😡 So this thread is sleeping and I feel the need to gripe. Sorry if you subscribe to EMED-L and are reading this complaint twice.
I got my old tech job back to pay the bills till July. I worked there for four years during undergrad and left two weeks before I started med school. It was fun to be back. About 80-90 percent of the nurses were still there and even a few of the techs I had trained were still there.
After a hospital provided 2 day orientation, drug test, physical exam, and ppd I started back. I finished the orientation packet that is alotted for 4-6 weeks in only 2 12 hour shifts. I worked 2 more shifts and then I got called to the office and was told that I could not work anymore because I do not have a current CNA license anymore. The fact that I have a doctorate of medicine and 4 years experience is apparently meaningless. Nsg students are allowed to work as CNAs/Techs after only one year of school but me? Nope! The ED blames HR, HR blames the State Board of Nsg. I blame idiocy and am left jobless, broke and angry.
