My night: (Nearby pt as I am examining another patient)

Pt: "NUUUURSE!!! DOOOOOCTOR!!! SOOOMOnE HEELLLLLP..."

Me (rushing over): "Yes Ma'am, What's wrong?

Pt: (softly) "Can I have a bowl of soup?"

Me: "Sigh..."

LOL... well sometimes that whats they need. I have a strict rule.. no food unless you have been there a while or if it is the only thing i need to do to boot you from the ED. I guess its not that strict 😀

Word is there is a study out of the 'Copa stating that if you give people a sandwich you could decrease the number of people you have to restrain.. Maybe soup does the same thing?

I want the soup AND the sandwich.

And crackers would be nice.

oh that was 300! good for me.

I've had ADD way too much today.

Any ideas on a quick, easy, and cheap halloween costume? Yes, I'm poor and a procrastinator...not the best mix in this situation.

having a blip in your life makes work a lot harder..

fetus has a lot going on... cant wait for this week to be over

Very exciting time in my house today. A tiny little frog decided to come in. I spent a half an hour trying to catch it. The little thing was so fast and kept hiding in the tiny corners. Centipedes are much easier to catch. Here's a picture:

Can you guess what kind it is?

Well, no one wanted to play the game so I'll tell you. It is a Dendrobates auratus, aka green poison arrow frog. They were introduced to Hawaii by "man." They aren't as poisonous here because
The conclusion that poison frogs' toxic alkaloids are derived from ants explains why frogs reared in captivity lack the toxic defense of their counterparts in the wild. It also supports the observation that when poison frogs are introduced to non-native places like Hawaii their toxic alkaloids are different. Evidently, introduced frogs are feeding on different species of ants which have their own set of alkaloids.
I don't think that I'll be holding one in my hand any time soon.

Crazy female patient: (screaming) help me! Help me!
Me: (rushing into room) what is it?
CFP: I need to go to the bathroom.
Me: Oh, well I'll take you there.
CFP: I refuse to be nursed by a man.
...
several seconds after I leave the room:
CFP: female nurse help me! Help me!

My friend and I found a few condiments to dress as for the halloween party. Definitely had a blast.

I skipped our halloween party and went on a date instead. I should really try to socialize more with my class.

Wait...nevermind.

I have no intentions of attending our halloween party either. It's just a bunch of stressed out students drinking, dancing, and partying...wait, why aren't I going?😕

I'm skipping the school party and going to one hosted by my friends from undergrad. That means I can use the Doc costume. I just hope it won't jinx my hopeful passage of 2nd yr. :scared: Ahh, the wonderful stress free days of undergrad.

Let's see if any of these are ok for you...things I've seen possible: characters from video games (Mario bros or whatever), mattress, trash, bum, toothbrush, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, or any of the characters off a movie...that's all I can think of now, but if I think of more I'll add them.:luck:

Back in the days before medical school, I wore scrubs, a surgeon's hat, mask, and shoe covers, and carried a golf bag. It was a hit.

Haven't tried it in medical school.

I'm fond of goin' as a domestic dispute. Get a little grease paint and putty. Guy goes in ripped t-shirt and dirty jeans, pours a little booze on the clothes, carries a toy gun. Gal puts on mildy risque stuff with blue-gray face and arms and a little putty and fake blood for a GSW in the middle of the forehead. Easy and quick.

oh ya...red sweatshirt with sign on it advertising for a tampon company works well too

+pad+ over lunch break...ready for anatomy lab now

Things that suck:

-secretarial temp job while waiting on TX license
-the #$%**)#($%*ers in the TSMBE
-the fact that I still have acne and I'm 30.

'Scuse me, I'm having a pity party.

And yes, I'll take cheese with my whine! 😳

I just rode unemployment while waiting for my license. The interesting thing was that I didn't have to take a job that was beneath my training, and there weren't a lot (at ALL) of jobs available for me.

Huh. I didn't now that I could collect unemployment between residency and the job world while waiting for my license! Is that some kind of secret, or am I just really ig-nant?

I don't know if this is secondary to the Labor Relations Board ruling in the '90s that residents were 'employees', and not 'students' (which was a boon for residents, so they could then unionize and gave them work regulations which were more human than prior).
