recently (and I'm in the process of selling a house and building another, so I'm aware of the current and past market).

I know folks in many other cities of various sizes and have talked with them about their houses. Housing costs in Tulsa aren't bad.

Hrmm. I think you might have heard that wrong. Tulsa has one of the cheapest costs of living and housing prices in the nation. The reason the housing bubble didn't hurt tulsa is that the houses can't really get much cheaper.

Dr Mom and Smackey are right housing is very reasonable here. We live in Owasso and it's one of the faster growing housing markets around the Tulsa area and it's not bad at all. Now Jenks is a little more expensive than some of the towns in the area but not too bad. We rented first when we got here and I'm glad we did that way we got to know our neighbors. Didn't like em so we moved, 30 days notice packed up and moved to b-e-v-e-r-l-y.

Dr. Harleyman

I saw that story on news 5. What they said was that there was actually a percentage increase in housing sales and prices in oklahoma, but I think they meant it was good because every where else in the country is suffering.

Im not saying cost of living is bad, by all means, its actually very reasonable. All I was saying is the prices of houses are a little higher than the national average.

One example of housing prices going up is my sister. She just finished building a house in august and has been living there since the beginning of september and the Tax Commission just tried (but failed due to the newness of her house) to up her taxes on her house saying that her house had increased from a value of 190,000 to 240,000 in the 3 months shes lived there.

percentage wise, Tulsa is one of the faster growing markets, BUT it's still cheaper than most other cities it's size in the nation.

I'm not seeing those above average prices. I've been looking in Earnest for about 2.5 weeks and I'm really pretty pleased overall with the prices I'm seeing.. Tulsa is one of the few markets in the nation that isn't losing alot of value property wise so that might have an affect. I'll let you know if and when I find a house. I'll post pics or details and price so others can get an idea. Probably won't be until april though...

Does anyone have any idea how many people have already been accepted to OSU? I know of three at my school.

3 that i know of, lol and a few more waiting. Remeber that OSU does interviews through april so its probably quite a few.

Well if you know them, tell them to join my OSU-COM class of 2012 facebook group!!!!! So far, we only have 13 members including myself!
