Inappropriate, definitely. Although, I have seen peope get hired who showed up to an interview in yoga pants. Generally, I believe it is best to take the conservative approach and without the lab coat.

would you rather be under-dressed for an interview or be overdressed?
I'd choose overdressed, because it means that your really serious about getting the position. It also means that you think that interview is REALLY important...even tho it can be alittle embarassing...

I don't consider that to be overdressed, more inappropriate.

Think of it this way, if you were interviewing for a job as a pharmacist, would you wear a lab coat? If a nurse is interviewing for a job, would they wear scrubs?

Work attire and interview attire are not always the same thing.

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted to get another opinion. Thanks for the reassurance. How's your semester been so far, Phathead?

If you are interviewing for a job, you should wear a dark suit, white shirt, and dark tie. No exceptions. Wearing a lab coat would just be bizarre. And first impressions are incredibly important. This is a job in a professional pharmacy, not Jim Bob's rib house. Dress like a ****ing banker.

This.👍

I think I'm just gonna go with a shirt, tie, and slacks. A suit seems a bit overdressed for a tech position. I've actually interviewed in scrubs before and got the job, but he was understanding that I was trying to leave Walgreens on the DL and knew that I would be coming straight from there to interview. Turned out to be one of the coolest bosses I've had.

Job hunting blows. I think I've applied to no less than 30 jobs in the last month since I've moved.

You know, for all the people posting on here about wanting to get INTO UoP, no one really talks about it at all. I've yet to hear even a single mention about SDN in my classes or in conversations with students. And, of course, it seems like the representation of daily posters weighs heavily on schools outside of CA. Besides myself and Chebs... Does this mean California pharmacy students simply just work harder than everyone else?

Food for thought! :corny:

No one talks about it here either unless we know each other (SHC and I). I think most people don't want anyone to know, so whether they're die hard thread jackers, or one post wonders they just don't mention it. The only time it was mentioned was when I went to a dinner with a few people in my class and one of them brought it up. They said they never would've guessed in a million years who I was. lol

Yeah, it was a nice lunch. I love turkey sandwiches. I have eaten a sandwich with a fork before too! lol....(thanks for letting me pass in line! 😀)

For service learning I did 16 hours during my first semester and 16 hours during christmas break. It was not that bad.

Good job on your first exam in Communications! 🙂 I made a 94 on my first pharmaokinetics exam. Rho Chi starts inviting people to join in the spring semester of P2 year...so I have to maintain my 4.0 to get in! I feel so PRESSURED!!!!!!!!! 😱:scared:

No prob! We're such good students hanging out in the library when we're not in class! lol I will hopefully finish my service learning and patient caring this semester so I can relax and do the IPPE before Spring Break like you said. I hope I get a nice preceptor, but I'm pretty good at getting along with wack people anyway (like the ones that no one else likes... lol). I guess I am weird. Congrats on the exam!

I still haven't really talked to too many from my class. They didn't do any get to know you type things aside from being thrown into a 6 person group for an hour.

Kinda weird

We went on a brewery tour...

Howdy people,
Long time no see. How's everyone doing? Moving sucks...and U-Haul sucks even more. Don't ever use them if you have a choice.

Quick question: would you wear your pharmacy student/intern jacket to a job interview (not an internship) after classes (over a shirt and tie)? It seems like it might be kind of tacky to me, but I dunno. We're required to wear it for some of our classes along with business casual dress underneath, and I was going to go straight to the job interview after class.

I used Budget and it was great because they do a summer special and you get a large discount. Plus we get 4 days to move and unlimited miles.

I always take my jacket off after class and hang it over my car seat so it doesn't get wrinkled if I have to go somewhere.

? A couple USC students on SDN. And some UoP students are partying too hard down in LA this week while somehow skipping out on class up at UoP lol

The first night I went out in Atlanta I got asked to be on GGW. wth :scared:

Apparently they were filming at once of the nicest spots in the city and I didn't know it until I walked in and the huge sign and bus thing was there. I told them I was a student in professional school and that would NOT be okay. lol

would you rather be under-dressed for an interview or be overdressed?

Overdressed. I used to wear business clothes to waitress interviews. I didn't care because they don't know where you are coming back from... for all they know you were at someplace more important and just didn't have time to change. lol

I should have gone with Budget. Their website was down the day I tried to make my reservation unfortunately, so I just (stupidly) made one with U-Haul. My "guaranteed reservation" was apparently only "guaranteed based on availability." WTF is that ****??? The 5 friends who had agreed to help me load the truck up weren't available by the time I got it, so I had to load most of it myself. I ended up not being able to move till 3 days after I had planned to thanks to U-Haul's shenanigans. 👎

Being in Vegas with constant great food temptations just about killed me. I worked out at hotel gym for 3 hours and ran 8 miles :scared: on Monday while there just to curb my appetite. Being healthy is so unfun when you are being dragged to incredible buffets and are surrounded by things that look like this:

I have seen this slot machine and fondly have thought of Lea 🙂:

We stayed in Paris this time, it was beautiful and I am going back in a few days 🙂:

Did you go to The Spice Market, Chebs? Best buffet I've ever been to... so good! Gourmet buffet...

No, but thanks for the tip.🙂 We went to Le village in Paris and standard Bellagio. Boring 😎 since I've been to both multiple times 🙄. I wanted to check out Wynn, but it was kind of far and our days were packed - we went to see three shows and check out an art exhibit.

Hollywood Planet huh? What were the highlights? Line is pretty long too right?

Planet Hollywood 😛

Highlights include a middle eastern buffet which I've never seen before at a buffet, really awesome service, made-to-order crepe desserts, etc.

The line being "long" is a complete under exaggeration. You have to wait in a line to wait a line, basically. Mostly because there's an escalator to go downstairs and they don't want people waiting on it, I suppose...

But yeah. Awesome place.

9 days in Vegas and I think I must've eaten at every restaurant in each casino!

Which shows?

I think the Wynn is very "meh", except 2 things: 1. The Ferrari Store, and 2. The Red 8.

I agree. Stay away from the Rio 'World Buffet'. It sucks rocks.

Make sure you check out the wax museum. Sounds stupid, but it's loads of fun with friends.

And I have a gut feeling you'll like shopping in City Center 😛

Amen, sister. They just pile it on.

Doing pharmaceutical calculations extra credit tonight. Then starts my studying for my pharmacy practice exam on Tuesday.😱 Of course I haven't even had the time to look over my immuno and biochem notes. Thank goodness for the Monday holiday.

There was another pharmacy shoot-out/attempted robbery in Sacramento. 2 armed black males stormed a Rex-All Pharmacy, and the manager and the pharmacist both pulled out rightfully-carried firearms and a huge firefight ensued. Aftermath: 1 dead technician and 1 severely injured pregnant bystander. Suspects are injured trailing blood but got away.

Gotta <3 retail. I am so getting my CCW if I practice in a retail location.

if I want to become a director of Pharmacy, would an MBA or MPH be more useful to me to get me there faster?

If we are talking chain retail = MBA

If we are talking health systems pharmacy = MPH

Although an MBA would probably suffice for both...

MPH is a new sorta trend...

I'd go the MBA route. After discussing MPH programs with people this week, I'm not sure it's a route I want to go down.

My agenda is to do nothing but sit around while watching TV and playing video games all week while the government pays me $600 a week in unemployment.

Maybe go shoot some hoops here in a bit. Mow the lawn.

Then I'll go see a movie tonight.

And then I'll go to the football game tomorrow.

And then I'll repeat all of that next week.

...

Got an interview the week after that, though. That will put a cramp in my freeloading, drain on society lifestyle.

I hate morning classes with a passion.... The only good thing about it is being able to see the sun rise. Thats it. I wake up early in the frikken morning when all my other roommates are sleeping, tired as ...n then I'm hungry, but can't eat because I have to go to the bus stop (the buses r late ALL the time, so they're unpredictable 🙄)
So pretty much I'm starving all morning, while trying to stay awake😴 in class. FML.

What movie? I would want to go see Takers, but I don't know if its going to be good...

Living alone sucks sometimes. I dunno if living in a gated area makes it worse.

I get bored a lot and feel lonely. I suppose it's better than having issues with room mates.

That's what SDN is for!

I have enough side hobbies that I didn't really get bored or lonely. Might sound cheesy, but hobbies do help

There's nothin really out there grabbin me by the booby. I'd rent Takers rather than spending $10+ to see it in a theater

Edit: took almost 3 days to get to a new page. That's gotta be a record

Go out and do something if you get bored/lonely!

But I must say living alone is pretty much my favorite thing ever. I hate roommates.

Like I said to CW, my closest neighbors are girls, and I get a little worried about having them throw things at me for knocking on their doors randomly

Or maybe pepper-sprayed 😱

Amen, brother. The problem working retail is that some companies outright forbid their employees to carry at work. Granted, better to be alive to argue the point, than dead and compliant, but it's an annoyance nonetheless.

You got a link to that story Sci?

That's actually a damn good reason not to have a CCP in a pharmacy. Its a tight enclosed area for one. And I was once held up by a methhead. Would I like to give him fairly easy access to another weapon if something went wrong?

Or what if you escalate a scared and nervous individual who was only bluffing into something where he kills innocent people?

Just seems like a bad idea.

And I know of several states which forbid firearms in healthcare facilities, of which a pharmacy is considered.

Really hopin I'm on the right bus this morning...

Is it the short one?:laugh::meanie:
C

Come World of Warcraft with me 😛
WoW... ok your nerd card is on probation

First rule of self defense is only fight if you think there is no possible way to avoid it... well actuall that's more the second rule but anyways...

What's your opinion on Jerome Ersland's actions before the second trigger pull? I think he'd be considered a hero for what he did, if he hadn't freaked out, grabbed the second gun and plugged the kid full of holes after he was already down.
