I am interviewing at Penn State on Monday. Any suggestions or tips?

The interviews are laid-back. Just know your application and why you want to go to Penn State.

and its...really, really cold here today!

I was a nervous wreck when I went to the interview last week. I was completely calm after about 30 seconds into it.

I received an invitation to interview at Penn State recently. They gave me two possible dates - Dec. 19th and Jan 14th. I'm supposed to be out of the country on Dec. 19th, so I scheduled my interview for Jan. 14th. Do you think I should try to rearrange my plans (not to mention lose quite a bit of money) to make the Dec. 19th interview? I'm just worried that waiting almost a month to interview could adversely affect my chances. Other people have told me not to worry about it since they probably won't be making many decisions during that month because of the holidays. What do you think? 😕

don't worry about it, you'll be fine. i interviewed last year in feb. and i still got accepted without a waitlist. You'll be okay.

hey guys,
how soon after you were complete at penn state that you received an interview?

I got an interview invite 8 days after I was declared complete. The invitation came by mail. It was much faster than I was expecting. The other invites took about 1-2 months after I was complete.

Nah, ain't worth it. Enjoy whatever it is you have to do out of the country. Besides, it might make for an interesting interview topic when you get back.

but post-interview they sure are taking their time deciding, been about 6 wks now after ~2 wk turn-around time for the interview invite

Yeah. I have to agree. I was hoping they'd make an admissions decision as quickly as they made the invite decision. It's been a while now. They are definitely taking their sweet time.

just gave them a call and they said that it takes about 6-8 wks for the app to go through committee--- there are 4 and they meet once a month ... now i can see why it takes them awhile

yeah, Penn State can be a little slow. I interviewed in mid-September, which was only the second week they had been doing interviews, and I still didn't get my acceptance letter until mid-November. Their office is going through some turmoil, so I heard letters are just going out slowly (it's not the committee).
