PCSOM Class of 2008

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wannabe- Yeah, we are pretty lucky to have Dr. Stiles. He's the man when it come to OMT and having the way he teaches it makes OMT so much easier to learn and apply. Did you get to hear any of his stories? I know he was teaching a functional workshop and I was wondering if he gave the WFS story.

Yeah, it was both a pleasure and a hindrance to hear all of his stories. On the one hand, I learned a lot of DO history. On the other hand, we didn't get a lot of hands on. What is the WFS story, not sure if he told it or not. So many stories 🙂

Hey guys, I wanted to ask you all a question.

I was looking at the thread started by (nicedream), discussing the unofficial website for the FLECOM class of 2008. Would you guys like to a have a website for our class? I thought it would be pretty cool. Let me know if you would be interested. Hope that everyone is going well. See you soon.

Aaron

Hey Aaron!

I think having a website for our class would be cool. Unfortunately, you know how computer illiterate I am, and I don't have the first clue about making a website. I would try to help you in any way that I can!

Misty

Hey Misty!

I know how to make a website. Nothing fancy, but I can make a pretty decent one. I appreciate the offer to help. Does anyone else have an opinion?

Aaron

Don't listen to Sandiflipflops, she is crazy.

Yeah, Go for it:clap:

Ok guys and gals, I will try to start on us an Unofficial Website. If you would email me with your First and Last name, and where you are from, I will make an Itenary on the site. I will let you know when I have some of the page ready. My email is
[email protected].

If you have any more comments on what you would like on the page, just let me know. See you all later.

Aaron

Also, if you would like to have your picture with your name on the site, send me a digital pic or a scanned picture. If you think that is a bad idea, then let me know. Thanks guys.

Aaron

Hey Everyone,

I have been working on the site. So far, I have Misty, Paul, and Jeremy's name added to the list. I was not sure of everyone else's last name and hometown. If you guys would email me and let me know, I will get it added. I also have a place for your picture if you want to submit one. See you all soon.

Aaron

I just sent you my info. Also, do you have a web address for the page that you can post?

Hey Willie,

I got your email. I have not posted the webpage yet. I should be finishing it this weekend if all goes well. As soon as it is up and running, I will post the address. See you guys soon.

Aaron

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I have completed the initial test website. I am having a hard time trying to get the pictures to show. I am still working on it. In the meantime, please review the site and offer suggestions for improvement.

The site is

http://www.geocities.com/pcsom2008/index.html

Also, Tas told me that he had a site at www.pcsom.com that he was planning to build a website for. He offered to give me that site if we wanted it. I wanted to ask you guys what you think about that instead of geocities.

BTW, please be honest with me about the site. IF you think it needs serious work, please dont hesitate to tell me. I take criticism very well.

Have a great day.

Aaron

Aaron,

The site looks good. Also, I'm trying out my new computer. but things seem to be going a little slow. I guess that the computer just needs to dowload some of the files into its cache.

Talk to you later

I just received this in an email and thought I'd pass it along...

"I have had some questions about the progress of the class of 2008. I talked with Angel today and there are 51 students that have sent in their deposit. An additional 24 students have been accepted and have until April 15th to pay the deposit. So we have accepted 75 students for next year."

I found this website and I thought it might aid in the study of anatomy when you get there. I found it pretty funny and thought I would pass it on.

Hit play when you go here!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! That was so funny I had to watch it twice.

Seriously though. I think that I thought of an addition for our class page. I think that we need the PCSOM logo posted on the page. I mean the one with the mountains in the background 😀 .

Hey before we start worrying about the school logo and the mountains of Pikevegas lets get some pics of the girls in our class up on the website. Come on guys lets think about our priorities here.

Don't be jealous Sandiflipflops 😍 😀

Hey aaron, I will be a second year next year and i'm from around your neck of the woods, i live in ashland. If you, or anybody, need any info let me know. Sorry i havn't offered my help earlier. I know that before you guys get here we should have a new "survival guide" printed up telling you things like what you need to buy, what some teachers are like, what clubs are around etc. But I have heard that not everyone from our class received one somehow. Anyways, I know what I was worried about before I came here is what all I needed to purchase and the survival guide was real vague about this, if anybody wants me to post some good ideas about what to purchase this summer let me know and I'll be glad to help out. Peace out yo.

Dylan19,

Any info that you could post would be greatly appreciated 😀 . Also, whereabouts in Ashland do you live? I live about 10 mins from Ashland and work at KDMC.

Hey dylan19,

I appreciate your input and your offer to help. The biggest concern that I have right now is finding a place to stay in pikevegas. I have contacted several places and even sent in some applications, but have not heard anything back from most of the places. I work in Huntington, and have been trying to decide when I want to quit work and move to Pikeville. I was thinking sometime in mid July, but was worried about not having income until school starts. I have been told that our financial aid packet will come in a couple of weeks after the semester starts, which if true has me a little worried. I am excited about school and look forward to meeting all these wonderful people on sdn. Once again, thank you for your offer to help. I will keep in touch.

Aaron

Hey guys, I have been trying to correct the info on our webpage. I cant get the pictures to show on geocities for some odd reason. I will let you know when I have them working properly. Take care.

Aaron

If it would not be too much trouble, could any current students name one thing that they wish they had done before they got to Pikeville, and any other preparation that may help.

Here is what I would suggest to pick up for school while your money might not be so tight:
1. lab coat, the school will have some washed used ones from our class, so
this is not a necessity to buy, although you are required to wear them
during gross lab
2. Some shoes you don't care to get nasty and leave in a locker
3. A combination/padlock for your locker downstairs, lockers are assigned on
a "first one to put your lock on it" basis.
4. Three ring binders for all your class notes. I have used about six of them
this year.
5. Some extra scrubs, the school will give you one pair but for the first
couple months of school you will prolly wear scrubs three days a week
because of opp on wed. and gross labs on tues. and thurs.

Looks like I'll be joining you all in August!! Just got the call this morning- a little late in the season is better than never! I'm really pumped about this and can't wait to get started. Pikeville is a little different from Palatine, IL (Chicagoland area) and I can't wait for the move!! See you all soon.

Way To GO RYAN!!!!!!!!!!

If you tell me what your undergraduate degree and college, I will put you on the webpage. Check out our class webpage at www.geocities.com/pcsom2008/index.

If you want me to post your picture on the site as well, please send me a digital pic. Once again, congratulations Ryan.

Yo Ryan Congratulations but get with it. It isn't you all it's y'all. Enjoy the rest of your summer and read up on the lingo. I know I have.

P.S. Hope you like squirrel

I hope everybody at Pikevegas has your sense of humor Aaron cause even my good friends tell me I lack tact, 😱 , but once used to it people usually laugh. (a bit nervously i might add). 😳 The website looks good. Nice job. I hope we get some other pics to add to yours. See ya. 😎

Just a little hint. Don't make fun of Eastern KY to students during orientation. Wait until after the first block or you'll get the hairy eyeball from the local students. lol I learned that from experience, and I really didn't even intend to make fun of the place, it just was interpreted that way. lol

Never make fun of Eastern KY to local people outside of the school because they will make you pay. I'm from the city and every time someone asks where I'm from and I tell them I get, "Oh well you must not like it here at all then." I just reply, "Actually, I'm really getting to like the mountains." If you do that, people will do anything for you around here. It's kinda cool.

Y'all have a good summer and I'll see you in the Fall.

Hey Dennis,

You should see where I grew up in West Virginia. Pikeville actually is a lot nicer than my hometown (a coal mining town). I think pikeville is a nice town and I liked the surrounding area very well too. I am one of those types that can be happy almost anywhere. I am looking forward to meeting all the great people there.

I remember my first year at Marshall University. I was made fun of sooooo bad about my southern WV accent. It was pretty funny. Anyway, some of the nicest people I have ever met come from the commonwealth of Kentucky! hahahaha.... I do have a pretty good sense of humor, which helped me survive the multiple rejection letters in the past.

Take care,

Aaron

Alright, maybe we shouldn't move it just yet.

It has been kinda quiet out there lately. Is everyone doing ok? Hey Misty, isnt your semester over. I thought you told me that you finished up in mid April. Anyway, thought I would say hello to everyone.

P.S. I will wait to ask a moderator to move this thread. Maybe after the class is full and the summer is here. Take care everyone.

Aaron

I just remembered something else. Has anyone secured an apartment yet? I have a couple of applications in, but have not secured an apartment yet. I am trying to get one in Ridge Cliff. I also need to look at the Anthony yet.

When do you expect to move to pikevegas. I was thinking about late July. Talk with everyone later.

Aaron

Hey everyone!

Congratulations to the new members of our class!

Aaron,

The website looks great! Today is my last day of class, but I have finals on Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday, so I'm still pretty busy. My graduation is May 1. I haven't been able to get on here b/c my computer has been giving me some problems, so I had to wait until today to use a computer at school. I haven't secured a place to live yet, but I called the owner of the Anthony yesterday and found out that he's also from Manchester. It turns out that his sister and my future mother-in-law work together! He said he didn't have any apts. open at the Anthony, but he is building another complex that is supposed to be finished around July 15, and he said it was very close to the school. I haven't contacted anyone else yet. I'll talk to ya soon!

Misty

Hey Guys,

It has been quiet lately. I haven't had much time to post the last couple of days. Actually, today is my first day off from work in about two weeks. (I'm trying to tie up the phone line, just in case they try to call me into to work 😱 ). I haven't found a place to live yet. Actually, I haven't even been down to start looking. But, since I think that I've got everything squared away as far as my physics class this summer, I should have some more time. Atleast until the class starts.

Misty,

If you have any info about the new apartment complex, can you post it when you get it? It might be an almost perfect place for us incoming students. And good luck with your finals. 😀

I finally got a day off! I had to go in yesterday morning very early (on call) and help pin a hip. This 98 year old lady had a femoral neck fracture that was impacted. I thought we were going to do a bipolar hemiarthroplasty on her, but the doc changed his mind about 15 minutes before the case and decided to do a CRPP instead.
