hey peeps got my 3rd interview at a DO school yesterday. I'll be at OUCOM late january and I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone out there who has interviewed at OUCOM? How was it over there? Any OUCOM med students?

I'm not doing so bad at DO schools, so far 3 out of 5 interviews is and I still have not received a response for 2 schools (New Jersey and Nova Southeastern). I haven't turned in my MSUCOM secondary yet, but I will by the end of this week....wish me luck people!

congratulations on the string of interview invites!!! now just sit back and wait for those acceptances....

I interviewed at OU-COM in August and absolutely loved it! I'll be attending the school this Fall.

The interview day is very (VERY) relaxed so try not to stress about it. I'm sure you'll be pretty relaxed since you've been to a fair number of interviews already.

In the morning, there'll be a brief presentation by the Director of Admissions (Mr. Schriner). He'll talk to you about how your day is structured, a brief history of OU-COM, curriculum options, financial aid, etc.

I don't remember the exact order of events after that, but the morning is basically spent touring the two main buildings that comprise the Osteopathic School (Anatomy lab, classrooms, simulated patient exam rooms, study areas, Learning Resources Center, computer lab...), taking mug shots (one for your application so the committee remembers you, two other shots for a class composite in case you get admitted and matriculate) and touring the surrounding campus/city in the school's minivan.

After lunch with MS1 and MS2 students, you'll have three interviews that last about 45 min each. You'll talk to an administrator, clinical faculty and science faculty (or two administrators and a clinician). The interviews are the "get to know you" conversational-type interviews.

To be successful at OU-COM it helps if (1) you're a resident of Ohio or a minority (they have a strong committment to minority applicants), (2) know why you want to be a doctor and particularly a doctor of the Osteopathic flavor and (3) not be afraid to brag about yourself and your accomplishments (without sounding arrogant, of course).

The OU-COM admissions committee members meet at the end of the day after all interviews are over and make a decision. If they decide to admit you, you'll receive an e-mail the very next day of your interview!

Good luck and let us know how it went!

Ohhh the minivan tour is new!

thanks for the info Shinken!!! that was great. I'm really looking forward to my interview there, specially because of their commitment to community medicine and primary care. I'm not an Ohio resident, so I had to sign that contract, which, by the way, I really didn't mind that much, because if OUCOM is the place for me, then OUCOM it is and Ohio will be my home for 10 years + 😀

take care you all and thanks for the kind responses!
