Hi everyone, I guess I'm just on here to vent a little bit and hear some advice on how I should proceed because I have seen everyone on here getting interviews and thus far I have received NOTHING. The main reason I'm so nervous is that I feel my stats are very, very good (4.03 sGPA, 4.07oGPA, 22TS, 22AA, 17PAT) and all my application materials were mailed out first batch. Further, I filled out all of my secondaries and paid each schools secondary fees as soon as I possibly could have and received confirmation "application under review" emails from every single school at the latest a few weeks ago. I feel I applied very broadly to some high-end, mid-level, and "lower-level" schools and I am just panicking that I won't get any interviews at all. I'm a CA resident and I applied to:

UCLA, UCSF, UOP, Western, USC, Midwestern-AZ, ASDOH, Boston U, Tufts, Temple, Michigan, Maryland, Harvard, Columbia, Penn, NYU, Louisville, and UNLV.

Thank you all so much for your help !

Don't worry dude. I haven't received anything either hahaha

Absolutely, I agree that applicants are viewed holistically as well. I feel I have pretty good (not outstanding, but IMO GOOD ENOUGH) extracurricular involvement as well. I was elected to office in an on-campus club for health professions students for 3 consecutive years, I have spent 3 years as an on-campus biology and chemistry tutor, I have ~500 hrs volunteering at an elementary school and as a youth basketball coach, and ~150 hours shadowing dentists and dental specialists.

I understand it's still early and not time to panic yet, I'm just concerned because I feel that to this point I have done everything in my power to do well in the application process and it's frustrating not seeing any benefits of that.

You will definitely get some interviews based on your numbers alone, be patient, they will come soon.

4.0+ GPAs always make me question the rigor of an academic program.

Read any number of other threads on this exact same subject. You are not unique. Panic in October, not today.

I am also having a slightly rocky cycle. I have a stats that are very similar to yours, and also have good EC involvement. The only area of my app in which I feel I am really lacking is research--I have none.

I also applied first batch. I have two interviews, but two schools have skipped over me entirely that have already started giving out interviews--one of those being my state school.

I have faith it will be okay, though! I already have two interviews at AWESOME schools, and I am psyched. I really think you will get some soon; honestly, it doesn't seem like that many interviews have been shelled out at this point. And, for the schools who didn't invite me, I just figure maybe they are looking for something else in an applicant. The same thing might happen to you, but it'll be okay. You can't please everyone, you know? It can be somewhat unsettling to know you did everything you could to be a desirable applicant and it not seem to always pay off at the beginning... I really think we will all be fine, though, and it will all work out. Nobody said it would be easy... or stress-free! It's hard to have patience, but I think we should all sit back and just not try to worry about things we cannot change at this point.

Best of luck to you! You've worked hard. I know it will pay off. 🙂

just relax. you said it yourself, you've done everything in your power in this app cycle so stop worrying. Being worried will not send signals to schools to have pity on you.

now why don't you go and do something distracting and fun? like watching orange is the new black 🙂

Perhaps the school's didn't like what they read in your supplementary essays / personal statement?

Who knows? This cycle is crapshoot, but I'm sure with your stats, you'll get a couple pre-dec interviews

Don't worry about the research. Unless you're wanting to get into a research school like UW or Harvard

I mean I did just book Kaskade, Calvin Harris, Porter Robinson, and Ice Cube in Vegas for Labor Day Weekend so not all is bad after all.
