part-time or shared IM residency

Hi,
Anyone here doing this? I already searched Frieda and sent emails but the responses have been lukewarm.
Thanks!

Why would you want to spend 6 years trying to finish IM? Plus I have no clue how they would work out your benefits - you can't exactly split a health insurance package.

This has been discussed elsewhere. In general, these spots go to married/partnered couples, not "2 random dudes who only want to work part time." In such cases, the benefits are easy to split since everybody is on the same "family" plan. Vacation/etc also works out fine because when one half of the pair is taking vacation from whatever rotation they're on, the other one is on an off-month anyway.

My program has had a couple of these over the past few years. In general, they seem to work out OK, assuming both people are otherwise solid. In fact, one of the couples has continued on into a shared PCP position where each works 2 days a week. Are they getting rich? No. Are they happy and getting spend a lot of time with their kids (which is what is important to them)? Yes.
