I tried to read the last 2 weeks of posts, but realized it was a losing battle. People are posting faster than I can read 😀
 
Hint for step2 CS: Remember to wash your hands! A friend of mine failed the CSA (the FMG version of CS) because he forgot to wash his hands!

If you forget to wash your hands at the beginning, wash them at the end.

Hope EF remembers!

I heard the they are less strict about the handwashing on CS then they used to be on CSA. Of course CSA is gone and FMGs take CS in it's place but legistically they were basically the same exam. The way they differ is on what exactly is focused on for scoring. One change that I heard from several people was that hand washing was less important. i.e. you might get dinged if you forget but you won't fail. That being said I didn't wanna risk it and washed my hands like I had OCD.

(IMO It's cool now that there is zero difference in FMG licensing and US liscensing)
 
Reminds me of a time I DIDN'T put on gloves to wrap someone's sprained ankle in a tensor bandage. I swear I couldn't get their foot odour out of my hands for hours. NEVER again! 🙂

I seem to remember, perhaps it was on a certain neurology rotation as a student, a resident who would put on gloves prior to ever touching a patient. Now this included patients who didn't have a drop of bodily fluid within a mile of them.

Always seems a bit strange if you ask me. I certainly wear them when I'm doing anything near the icky stuff but otherwise no.

I washed my hands on all my cases except the ones where there is no patient to examine. 🙂 All Done.. I think I saw beary but I wasnt just gonna randomly ask.. 24 people at our site.. PM me if you have specific Qs..

Glad that BS exam is done! (Hope I passed) 🙁

Weird.. But I only wore gloves for the CS when I was checking their conjunctiva or touching their feet. In reality it depends on what I am doing. Surely I dont wear gloves if I am only examining their CV and Resp Systems..

NOw I have nothing major going on until Match day... Then I have my medicine Sub I at the end of April!

I am in 100% relax mode.. starting tomorrow.. I have to clean up. My house is a mess and my wife will kill me!

Dude. I just did my taxes. Happy happy chica 🙂. I cashed out of a retirement account (they withheld) and I rolled it over. Plus I only worked until July b/c of med school.

YAY!!!

I think I saw you at the end of the exam. I was walking out of the bathroom and you were waiting to go in. I told you to have a safe drive... was that you? If not Im not sure which one you were. I was # 14.. were you #19 or so?

Still waiting for the rest of the details to roll in.. Prob will do my taxes in early Feb. If we have a nice return that means we will have a nice trip 🙂 Sadly my wife didnt make much $$ this yr.. Next yr it is on though! Ill actually be making something 40K and she will be done with her non real job and making some more legit cash!

Congrats too and obviously you made it back ok... Do you remember who I am now? Sorry I wasnt more forthright.. I totally missed one case.. and didnt even realize it until I started writing my note. Beary do you have your ROL done? You are doing Path right?

I do remember who you are! I had been looking for you earlier in the day but was totally brain dead at that point, and just thought, "What a friendly person!" 🙂 We might have had a better chance to actually get to talk if they had referred to us by our first names instead of Dr. 14 and Dr. 19. 🙄

I think I missed a lot of cases. I didn't do thorough PEs at all on anybody.

I am doing path, which I am super excited about, but unfortunately I totally can't figure out my ROL. I really wanted to tell my #1 school that they are my #1 but can't do that since I don't know who that is. I change my mind on a nearly hourly basis. Do you have yours figured out?
 
Yeah I got my top 2 figured out. My SO is having quite the impact on that thing so it is set. Only the backups have to be figured out.

I didnt do thorough PEs either I dont think it is expected. I mean 15 mins? Please.. I made awfully crappy attempts at fundscopic exams.. LOL... ******ed.. I just freakin hope I passed.. I dont want to waste another 1K. I rocked the CS I had at school but that was in August.. I prob should have taken this test then too! 🙂 Good luck with your ROL!

Can you send champagne/roses/ SB tickets to everyone at your number one or is that overkill? Seriously I had a little followup with numero uno today and had so much fun I feel like a giddy teenager with a crush. The distance in my mind to the next 11 totally astounds me.
Probably just my subconcious putting more pressure into the whole situation then there needs to be. Truth is I gotta go all the way down to 7-8 before I will feel anything like a moments worth of disappointment.

drkp, I agree with you on this. I would be happy with the top 7 of my 9... and even then I could be relatively happy with 8 and I would be disappointed with 9 but there are a lot of positives. They programs out there are great.. If the interview day wasnt so brutal I would have liked doind more of them!

I try to avoid my milestones now. Kinda like how your b-day becomes less of a deal as you get older (and how we women like to minimize our ages after a certain point) 😉
 
Had never beeen to bluefly.com, so I checked it out. Got a sweet deal on a Prada leather belt, pretty plain looking, but a nice shade of brown, for the low, low price of $428. Um, yeah right, who buys this stuff!? Have I been a student too long, or will there honestly be a day when I would consider this? God, I hope not... For that money, I could hire someone to hold my pants up for the rest of the year. Now that's fashion!
