Hello everyone,
I have opened this thread for people who are preparing for their part 2 and who wish to share their education with others.
Its open to discussion of topics, questions, and and their importance.
lets help one another and beat the test.
Good luck

Electric pulp testing is most reliable, though it uses nerve stimulation.
Cold tests are indicative of a vital pulp, but do not indicate the normality of it. they are preffered in full coverage crown cases.
Ethyl chloride is usually used.
Any other input or anyhting else we should know under this topic?

Non narcotic analgesics
ASPRIN:
anti inflammatory action
mild to moderate pain
CI in allergic patients, gastric ulcers, anti coag therapy, anti neoplastic chemotherapy, diabetics and gouty arthritis.

ACETAMINOPHEN:
no anti inflammatory action

lower side effects than asprin
recommended for children, available in liquid form

PROPIONIC ACID DERIVATIVES:
Naproxen and Ibuprofe
naproxen-long lasting effect
Ibuprofen is more effective.
Not to be used in pt's with asprin intolerance and gastirc ulcers.

Narcotic analgesics:

mucocele of the palate is rare(usually found on lips)
nasopharyngeal carcinomas show altered palatal contours.
Metastatic cancers show affected cervical lymph nodes
Lymphoma of palate is uncommon, but not rare. extra nodal palatal lymphomas are diffuse and boggy on palpation.
Palate is most frquent site for salivary gland tumors.(Pleomorphic adenomas, mucoepidermoid carcinomas etc)
most common salivary gland malignancy is Mucoepidermoid carcinoma.(fluctuant, mucus filled cystic space)
